Hellos and welcome!
For the new chat settings, go to Options and you will find a new Chat Settings button. All the settings in there relate to chat, including whether it is turned on so you can use it or not. Once you are sure those settings are OK, you should be able to access the chat feature by pressing T.

You may want to do what I did (and still do), use my own personal creative world, run over to YouTube and watch tutorials and vids for inspiration, and tinker. Also, one of the easiest to follow redstone guides I've found is over on the main Minecraft forum: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/544827-redstone-guide-v121/

It shouldn't be surprising. They are dealing with a lot of updates for a lot of mods in a short space of time. The fact that it's been working as well as it has is nothing short of amazing. I'd have expected a lot more bumps along the way today then there have been.

I'm sure they are working on it. I'm just as anxious to get back in game, but odds are they are all working hard on fixing whatever went BOOM and just aren't able to stop and let us know what's up until they know more.

There are a few bumps they are working on. If you look around the forum, you can see that one of them relates to the ban list. Give them time to figure things out and fix them after you've reported your issue. Flailing around looking for a faster fix for you just slows it all down for everyone...

I believe so, since the server is running 1.3.1.

Thank you. Whatever was blocking my access to the log in server has now cleared up. Joy of joys.

That site is reporting a partial service outage. So I'm going to assume that means log in is hit and miss right now.

Apparently the Minecraft central log in servers are down. I've been trying to log in for a bit now, went on over there, and apparently many people are reporting the same thing. No official ETA posted on it yet.

Nope, seems fine to me.

If you do a Google search, there's already several how to's out there on how to accomplish this. I'd offer links, but they all seem to be a bit different depending on circumstances, so your own research will be better able to tailor things to your needs.

The date I've heard batted around is the 5th, but NOT from any admins or mods. So I have no clue how accurate that is.

Yes it does, thank you! And it's right in line with what I was thinking and hoping for as well.

I'm not 100% sure where this question fits on here, so if this is the wrong spot my apologies. I also suspect this will need an admin answer, because I definitely do not want to run afoul of server rules! If a town were to create it's own forum, totally Noobstown centric of course, would it be advertising to give that link to people? I'm not talking spamming it in general (because that would be gauche! ), I'm talking giving it to residents in our town chat or in private to those who ask about it. I'm well aware there's a no advertising rule, which I agree with and support. But something like this would help town resident communication, so I am hopeful it isn't considered advertising. (But if it is, I will certainly comply! )

You can check out Oakvale. We have plots available, lots of town perks for residents, and fish james is our friendly mayor.

Thanks for these. I've learned some important things from them.

I personally am confused by this suggestion. So far as I've been able to tell, you can already have more than one house. I see people in game with multiple houses in multiple locations already. Both maintained and unmaintained.

I can't answer for anyone else, but I would hate to see a pre-release used on a full server community like this. The point of pre-release is to to work out the bugs, not something recommended for a server.

They could also do what I do, carry their own iron block with them, place it when they need it, and pick it up when done. Just like with furnaces and crafting tables.

I can't answer for here (yet anyway ), but in previous online gaming I like to offer trust first with a "cover my hiney" process. Those who are good appreciate it, those that aren't will bite you anyway, and it gives an easy way to identify the difference between the two while maintaining a positive outlook (and not losing anything important!).

Cool beans, good to know it will work. And thanks TwistedLover, I had already figured that sharing chests could lead to potential issues, but some careful planning ahead of time can minimize that. But good reminder.

I'm still feeling my way around the mods, features, and commands Noobstown has, but one in particular I haven't been able to find out about yet. If I were to set up a shop, can I share it and allow others to buy/sell within it? If so, does the shop signs reflect this? And how would I go about doing it?
I've been searching the forums without finding an answer to these questions, so if there is answers already posted, my apologies!
Thanks much!

The group is still there Omega, but Fish changed it from public to secret due to some privacy concerns. The best work around I can think of at the moment for anyone wanting to keep up with news and events on it, send me or Fish a forum PM and we'll manually exchange Facebook info to do manual invites.
