If you want to protect your actual buildings I suggest you join a town, but if you would like to make things private such as a door or a chest you can do /cprivate and then click on the item you want to be protected. If you would like to make a signal block protected you can place a sign on it. The sign is automatically made private, so nobody can but yourself and staff can destroy the sign or the block.
