Hey all, Sorry for lack of updates lately! The machine was finally handed over to us this past weekend and we were able to move all the important data from the old machine. We are now setting up everything, testing and finishing off some development. Our time has been very limited lately due to re-starting studies at University, but alas, we are getting closer now. Can almost taste it! Just a quick note: We will only release on weekends (Friday-Sunday), so those who are worried about a week release, don't be! We'll also update you all plenty of time ahead of the release, so you can all prepare and re-schedule some of your time  That's all for now, hope you are all doing well and keeping close! There were a few times a mod was reported, although almost all of them were someone throwing a fit or getting angry about something that had happened and wasn't actually anything on the moderator's part where they did something wrong.
I'd assume moderators and prefects aren't above the rules just as they weren't in V5, though I don't know for sure what's the best route to report one. If someone is really going bad they could probably just erase threads reporting them if they saw them first, but I doubt anyone would do that.
The questions were meant for one of the admin staff, sorry I failed to address my post properly. Sometimes people can feel helpless when they are being bullied or harassed by a moderator, especially younger members and guests. I would hope that there is a standard mechanism for reporting if, or when, things like that occur. Hope it never happens in V6, but even a little bit of power can corrupt.

Noobstown has never been just a UK server, based in UK, yes. The server is offered world-wide but primarily an English speaking server. We at least expect people to speak English in our global chatting systems.

This question has probs been asked a lot..... But why has the server moved to America...
Unfortunately the UK does not offer what we need, as in the past with Noobstown and recently with Apocalypse we've been hit severely by DDOS attacks; London unfortunately does not offer any form of in-house protection. Chicago offer cheaper bandwidth and in-house DDOS protection which is much cheaper than going to another retailer. I myself, who also live in the Uk am not concerned about the move, the connection between the servers in Chicago and London is not noticeable. They are very fast. There is not need to be concerned  DDOS attacks are on the rise, especially within the Minecraft community which cause up to 24-48hours downtime between attacks. These can go-on for days, weeks or even months you have no way of telling how the person wants to treat your server. Having protection in place allows us to mitigate the attacks and keep the server running smooth 24/7, 365 days a year.

I've got a couple questions about v6...since there will be custom biomes will there still be the new flowers in it and since they took out roses whats gonna happen to spawn since foob used roses in it? Second will we still have a market or will all the shopping be done on the site? Lastly since there's custom biomes how will we get podzal and packed ice?
Not originally, we'll be adding them on land revert so that when the land is reverted back for whatever reason (Decided to remove chunk, player has been banned or inactivity of sort) the land will include the new flowers etc. on re-gen. Reverting meaning the land returns to how it was before a player altered with it, which will be its most natural state. These natural states are saved during 1.6.3 and will not include any data from 1.7 in order to add data our code will change some of the flowers and add other new natural blocks/items to the zone in order to keep it up to date. Player shops will still be viable for all players, yet not the preferred option and will not be very effective as the global auction is in place. Most players probably won't want to not use the auction, its highly convenient and well designed. Price changes, graphs, advice and just tons of information about trades that'll make it easier, reduce price scamming, noob-friendly  and fun. Podzal and Packed Ice will be updated like the other biomes, on revert. The Mining or also know as (Resource) world will be a fantastic way to pick up the new blocks without even reverting land. The Mining world resets per month which means the content will always be fresh for harvest. I hope that answers all of your questions, if not feel free to post below.

That X10SLM+-F is a tough little server mobo. Just make sure they don't plug the ssd or any other drives into the SATA 3.0 ports. We may know better, but since I work in IT, I can tell you that we should never trust 100% the actions of another IT person remotely.
What kind of pipeline is this machine being hooked to? My 50d/5u here in Texas should have a wonderful time connecting to this rig in Chicago, but I am curious to their network and how much they are allocating to the server.

Hey all, I just wanted to inform you that everything is going well, we are making great progress on putting everything together. We do however have some slight delays! our original intentions were to release on the current machine but the power and storage is not enough for our systems coming in v6, which has resulted in the purchasing of a faster and large machine. This will take a week to prepare and build (Pictures will be posted) and once up and running we can start steam-training towards the release.  The new machine will be located in Chicago, and will be behind a strong Anti-DDOS protection. Offering the best stability and up time for our players. The American player base will enjoy the improvement to their connection but our connection is still very strong and will not effect people world-wide too much. Also as this being September the Admin team have/will be soon going back to studies, which will take a lot of time away from pushing the release. As always though, we are doing our very best and preparing the best version of Noobstown yet! Soon as the new machine is up and running we'll post another update, thanks for your patience and understanding you are all awesome!

Dynamic Mobs, Virtual stables and Pets Hey all, Quick information update about our Dynamic Mob, Virtual stable and Pet systems! First of all I'm happy to announce that there will be no mob clearances based on a timed interval but rather dynamic despawning and respawning based on player activity in the area. What does this mean?Mobs more evenly spread throughout the world, mobs will always be around players. Farms and breeding is now possible in your town or wilderness land, allowing you to keep a good supply of animals and hostiles around your place. Mobs will despawn based on distance, if a player is not in range and the land is inactive mobs will despawn and re-spawn elsewhere in the world to keep the player to mob ratio more fair. Players that are gathered closely together or live near each other will experience a far greater mob experience with plentiful mobs around their field of view. As mobs are distributed evenly between players on the server the more players in your area means more mobs. Virtual StablesPlayers will be able to purchase horse with Noobz and store them within their virtual stable. This will allow you to summon out the horse whenever you feel like galloping across the landscape, you won't need to re-tame it, re-saddle it or even re-armour it. Not only this, if you have a donkey or mule any item stored within its chests are privately stored for just yourself. Allowing you to transport items with you! You can buy horse by breed type, some horses will be more expensive than others as they will be faster/have more health. Other horses such as the Undead and Skeletal will be unlocked by Donation perks. The full White steed will be unlocked by earning Veteran Status, and full Black via Tokens. PetsPlayers will be able to unlock pets that follow and can be ridden. Some of which will be exclusive Donation perks and the Bat will be available to purchase for Tokens. However, many pets will be available to buy via in game currency. Pets can be turned into both adult and baby form, they can also be re-named.

This is especially good. Taking away taxes leaves more competition on town management and should result in probably less numerous but better looking and functional towns.
If a mayor asks for taxes then the town should provide services in return and maybe even organize town activities (games, builds, etc) to keep citizens interested, something that I think was really underrated.
Yes, fixed. The whole aim was to provide more support for towns to grow and prosper without holding them back, towns are a big part of our community and bring people closer.

Everything you need to know about Towns, Nations and Outposts in v6
Towns are created by first gaining Town Permission and having 85,000 Noobz. You shouldn't apply for Town permission until you have close to 85,000 Noobz or over, you also shouldn't apply for Town permissions unless you have a structured plan for your town and know what you want to gain out of it. Creating a town for the purpose of selling it off, is not acceptable and will not be allowed.
Towns will no longer be taxed, however Mayor may choose to still Tax their residents. The main reason for this change is to avoid Towns being robbed and turned into ruins as a result. This of course has been a big problem for us in the past and we are trying to irradiate any issues that may cause mass grief or disturbance to players on the server.
If a Mayor no longer wishes to run a town they must request or sort-out a transfer of ownership. Failure to transfer ownership or abandon your town due to lack of activity may cause Admin intervention, which will mean forced ownership transfers (Most likely to high ranked Town members).
Towns cannot be deleted. Completely abandoned towns will be auction off by the Admins
With the introduction of two worlds this allows Towns to breath, without restriction, without limits. A world just for towns to expand and grow, a world without the trouble of wilderness buildings and arguments about who claimed over who.
Towns will have a variety of ranks and each with unique permissions (Updated soon)
Town Arenas will now work and allow for Player vs Player in Town arena plots.
Nations and Outposts
Nations will cost 170k and will only be created by players with Mayor permissions
Outposts will cost 42.5k and will only be created by players with Mayor permissions
All Mayors will be invited into a private Mayor and Nation board on the forums for town related discussion and politics.
Town and Nation Profiles
With the website update we are planning Town and Nation profiles, an online overview of a town or nation allowing visitors to view and decide which towns appeal to them the most.
The Mayors will have full customization over their Town or Nation profiles allowing them to post news updates, information about the town, organize events and more.
Mayors may also choose to have an application on their profile, which will send all town applications to their Personal message box. Allowing you to invite the most dedicated and friendly town-loving players.
Alternatively, if you wish for your town to grow fast and be open you can add a "Join Town" button which will auto-invite players to your town.
Nation profiles will also work in a similar way offering a place for all the towns of the nation to speak and communicate between each other.

Thank you to everyone for your overwhelming support during the last week of v5.0. The whole staff team had a blast and we hope you did too!
We are now going into the 'Preparation Stage' which we'll be putting everything together ready for the release. As mentioned before the release will most likely be a week or so from today, but we are going to keep you all updated. Thank you all yet again for your patience and understanding throughout this change over process and we cannot wait to see you all in v6.0.
