Dear residents of town x,

Okay, that’s way too much to read; summery?
Ok, design a town bank, with a vault .. and if you win : free VIP.


Money isn’t everything, but it sure helps build our town. Our money isn’t save though! So we need our community to help us build a secure vault inside of a bank. Want to help? In return for trying to design and build a town bank you can win free VIP (details below).

As a town I think it’s important to feel like a community, heck, as a family. So storing our precious ores in a vault, together with our town’s money, is a must.

Through /t deposit <amount>, like this example: /t deposit 5
We increase the amount of money in our town bank. With the money we can maintain our roads, plots, buy more land and build the outposts. So feel free to contribute, but even more so: where do we store this money? Right now it’s in a secret area somewhere at our town spawn, guarded by Mistic_Ice. Once in a while an angry mob shows up and we can’t have that. Our Mayor can’t protect all of our money and land 24/7. We really need a bank, with a vault.

And that’s where you come in. Help us design a town bank that’s matching our town design - with a downstairs vault. We have to be able to receive customers, show people around, and have a place where we store our ores and money securely.

Maybe we will think “from this design, I like this .. and from that design I like that”, but I am sure we will end up with a great looking town bank and give our town Mayor some peace of mind.

What would be great is if you could show us something by July 15th, so we can pick a winner near the end of the month. And start building.

If you desire to build something in-game, we can setup a 2x3 area you can build on. But you’re also free to make it in local-host and share us the world file when you’re done.

And yes, the bank will be either 2 by 3, or 3 by 2, whichever way you can make it work and fit.

Prizes? If one design stands out and we go “that’s the one” we will reward you with free VIP. If we decide to use elements from your build and someone else their build, then I guess I just have to reward you both with free VIP. If we get inspired by your build, but we’re going with a different direction, you will still be considered a winner and you will still get free VIP.

If I am a guest, will I get free VIP? No, you have to be a [member] Town x has no guest-resident plots available anyway in 2015.

If I am a member, will I get free VIP? Yes, your upgrade will be from member->VIP.

If I am a Supporter or Veteran, will I get free VIP? Yes, your upgrade will be from supporter or veteran -> VIP.

If I already have VIP, will I get free VIP? Yes, you will be upgraded from VIP to VIP+.

If I already am VIP+, then what? Then we you can pick another TOWN X resident to gift VIP to.


I hope I covered all the info, I might update this thread over the coming weeks, so stay tuned.

Smurf, Dmonac and Rando really chipped in and finished it in a short time, what's left is the Windmill, the lake, the fishing doc, the mining shaft, and the water feature.. But that's on me :) Maybe I will post about that tomorrow. I just finished the path, and started terraforming the area. /visit mrfloris is still active, so you can come and take a look.

Progress now that I am done with lanterns, trees, vines, .. a lake and a fishing dock. There's still enough to do, but I think we all deserved a break - this was great community fun so far! Thank you all for contributing.

By they way, as long as the frontdoor points to the road in the middle .. you're good.
The path simply is a quick outline so I could figure out what build goes where.
The path can be moved to the left, right, .. shorter, longer..
Just use the space wisely in the plot, and I will make the path go past it or towards it.

The first few have shown an interest, and Dmonemac95 has already started on the butcher house. And SmurfStompa on a well.

Hello everybody,

Town x has a 5x5 plot area where we want a small NPC village, I will put the plots up as embassy so everybody can participate. I will put signs in the plots to say which build I want there. Please read the signs :)

I will put down the road and the lampposts, but you're free to decorate the outside and inside of the plot with your own resources if you wish to contribute - but what I 'at the least' expect for paying you to help out is the build as it shows on the wiki.

You can get there with /visit mrfloris until June 21st (or ask me to tpa you).

Come and check it out, find the build you wish to do and claim that plot, build it and let me know. I can pay you when it's completed and I will dump some build materials in a chest there for you.

The mayors of town x are looking forward to work together with the community to quickly build an NPC village. Don't unclaim the plot when you're done. I use it as proof that you're the builder. If you finished one plot and want to do another one: that's okay :) Just claim it and get started.

Questions? Ask me in-game or in this thread.

Oh, please note that some builds have 2 plots, like the large house and the library,
this allows you a bit more freedome to comfortably place it. Claim both plots please.

Dear town x residents,

It's the Summer of 2015 which means it's time to reward plot builders for their awesome contribution(s) to town.

If you have a plot at /t spawn or at /t outpost, you're already eligible. This is just a headsup that our Mayors will have a quick look around. We will see if your plot fits our small little nature / natural looking town and if you've put reasonable effort into building a little cozy home for yourself. Extra points if you have an interior, if it looks finished. And if you're an active player during June.

The reward? Not only do the three 'winners' get some money, but the first place winner gets an extra plot. Oh, and maybe some fun items appear in your Mailbox.

Get building, tweak your design, finish your roof, add some furniture, plants and creative design to your house in town x - and in about a week from now we will (unannounced) have a looksy around and update this thread with three names.

If you don't live alone, or have friends in town that helped you - the name on the plot will be picked as the winner; You're free to do with the prizes as you please, like share them with your friends.

Resident one decides to leave a town, their plot is left behind.
The plot is automatically set to sale, so any resident in town could potentially get it.
We in town x don't allow it. We're closed and private, and we assign which plots are available to players.
So I /plot nfs these plots and are free to put it back up for sale again.

But, I do not read in the town application form the following situation

- what is the policy in regards to placed blocks and suchs on the plots that are left behind by the resident?
   if there is a house, and we put the plot up for sale - whatever is in the plot become property of the new resident?
- are we to clear the plot manually (remove a house), if so, what happens to the items?

And finally, i can imagine a resident doesn't know they wont have access to the plot or chests anymore, what's the best situation, just make it embasy and let them take it and then ask them to unclaim?

But.. what if someone already bought the plot (say it's been 24h or a couple of days)

My experience has been a terrible one, the issues started surfacing a week or so after what appeared to be a successful upgrade. Mainly caused by the plugin (spigot running native hasn't been an issue).

You guys are braver than me! Best of luck. That said, when it runs smooth, it runs smooth enough.

I've tested this as well and am listed as mayor AND assistant and I've put up so many plots for sale in Windermere. Thanks for posting this Floris.
Confirmed for co-mayor as well. Co-mayors can also add assistant to themselves. And still works.

So.. Mayor, Co-mayor, Sub-Mayor + additional group: assistant .... works!

Glorious news noobians, today we found a little post by gg who mentioned that adding the rank of assistant to a sub-mayor that it should allow plot fs again in towny. #rejoice.

I am posting this here to get it under the attention of all mayors, and just in time for the Summer.

The problem: Out of nowhere after the Easter-reboot the command: /plot fs stopped working. This was many weeks ago, pouty faces all around.

The solution: Staff mentioned this is a Towny bug and posted they're working on a solution.

The great work-around: Why wait! Let's invite members to our towns and sell those plots with this great work around that's been tested by a handful of mayors today (and works).

If you are a co-mayor and as a sub-mayor, and you get the rank assistant added, you can do: /plot fs again!

Town x just tested this on a sub-mayor, who got perm-denied first, but with added assistant group was again able to sell plots again.

please do realise that you probably can't use "plot fs" command, as it's currently broken. Just a heads up. It's been like that for many weeks now, and they mentioned I believe that they're looking to fix it around this summer somehow.

If the permission for a staff account still work, is it perhaps a solution for an admin or moderator to come online and walk with me through 12 plots to put those up for sale  (/plot fs 1) the money I don't care about. The plots are all in a row basically, and ready to go. Maybe we can temporary set that account as co-mayor or something?

We too are concerned and I'm working on a more short term part-solution currently because of this, hopefully that won't be anywhere near as long to implement.

I get the impression some towns can actually sell plots, is it a group permission perhaps?
Like, if the mayor is just a member vs a vip? A temporary solution for us could be to just put an alt account that's just a member as mayor until it's resolved, or whatever

The issue is with the permissions. Towny isn't registering changes to them, the system is bugged and broken. Which is part of the reason we're moving forward with our custom plans.

While I appreciate what you say, not being able to get more plots to register to extend town land, the ability to put any plots on sale. Greatly impacts gameplay. We can't finish builds, we can't add players to town (they want a plot), and we can't finish the plans. We have been taking our time to prepare our town to go public, but without the ability to add players to the town I wonder what the state is at the end of the summer of the town, I hope nobody leaves because they don't get neighbours, etc.

I am sure you can appreciate my concern as well.

What would be even more awesome, is if we could use our towny commands .. it's been since the easter reboot that we can't get new residents because we can't sell plots. It's very exciting to see that new stuff is coming, but I rather see permissions being sorted first. It's a towny server afteral. Thank you for understanding.

Well the virus gave me inaccessibility to the computer, so I can't really do anything about that. Plus, the Malwares here can't beat the trojan virus.

The *ONLY* way you can get infected where a complete-new-hard-drive doesn't cut it, is if it is a BIOS firmware infection. Which, all of them, have a fix-tool for, AND they are identifiable ; buying a new system for a BIOS problem or if it isn't a BIOS infect, just a new hard drive .. seems like complete overkill. Maybe it's simply time for a new system, regardless of infection? Maybe, but otherwise I can't see why. There hasn't been a Windows system in my life that we weren't able to clean.

There we have a problem. That makes It so only mega rich players and towns can ressurect the towns. Towns like Celestia and Groozdale that just started would not be able to compete with powerhouses like Dracomere and Town X.
Town x isn't a power house :p

Small towns shouldn't get overwhelmed with taking over other dying towns. They themselves should thrive first.
People are leaving towns that are under populated and inactive, causing towns sometimes to expire.
Rather than having a dozen of those, why not have a few thriving towns that can resolve the problem without it hurting their wallet too much. I don't see much benefit in a new under populated and inactive town to merge with another one that's on the brink of being removed. It will just be a bigger town without much new activity.

It also would be nice if they could become outposts of existing towns.
This has my vote.

Just let us pay 450k for the outpost, and if it is know they had 400 plots, that we pay 400 x 2500 + a fee of 900,000 to unlock those 400 so we can register them.

This way popular towns can grow.
