Guides / Re: V6 Noobstown /commands
« on: 4 Aug 2017, 00:02:02 »
Is there a more updated version of this list? I'm wondering if there is a command to immediate reply to someone (such as /r and it autofills the last received sender, using tab to scroll through the msg sender, if multiples), and how to add another town in the same nation as an ally.

Towns & Nations / Ethereal's Renaissance
« on: 27 Jul 2017, 01:28:36 »
Have you been to Ethereal lately? Lots has changed! I highly recommend our new skeleton spawner, found in the Chapel of Bones on the west side, and nearby the Whispering Oaks Cemetery, with a secret lab downstairs where the zombies wait to be experimented on!

The barns now include horse stables for your amusement, and a chicken coop, with spawner! All the eggs and feathers and chicken you could want. Organic and free range, of course!

Perhaps fighting is more your style. Check out our Archery and Front Wall, found on the south east corner. Grab some tasty cheap eats at our mess hall there, repair your armor at the blacksmith, bunk down for the night at the barracks. Earn some taming points by taming a wolf at the wolf spawner, and cull back those zombies and spiders and skeletons. Be careful though, the hordes can get surly and overrun you if you aren't careful. Beat those minions back! A beacon has your back, with some health and speed to help you survive. A command center offers some tips with a small library of help, and a map upstairs. We hear there might be cake!

When you tire of that, you can walk around a bit and see some of the different new and interesting features. A windmill that houses the last known pike of Don Quixote, and a strange chest that beckons you. A fountain park, where you can walk in circles while you meditate. A secret pirate cave, with lost objects. The Frozen Banana treat shop at the boardwalk. A fishing area where you can feel safe while you fish. We have a shopping district which offers all the basic amenities and then some! Maybe you're looking for a nice house, but don't quite want to build something- check out The Grotto and contact staff if you're interested in a place!

We continue to build new things every fortnight or so. Coming soon, spider caves with spawners, a house with a cellar crawling with spiders; a fresh PVP arena never seen before, complete with towers and nooks and crannies- multiple versions of games will be offered; The Grove, a residential area with cottages in the woods, with gardens and small farms, cheaper than the Grotto, but still beautiful; Rogue Gallery, a casino to try your luck winning different prizes; and an ice cream truck, what treats will we offer?

You can visit us at /town spawn Ethereal! We can't wait to see you!

If you type in the search bar, you can find the prices to anything you'd like to find. If it's tool prices, factor in time and materials to make the item. I think I mentioned this a few times in chat- this is the link so it doesn't get lost in the server chat.

You can ask Raiden600 about this- he's built a prison/gulag in the mountains. Lots of iron bars and stone brick.

Suggestions & Ideas / Player Push
« on: 21 Jul 2017, 13:36:21 »
So, with the latest update, turns out you can push other players. Was killed by a friend (who's name isn't important for this) because they ported up right next to me on top of a block to look at something. I'm concerned this could be used for nefarious purposes, trolling, griefing. Is this a server side thing that could be adjusted, or a Mojang "feature"?

Pictures / Pets? We've Got Pets! You've Got Pets?
« on: 21 Jul 2017, 13:31:50 »
We have a dog, and a cat. Mostly we have a lot of pictures of the dog. Well, Raiden has the cat pics.

So I hear sometimes stories of other people's animals, and I figured I'd share some pictures of Patsy! She's full of antics, as she's a full blood field Labrador. We've trained her to be so still, and patient, that we can stack a cheeseburger on her tiny little muzzle. Popcorn too!

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Wrench
« on: 12 Jul 2017, 03:13:43 »
Not sure if it's a mod, and you can totally do it by facing a different direction but the idea would be that it'd be faster and easier to turn these blocks. IMO it'd be easier to figure out how to make them face.

Just occurred to me that it could also work to move repeaters and other redstone pieces as well, without having to tear it apart, too.

Suggestions & Ideas / Wrench
« on: 11 Jul 2017, 18:28:44 »
Thinking maybe the same graphic as the shears maybe enchanted. What it does is this: it reorients the block you are clicking. Left click turns it horizontal, right click turns it vertical. And why would you want a wrench? To change which direction the glazed terracotta block is facing, wood blocks, bone blocks, quartz pillar blocks.

Another potentially handy use: changing paintings without actually smacking them to change them.

Maybe on items being sold for over say, 50k, so it doesn't further penalize people who don't have a lot.

In good spirits, I'd like to throw in a nice prize for anyone who finishes this after third prize has been claimed! Each person who finishes, let Cruising Ham know, and he'll let me know, and I'll send you a gift with a "hooray you did it!" prize! :D

HnK_  snagged first place and I snagged second, in case others are keeping track!

167
Yup, exactly-

Quote
Perhaps to make sure it's safe, the ticket item's destination could be set to wherever the player is standing when crafted/purchased. If crafted, it should be craftable in the 2x2 grid, so that it can be created easily on any spot.  The same system that checks /visit safety could then be run. Naming the item could either be part of the crafting/purchasing process, or done as usual on a vanilla anvil.

I like KilljoyDivine's idea of the number of ingots expended being the number of uses, maybe with a cap of 5 or so to prevent abuse (using tickets to get around sethome limits, for example).

Exactly this.

There's a way to make teleporters in creative/single player, with command blocks. So I imagine this is somehow doable.

168
It essentially creates a visit in the inventory.

Another additional idea to this: it's a craftable item. Gold ingots + paper = ticket/card. (Maybe a gold shimmer?) For every ingot  put into recipe, that's how many visits are created on this item.

169
It would be something that could be changeable, so maybe only one place per ticket even.

Suggestions & Ideas / "Library Cards"/Travel Ticket/Port Key
« on: 10 Jun 2017, 05:00:19 »
One thing I think that could be implemented and utilized in a variety of ways is a ticket system. Could be a multiple use card, (Ticket, 5/5 uses. Number decreases as it's used, so empty ticket is 0/5), maybe a colored piece of paper or a  one time use "key"- graphic used such as the tripwire, or similar. Something that distinguishes it from the other common item. Said item would be used to transport via teleport the player to a given location, such as someone's wild that isn't a visit, or a town shop, or other safe area. I think also that a "librarian" or "conductor" might be helpful to have, someone who checks to make sure that an area requested a card or ticket for is safe, so someone isn't being dropped in lava or off a cliff by using a ticket. :P (Might be able to use the same system that's in play for setting a visit.)

I also suggest this be something that a player purchase, and then be able to give to another player, or able to sell to other players, or on /ah. Use example: I purchase card/ticket. I can either give to you, or put in chest to sell for multiple purchases.  In essence, player that is being visited has to be creator of said ticket. So I can't make a bunch of tickets to Whuck's lag farm ( ;) ) and sell them to profit off of his land.

Could possibly be named by purchaser, ie: "Ticket to KilljoyDivine", "Ticket to Larrytown", "Ticket to Melonville", etc.

    Other uses:
    • Quest item, so a player can port to an area not otherwise in theme.
    • Other visit point, given to or purchased by another player.
    • Shop ports

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Player Shop Directory?

I've actually wondered if it'd be possible to remove at least the signs from the shops that are no longer active, if it's in the old format.

I like this idea. Between Raiden600 and I, we've been compiling a price list, and who sells them where. It's not an expansive list, but, it's a start. I'd love to have this. I've no idea what the coding would be for it though, like, would it automatically be updated when the chests are? Or would the seller have to update it- which is part of the issue as is- some things stopped being restocked due to out of stock or not playing or out of town.

I'd help with this, if it can be figured out how to go about doing it. I'm not much for coding (unless I'm given the idea- I've done a bit with html and whatever the board stuff is before, so I'm quick with coding languages when I want to be), but, could compile the list if need be.

Noobstown General / Thank You!
« on: 15 May 2017, 20:38:42 »
I'm probably suffering from sunstroke from being outside for longer than pretty much ever, but, I wanted to say thank you to everyone who helps make this server great. I feel super lucky to be part of it, and I love so much of it! I love the different designs of the different builds, and how helpful people are, and how friendly people are. I love that not everyone is the same! I love the diversity of the builds and the towns! I've been playing Minecraft for about 2 years off and on, and I feel like since I started playing on Noobstown, I've learned more about the game than I could have by playing creative single player. I'm less afraid of redstone than I was before!

Anyways, just a general thank you, and I'm so glad to be part of this server.
