Some of you may have noticed that over the last few days several small things have changed on the site. This is all in work to moving over to using HTTPS on as much of our Noobscraft.com public site as possible! Starting earlier today most of Noobscraft.com will now run over a secure connection. This change isn't really likely to effect your everyday use of the site, but it is an important change with moving forward in internet standards! Wondering what HTTPS is?If you notice/experience any issues with this please PM me or reply below. Please note: There are no changes to the Noobstown Minecraft server connection or how you access the site.

I'm not sure if this is accidental, but I cant withdraw money from my towns bank.
If it was done on purpose i would like to suggest that it be added back in, at least for the mayor/sub mayor. ...
I have gone through the permissions we have set; mayors should be able to withdraw money from their town banks, we have had no previous issues with other mayors reporting this not being possible too. As previously suggested are you sure you are in the Towny world, most Towny commands won't work elsewhere yet.

... It would be nice to be able to see how your compare to the top ten in the categories.
e.g. Blocks crafted List the top 10 then you at XXX position ...
Thanks for this suggestion, it is exactly our plan! Eventually you'll be able to see your own ranking compared to the existing top 10. This is a feature we have got planned but it isn't likely to be released until we've done several other things but it will definitely come eventually. For now you can see most of your statistics by checking your client Minecraft statistics while on the server. And then for things such as McMMO you can see using /mcstats. However we're aware you can't compare rankings. But it will be coming to the site eventually.

We should have successfully now moved the site to our new host! Sorry for the downtime! If you notice anything which isn't quite working properly or something which isn't right on the site now please PM me and I'll be sure to look into it! Sorry for the downtime again!

UPDATE: We have now successfully transferred away from our old host to a new one! If you're seeing this message then you're viewing the site in its new location! Sorry for the downtime! More information...As explained a few days ago we've decided it is time to transfer our site to a new machine and company. This change will hopefully allow us to expand even more and should make the site even faster and reduce the chance of getting downtime. Tomorrow (1st September) from around 12pm (BST) we will begin to transfer the content of the site to our new host, to ensure that we don't duplicate information on the existing host and the new one we will be taking the site offline during this transition. This downtime is likely to last at least a few hours as we have millions of database records to move over! Once we successfully transfer over the content from our existing host to the new one we will then change where the "noobscraft.com" domain points to, this change can take up to 48 hours to occur locally on your own computers so just be warned that you might be unable to access the site during all of this time. You'll be able to keep updated about it all on our Twitter account @Noobstown. Once we're all up and running again on the new host I'll be sure to post an update about it again! Thanks, and sorry for the disruption. If you have any questions please feel free to ask them and I'll try and answer them as soon as possible! During the site downtime there should be no disruption to the server, continue to connect to that using the normal 'noobstown.com' IP! We're not moving the server itself, only the site!

Some of you may have noticed that earlier today the Noobscraft site was down for several minutes. The site went down due to the actions of our existing website host, these actions were unjustified and as a result we have taken the decision to transfer all our site content over to a new web host within the next few days! (More information about this will be posted soon!) It is something we have been planning for sometime, but the recent events have meant we'll be doing it even sooner! I'm sorry about the downtime, it isn't something we find acceptable which is why we will be taking an active step to prevent similar issues occurring in the future. On a positive note, remember we still have summer events going on all this week! Information about them can be found here: http://www.noobscraft.com/events/events-rota-(180814)/

Is there anyway that the despawning of animals can be turned off?
I purchased spawn eggs for sheep and I keep having my flock wiped out? A little disappointing IMO.
Does it happen if you spent RL dollars on the spawn eggs or are those animals immune from the despawning?
thanks
I'm sorry you're having issues with the animal/mob spawning; we have simply reintroduced the system we originally had which then stopped working earlier in the year. The cap of animals per area has been reintroduced to prevent issues with large numbers of entities, the despawning is a part of this too. Animals will however not despawn if fed regularly, you have to keep actively feeding/breeding them or they will begin to despawn. I'm currently away until the weekend but once back I'll have a look into some of the settings and find a nicer solution or make the despawning chance much lower.

So, basically, it's gone. It now says I'm a regular 'member'. Anyone want to tell me why..... I get you can't earn the rank of Supporter anymore, but like, get rid of it all together, really?
Basically just where has it gone and can I get it back somehow?
Cheers.
I'm really sorry about this, you should now be a Supporter in-game again.

This is something which will be available on the new auction system I am in the process of creating, you'll be able to view previous sales of the same item and thus be able to calculate a price which you believe to be fair.

Would it be possible if the person pytting something up for auction could chooes how much an item goes up by instead of people just bidding in steps of 5nbz you can make the auction increase in say 100
The increase is always 1% extra of the current price listed. So if you have something listed for 5Nbz then it's only going to go up by 1 until it increases more, but if it's for sale for 10,000Nbz then the increase will be 100Nbz to start with anyway. I can understand your suggestion though and it's something I'll take into consideration; I am currently in the process of remaking the whole auction system and this feature could easily be added.

Shame I will be asleep when most of these events are on lol
As explained in the post we also have plans to do random unscheduled events too providing we're available and the number of players online and willing to take part at the time is suitable.

Recently as players have been levelling up their McMMO skills we have come to notice that some of the skill strength gained from McMMO combat skills (including: unarmed, axes, swords, taming and archery) make players extremely over powered in combat situations with other players to the point where it becomes unfair and not fun to fight people who aren't on a similar level.
As a result of this we have taken the decision to change how McMMO works on the server, we have come up with two solutions to this issue and would like everyone on the server to vote for which of the two they'd prefer. Once the poll closes on the 1st of September we will then begin to implement the changes according to which one has the most votes.

This weekend to kick off our summer events season we'll be having double McMMO XP! You can earn XP twice as fast for this weekend! In the next few days we'll be posting an events schedule for some of the events we have planned for the server this summer too! I hope everyone who wants to will be able to join us for them, we'll be doing a range of different activities at different times to accommodate as many people as possible! For now enjoy the double XP and I hope you all have a great summer! PS don't forget that the Ultimate Parkour Challenge is still going on tomorrow (Saturday)!

The command /visit allows you to quickly and easily visit another player.
To set your visit location simply type /visit set when in a valid location (these can be anywhere valid in any of the worlds). A valid location is anywhere with a solid 3x3 block floor and where the 3x3x3 blocks above are completely empty.
To visit someone else's visit location simply type /visit [NAME] replacing [NAME] with the name of the player's land you want to visit. It's extremely easy, if you're not a VIP simply wait 5 seconds and if the location you're trying to visit is still valid then it will teleport you to the location set as above. If you are a VIP then the teleport will be instant.
To clear your visit location simply type /visit clear. This will remove your current set location. You can always simply overwrite the original one if you want to though with /visit set.
To check where your current visit location is set to simply use /visit check, this will give you the coordinates of your current visit location as well as informing you if the location has become invalid for whatever reason.

As I explained in-game, we don't really want to exclude people from accessing TeamSpeak, adding more restrictions is more likely to stop people who actually want to join and talk nicely rather than those who are these specifically to abuse the rules.
If you're ever in a situation where you can't get hold of staff please report them, if you use the complaint feature built into TeamSpeak then we can act when a member of staff is next online. I'd also suggest moving into a private user created channel in this situation too, if they can't get any reactions from people then they're more likely to leave.

This is a problem with Planet Minecraft's website, I have also noticed it being down a few times in the past week. There isn't anything we can do about it, if you notice it being down just try again in a few hours.

As explained, this is part of Minecraft. It's how things work, everything; farms, furnaces, animals, redstone, etc. it all only works when you're near it. If you're not near the furnace it won't be working. This isn't going to be something we'll be looking to change either, things stopping when the land isn't loaded is done on purpose as to reduce stress on the server and client.

... The thing to be concerned about here is less about existing player retention than it is about how new people experience joining servers. From my experience in server shopping, the second I ran into an issue with the server I left immediately or gave up on the connection process. If new people who have already changed their names go looking for a new server and are met with a login error when trying to connect to NC, that's instantly a lost new player. Lack of new players over time = server death. Playing with a touchy thing here.
If you've never visited us before it won't be a big problem, we won't know if the name you are using is original or a changed one (unless you're using a name someone else has previously had) and as such they will be allowed to connect. The chance of a player joining with a name that has already been used by someone from our servers is extremely minimal.
...Say that I, or any other member with a different rank to Member, were to change our usernames.. would we still keep our rank/title?
As explained in the original post if you change your name you won't be able to access the server. As for your rank it will still be attached to your original name. In the future when we allow name changing all aspects of the server will hopefully move over to your new name, the reason we're not allowing name changing at this time is because things like this aren't possible at the moment.
