Don't fear, we haven't forgotten about it, we do know it is down. The server is currently being updated to allow Joe to access the files on the server directly rather than by code. This should make things run a lot smooter in the future. Sorry for any problems/boredom the downtime may have caused, but don't worry it won't be down for 'too much' longer now .

The filesize and image size of avatars has now been increased from 100px x 100px to 150px x 150px, just a small update, but it means most of the current avatars are a lot smaller than they are able to be.
If you uploaded an avatar before this update you may want to re-upload it as the size it now displays at may have increased.

I would like to inform all those who may have received the following message when attempting to attach something to this site: The upload folder is full. Please try a smaller file and/or contact an administrator. That the attachments folder size has now been increased to a limit that won't be reached for a long time, you can now upload attachments again, sorry for any problems which may have occured due to this setting error. - ItsLawrence

I have locked all old town topics, in order to reduce confusion.
Please create a new topic if you make a town in V4, even if you already had a town in V3 which had its own topic.

Whilst I am aware that the server is going to be released to VIPs in just a few hours (all going to plan)...
The updates to the site will not be happening until the 29th at the earliest (maybe the 30th) This is good planning on Joe's part/not telling me the new dates.
I am therefore giving you a warning for scheduled forum maintenance on the 28th (mid-afternoon-ish BST more exact times closer to the date)
The site will be down for all users while we integrate the updates which should include the Live Support, plus some more fun things which you should notice at the time. Until then have fun foruming...

NB. Post any questions you may have about the 'FORUM' updates below (even though no one ever replies to my topics, so I doubt anyone will).

To encourage donation, and make sure you get the most out of donating to the server all users who donate no matter how little (obviously enough for the order to be processed etc.) will now receive a new forum rank of 'VIP'. These users currently get a nice 'golden' username around the site, and a special rank under their name, but in the future many more updates will come into practice with the forum VIP; include the possiblity of VIP boards etc. How do I get forum VIP?Simply donate. Click the tab at the top of the site or visit http://www.noobscraft.com/index.php/topic,39.0.html#msg363 and follow the instructions there, you will then be given the forum rank along with the other gifts you should receive as part of your donation.
Don't forget you can donate at any time, and every little does help: http://www.noobscraft.com/index.php/topic,39.0.html#msg363
If you have donated but haven't yet received your Forum VIP rank/other VIP gifts please PM Joe and he will allocate/contact me to add it .

In a recent conversation on the server I explained that I would post this: (It is my topic in the staff board about the evil rainbow smiley. I can announce it has now been removed! Happy days!)I don't mind people installing new smileys (because I am not the owner obviously) but why has whoever installed possibly the most annoying thing on the planet at this current moment?
I am talking about the :tyja: thing? It is something forged by the devil yet was added; WHY? It is really really annoying, plus rather large to be a smiley?
Just wondering to be honest why it was added? I have no objections with it staying (*cough*) but WHY? lol

I have fixed an issue with posting permissions for many of the boards around the site, you should now be able to post and reply to topics in most boards. Excluding the news areas and the competitions board. If you are unable to do this please PM me.
Sorry for any problems caused by the errors before, but they should now be fixed.

Finally after nearly a week of development I have decided to release it ... This is a pretty large update for the site... There is now a 'Homepage' to the site as you should all be able to clearly see. This homepage has all of the important information from Noobstown. I will talk about a few of the things on the homepage in more detail now: Starting on the left we have a "Who's Online" list followed by the forum statistics . Then as we move over slightly the middle column has the most stuff, this includes a news scroller (which will have news in it in the future as we get more news ) then below the news scroller is the latest news from both the forum and the server! The right column then has connection details for the ultimate noobs, plus a list of the most recent posts on the forum...it also has the top posters on the forum (5 of them, if you aren't already but can get onto the list I will be impressed ). The homepage also offers us the option to clearly give you announcements! I hope this makes finding information and using the site a lot more fun. Obviously this is a homepage so to view the forum you will need to click the "Forum" tab at the top . (This is slightly annoying to start with but you get used to it ). Sorry about the randomness of that post, I am not very good at posting things like this without doing it slowly (which I haven't here) so I hope you can understand the waffle above... Enjoying the update, - ItsLawrence

General Information The while-list is only in place during periods of maintenance currently.
Why does it say I am not white-listed then? If it says you aren't white-listed then it is most likely that the server is down for maintenance! (Check the 'Server Announcements' board for information there may be about this.)

In a recent crash or something I don't know what happened I ended up coming back online and my stuff (inventory) was gone and I had someone elses stuff... I now have a load of spades some glowstone dust, coco beans and a few other things. Plus I ended up spawning in the ghosttown area (behind it where someone was clearly digging around)... I had before a clock, compass etc set in my active bar inventory thing and the rest of it was pretty full... Anyway I was wondering if the guy/girl who I appear to have swapped inventories wanted to swap back because I have lost quite a lot of stuff. (not that they probably would because I had more in my inventory than they have ) I believe others have had the same issue so maybe if you post here what you lost and what you now have it may help solve the issue?

A small update, but I wanted to tell you all about it...I have now added an option to enter your in-game name (IGN as I have called it) (Your Minecraft username) to the forum. It will appear on your profile and next to every post you make so other users know who you are if your forum username isn't the same as the one you use to play Noobscraft. (But you can set it even if they are the same ). How to set your IGN on the forumProfile > Modify Profile > Forum Profile > IGN (Simply enter your in-game username in the box next to that) > Save If you have any comments/questions on this update post below!

I have updated the boards into what I believe to be a clearer more logical layout. There have been a few changes which I will attempt to list below: - Noobstown now has its own category and with that the original child boards of the 'Noobstown General' have been split into main boards.
- Guides and Help have been split into two separate boards hopefully this will make finding guides and getting help easier.
- Plugin reguests have now been moved into the 'Suggestions & Ideas' board.
- The 'Highscores' board has been removed and the topic inside it has been moved to the 'Competitions' board.
- The 'Donation' board has been removed and the topic moved to the 'Noobstown General' board!
- The 'Ventrillo' board has been removed and the topic on how to connect has been moved to the 'Guides' board!
- The 'Server' board with its child boards have now got their own category, and many of the child boards have been made into full boards.
- The 'Ban Request' board has been renamed the 'Report User' board.
- Both the Op and Live Streamer application topics have been moved to the 'Noobstown General' board.
- The 'Other' board has been made into its own category.
- The 'New?' board has been moved into the newly formed 'Noobstown' category.
I hope the changes make using the Noobscraft forum even easier and more enjoyable... Obviously I am open to comments about these changes; please feel free to post your comments and suggestions about them in a reply to this topic! - ItsLawrence

I am just thought I would inform you all about a recent change to staff here at Noobscraft... Well only one change (that I know of) to be honest; I am the new 'Noobscraft Webmaster' which basically means I will be managing and updating the site, plus ensuring that it is running fine! This comes after the recent forum server migration. If you have any issues or problems around the site please feel free to PM me. Welcoming himself to the team, - ItsLawrence

The forum has been moved to a new server after some issues which caused site downtime for a few hours on the last one. (Many of you may have noticed this, sorry but at least it is back up now.) Obviously you are able to see the site however this may not be true for all users yet, as their own computer's cache will need to update. (It shouldn't take long though!)
Due to this sudden change there may be a few errors around the site, but these will be sorted in the next few days!
There will also be a new theme coming to the forum in the next few days, for now you will have to put with the default one (sorry). Plus I will be updating the forum boards into new categories etc. to make using this forum more pleasant and easier!
Again sorry for the inconvience caused by the recent downtime,
- ItsLawrence (Webmaster)

As you (should) know Noobscraft has a live map, however on this forum and the link on the old site it was shown at the IP: 184.154.44.14 and then port 8123...this is quite hard to remember I think... So to the point you can actually view the map by just visiting noobstown.com:8123 I personally think it is a lot easier doing this, just thought I would post it for anyone who didn't know this little (slightly useless) tip. .

Although it isn't really much of a problem but the background on this forum is a .bmp image. This means the site takes years to load fully because bitmaps are not a very 'web-friendly'. The image is: http://www.noobscraft.com/Themes/ds-natural_20rc5/images/custom/gei4vjwm.bmp Although most people probably don't care, I think that converting the image to a .png would make it load faster , however it doesn't really matter.
