If we had a way to nicely disable the beacon effects to allow such a command to exist then enabling it so that they only work on the owners land would be possible.
Currently there is not a nice way for us to disable the effects that beacons let off which is why currently they don't work in the wilderness, so this idea wouldn't be possible currently either. I think it's a good solution though, but it isn't technically possible due to the way that beacon effects are given to players.
I will look into it all again though and try to find a good solution to the existing beacon issue, but it's technical limitations which mean they're disabled, not just us not wanting you to have them.

... How can I obtain a Veteran rank?
As others have said, currently there is no new way to obtain the Veteran rank, it was given out previously for things such as Donating and for players who were active during the end of the previous version of the server. At this time we have not got plans to give it out to anyone else but obviously things may change.

... I suggest a furniture type plugin which would enable us to turn ordinary building blocks into seats and such. ...
On Noobstown we don't run any plugins which require the use of client-side changes in-order for them to function, everything we currently (and that we want to offer) is available in a completely fresh vanilla install of the Minecraft client. Due to this we don't want to add features which would require the person playing to have to edit the client to add extra things (such as the furniture pack) to be able to experience all of what we're offering. If you know of any furniture plugins or have any ideas for ways we could do this which don't involve the player modifying their client I'd love to hear them.

"over the Summer break"
While I appreciate what you say, not being able to get more plots to register to extend town land, the ability to put any plots on sale. Greatly impacts gameplay. We can't finish builds, we can't add players to town (they want a plot), and we can't finish the plans. We have been taking our time to prepare our town to go public, but without the ability to add players to the town I wonder what the state is at the end of the summer of the town, I hope nobody leaves because they don't get neighbours, etc.
I am sure you can appreciate my concern as well.
We too are concerned and I'm working on a more short term part-solution currently because of this, hopefully that won't be anywhere near as long to implement.

What is the 1.8 support going to be? Is it 1.8 or with just some aspects but not other. Suggestion, jet packs?
When we first release 1.8 it is still likely that our initial announcement regarding certain features which won't be available is true; this can be found at https://www.noobscraft.com/server/upcoming-1-8-update/msg80861/#msg80861. This is due to the fact we'll have to update protections mainly. It is obviously something we'll be reviewing during the update itself though so things might change. At this time we don't have plans to introduce brand new features (such as jet-packs) ourselves at the time of the 1.8 update but if you have any suggestions please feel free to make them and explain exactly what you would like us to do at https://www.noobscraft.com/idea/ and we can look into them for separate updates.

We're truly sorry that it is taking so long to sort these issues out and we're aware of the effect it is possibly having on gameplay. More information about this will be posted as we become aware or as it's fixed. Future UpdatesIn future news although it may seem like things have been progressing slowly over the last few weeks/months I personally have been working very hard on updates to a large number of different aspects of both Noobstown and the Noobscraft.com site (sorry for being so vague but more information will be released as it gets closer to them being ready for use) and these updates will hopefully become used actively in the coming weeks and months. We're still working to make things much nicer for everyone and to improve the community.

This is a relatively simple, and quick suggestion, but amongst a few other items I think should be implemented into the shop such as the useless mob drobs and misc items that you get from McMMO, I think Soul Sand needs to be implemented. I don't know about anyone else, but I see Soul Sand as the Gravel of the Nether, with the Netherrack being the Dirt/Stone equivalent. Also, Soul Sand is present in certain custom biomes in the Wild, but as of yet is useless. I can't imagine it would be too hard to place into the shop, and I for one would like to see it as the same price as Gravel. Just a thought.
I see nothing wrong with this suggestion and have now added Soul Sand to both the /shop and /vipshop. Thanks for making the suggestion.

oh is the fix what caused the random disconnection/reconnection?
The server was restarted last night as part of getting it working again, however no if you are noticing any further issues then please inform us as this isn't a known issue. We are working to get the site list back soon though.

Reading through the different categories in the game statistics I noticed how permanently banned members were still included in the top 10 lists. I think this is unfair to active members who are not banned and would have been in the game statistics if it hadn't been for banned players taking up these spots. Can anything be done about this?
As you are likely aware we don't disclose information about whether or not individuals have been banned, as a result their information is still available and displayed as if they had simply not connected since they were banned. They are however automatically removed from the game statistics (just like any player) once they have become inactive for 3 or more months, which will obviously happen if they have been permanently banned. If you are waiting on a specific individual you should only need to wait 3 months from the date that they were last on the server and then they will automatically be removed.

The last day or so the Teamspeak widget has been showing no one is on the TS server, yet when I go in, there are quite a few people.
Right now, I'm in with Hexi, Tomb and Haru, yet the site widget is in plain denial that anyone is on.
Perhaps a lil bug? ...
Thanks for pointing this out, it is something we're aware of; it has been down for just over 24 hours now, we are looking into fixing it as soon as possible. Sorry for any issues it may have caused, your best bet to determine if someone is on TeamSpeak right now is to connect to the TeamSpeak server itself.

The eggs for the hunt look like dragon eggs. Just hit them for the reward.

i was looking to build a fence for my wheat but for some reason when i try to make a fence block it doesn't work. the fence pops up for a split second but by the time i move the mouse over to grab it it disappears? is this a bug?
As explained by others, the server is still running 1.7, but you're able to connect when using 1.8. You need to craft fences using the recipe in 1.7. Once we update however (a post will be made when we do) you'll be able to make the different colours and use the new recipe.
Ok, now I am confused. The gates are made with four sticks on the two sides and two wood blocks in the middle. The fences are made with 6 sticks (two rows). That is how I have always made fences. You used two planks and the fences appeared and vanished? I looked at wiki and that that is what it showed- four blocks/2 sticks. Is this a new recipe for 1.8? GG's answer makes me think so. If the recipe changed for fences, are there any other altered recipes? No, I haven't played 1.8 yet, just a little time in creative.
In 1.8 they changed the recipe of fences to include using planks (because they introduced new colours of fence, the planks determine the fence colour). This change is not yet live on Noobstown because we're still officially running 1.7; once we update however yes you will need to use wood with the sticks to craft a fence.

The use of /killall would be completely unnecessary in the way mob/animal spawning currently works on Noobstown. I'll try to explain roughly how the spawning works:
Random "natural" spawns always occur up to a certain amount, once at that level they stop. Extra spawns which occur (such as from breeding and spawners, etc.) go over this "natural limit" until they reach a "dynamic cap" (this is not a set number it is based on several factors which constantly change). Once this "cap" is reached no more mobs/animals (of that group) will be able to spawn. Plus after a certain period of time all existing mobs/animals have an individual chance they will automatically despawn (this is why /killall isn't needed). There is constant regulation of both animals and hostile mobs in all our worlds it is just less obvious because it doesn't occur in a big batch as you're suggesting; instead entities are slowly picked off.
The fact you're thinking spawners are impacting "dark rooms" is completely unjustified because the dynamic system counts hostile mobs completely separately to animals, so the spawners people can have don't adjust hostile mob spawning in any way at all. If you're meaning hostile spawners then again the caps would be met and they would stop spawning too until the numbers were reduced (which would occur faster from the despawning).
If you're concerned about the animal limit, this was dramatically increased when we introduced spawners so there should always be a spawning opportunity for them. I'll continue to monitor this though; but I have never seen the animal cap or the hostile cap be reached since we last increased it.
As for why the "dark rooms" probably aren't working is more likely to be with people near them, and the way that vanilla mob spawning occurs; when people are nearby nothing will spawn around them.

...I still don't fully understand why it isn't in the shop to start with, since if I recall the reason was that it could be "easily automatized"? However since logs are placed in the shop and we know that getting logs was super easy before, and still kind of is, this makes less sense when the same logic should be applied to both. (Plus it's kind of a huge money sink to create a sugar cane farm large enough to even automatize? Plus you can do the same for any of the other food items, so the logic kind of breaks since wheat... carrots... potatoes... netherwart... is in the shop.)
So therefore it seems to me the solution is simple, use the same solution for both. Simply add sugar cane to the shop but make it very, very cheap. Even something as simple as 5nbz per stack is a solution, as a dc would only give one 270nbz total. In that amount of time someone would have been able to go out and dig/mine up way more money. ...
As explained in previous suggestions for the same thing, I'll repeat: You can completely automate sugarcane farming without the need for any user input, this is why it is not in the /shop options. We don't have any plans to add it because of this; it is extremely easy if you set up a simple automatic farm in your home to gain large quantities in a very short amount of time, and you never even have to look at it because it could be running completely in the background. All of the other items in the shop you mentioned (including logs) do require some sort of user input to either break or re-place the farmed item. If you know of a way to completely automate them without any player input please PM me and I'll look into that. If you don't have a need for the sugarcane why farm it? Surely you could pick a product which has a /shop value if you're so keen to sell it?

While I can see a reason for this, it is already possible to add (unclickable) links to signs; you could simply use a url shortening service (as you mentioned) like Goo.gl or Ow.ly and simply enter the url of the page you'd like to put on the sign and then it will give you a shortened version (which should be short enough to just type out onto a sign) like http://ow.ly/JqUhe. It would still be typing involved but a lot less characters, if people were actually interested in finding out more information I'm sure they'd be willing to type it out. We do also have plans as part of the site update to introduce town information pages and as part of this you will be able to directly link to the topics you require; but this isn't likely to be around for quite some time.

I think this 3d-ish type map floris provided is the one we should use, instead of the 2d one. Easier to find things, and it looks 5x cooler. Just a thought...
You can access that at https://www.noobscraft.com/map/ if you hover over to the right side and using the window which appears select to view the 3d view. The link mrfloris linked is just a direct access to the same map displayed at /map/, it's just easier to remember simply typing /map/ compared to the port number.

Ever wondered where the different towns are in the Town world? You can now see where they all are on the live map! Earlier today we released a requested feature to display the location of each town spawn on the live map. You should be able to move around and see where each of the different towns are. To access the live map simply visit https://www.noobscraft.com/map/ or click the link under the "Community" tab. Once on the map if you don't want to see the town locations simply clicking this icon: will allow you to turn the different layers of icons on or off. I hope you like this change, any comments would be appreciated and as always if you have any questions please feel free to ask them too.

What is lore, if I add a blank how with enchants will that change lore
Lore is the lines of information shown underneath an items name. As I explained in my previous reply if this or the name get edited then it will most likely stop working; you'll have to see if they get adjusted yourself when you attempt to merge/enchant it.
