Towns & Nations / Re: In Need of town
« on: 23 Jan 2016, 19:18:37 »

Well Mr Larry...She is wanting to know if she can get a PM or I can about which towns are up for grabs. Im writing this because she does not do forums. lol
I'd be fine with giving away Futuria. Roads will be made already. There is a giant hole, mine it out for a grinder! :)

This feels like the most random post I've seen on the forum EVER. And I'm grateful that it is. :)

Ask adam5979, I think he wants to sell Futuria maybe.
Indeed I do! But I will have to remove the spawn area before if you want it for cheap. That's ugly anyway. I'll sell it for ~150k, without a real spwn point but with roads.
I can probably fill the holes, but there is a rift under the town, so deep that I can't really fill it, and a 4x10 big hole that can be used to make a grinder area (that was the thought).

I have not found it yet.  I can see what rank I am e.g., 33rd in mining, but what does that mean? how close am I to 32? e.g., thats the type of stuff I would love to see.

That used to exist, but they removed it from V6 because it caused lag. I think it would be nice to have it, but the Admins have more important stuff that they're going to implement soon.
Nevertheless, a good idea, but we might have to wait a while.

One thing though, is the McMMO potion unlock in a consistent pattern or is it a bit more spread, or is it something that will be for us to see? :P

I believe that exists in-game, under Statistics.

Morning,

Having dreams and ambitions are very commendable indeed, but you must recognise (we all must recognise also) that life is painfully long yet frightfully short. The goals and ambitions that one might have must be achievable and realistic otherwise we are setting ourselves up for failure and misery - We must remember that humans are not machines that can set tasks for themselves that will be completed without digression; often, we rather take serpentine and indirect paths to our goals, for the purposes of motivation and stimulation.

In other words, I would praise this lifestyle that you seek to establish, for I have a similar lifestyle and it is very rewarding (for me personally) but do not set yourself goals that are static and unmoving - this will not work, let your mind take you where it desires to go, whether this be reading, discussing, enjoying or listening. Do not delimit yourself to learning, make time for things such as interacting with your friends on the server and time for your family or whoever else you love.

Furthermore, I would say that, as a caution, confining yourself to an intellectual lifestyle like this is not healthy nor hospitable to your ambitions in life, for lack of fun, excitement and social interaction will very likely dry up the motivation you have for learning. Indeed, as Aristotle said, we are political animals, meaning that we're social creatures that desire friendship and community; as he puts it, Friendship is a necessity to the life of the good man and is the highest of the external virtues. The 'good man' is the man of study, and I would stress that he thinks that this must encompass friendship (love of, friends, family, and partners).

I can tell you from experience, 50% of my life is study and the other 50% social interaction with those I love and it seems to be working well for me, whereas the life of 100% study did not work very well for me. We can gain much from the insights of Plato and Aristotle on this subject and indeed the The Good Life, not as something that merely involves wealth or entertaining but that which seeks to understand the world in itself in addition to wealth and entertainment.

To sum up, I would say that this lump of text amounts to one thing: you have plenty of time in your life to do all the things you want to do, you are young still and you shouldn't stress yourself out about these things; that being said, you should also keep your ambitions in mind and make progress on this intellectual lifestyle you seek as life is increasingly short. But, I would tell you that you must make time for simple things such as time to play games, to talk to friends and do other things that you enjoy otherwise the whole project falls down.

I hope this helps, and if you would like me to expand on this (as I realise some of it may contain hidden Aristotelian concepts that I have neglected to mention) feel free to pm me.

Also I do apologise for the emphasis of 'man' in this, this is how Aristotle describes his views and sadly he didn't have great opinions of women.
-James

Couldn't have said it better. Good luck pursuing your dreams!

We're meant to be a server you'll be able to play on for years to come; in a few months or years if you've max levelled everything you'll be moaning there is nothing to do, so by making it slower we're increasing your possible gameplay time and in the process offering more variety of things you can do on the server as a whole. If you possibly spread out your work or didn't try to straight up "grind" skills but just instead used them as you played it might be more enjoyable (or focused on multiple skills at once as to not find each one such a chore); but I suppose that all depends on what you want out of Noobstown. If anyone disagrees with me there though I'd love to know your input on this.

Yes, no doubt, but compared to other skills it takes an excruciatingly long time to grind it to say, Lvl 400, compared to combat and gathering skills, such as Swords, Axes, Excavation etc. But maybe it can help with the increase of the time it takes to brew. Say, Lvl 0 has brewing speed of x0.1, maybe increase it to x0.2 or x0.15. Now to back up this, if for example, a potion is unlocked at Lvl 2000 (Potion of Resistance), then it would be time consuming (maybe you'd get 15 levels every day starting from Lvl 400 and decreasing ever so slowly, and in the end, you get 1 level a WEEK). I agree,  you should be able to grind for a while, but saying that people might moan that there is nothing to do isn't really a great arugment against it since they might build magnificent buildings with materials gathered. That is the beauty of the McMMO, getting stuff and powers while having fun. It isn't fun if it's too easy, but TL;DR, the XP gain is way too slow.
The argument about the switching is fair enough, I can't argue against that.

Simple. :D
Fill your brewing stands with water bottles. At the slot at the top, place a nether wart. Wait for the arrow to completely fill to brew into Awkward Potions. Then, put in another ingredient to brew potions with different effects, like sugar for Potion of Swiftness.
Lastly, if you want a doubled effect for 1:30 min, use glowstone dust, or a prolonged effect for 8:00 min, use redstone.

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: The future of Mineapoc
« on: 19 Jan 2016, 12:52:01 »
Since I'm terrible with quoting, I'll stick to just talking about it.
It's not really leaving Mineapoc to rot, it is to let them enjoy the last moments before it turns into the Dungeons world on Noobscraft. If it stays shutdown, some people will leave that coomunity since they can't play on the server.
I agree, there probably could be staff members who know and play Mineapoc as well as Noobscraft. It would benefit both parts of the server. For the current staff who don't play Apoc, it'll just be more responsibility because of something that they hardly know.

What enchants are you talking about, completely new ones or Tim's Enchants? Tim's Enchants will probably never happen since it is too overpowered.

Hey in December I know the admins did up the xp rate of alchemy so it is a tad easier now. still a bit hard but better than it was.
Then I obviously missed it. Was inactive then.
Still, would be very nice to maybe re-add "switching". Otherwise it's material consuming and not cost-efficient.

Suggestions & Ideas / Making Alchemy grindable again?
« on: 16 Jan 2016, 23:28:29 »
Hello.
As we all probably know, Alchemy is a pretty much dead skill because of the lengths you have to go to grind it. Some people do brew for certain potions, others do it for all potions, and so on. But what if we could re-add "switching" (switching between glowstone dust and redstone to give different time lengths and powers of the potion) BUT modify it to only being able to gain half of the XP you gain from every other process in the brewing? Or maybe just up the XP gain a bit, because it is pretty low.
I like Alchemy myself, the only reason I stopped was because it can't be grinded because of how time consuming and expensive it is. But it is still important, and it has great potions that can really benefit you at times (gathering, PvP/PvE, survival). It would encourage people to grind Alchemy itself instead of only buying the potions that people like I can brew because I have a high enough Alchemy level. Potions can really be pivotal and are always great to have. And with either of these changes, I think the interest for Alchemy would go up. Maybe not by much, but still up.

EDIT:
Oh and I still don't have clarification if all of the McMMO potions are in the server. :P

Try using OptiFine, it can help reducing lag on your computer while you're playing MC.

shoot the skeletons back so they know what it feels like?
EXACTLY! Kill them the way they hurt you!

But on a serious note though, avoid the outskirts of towns if you have no ways/means to defend yourself. And If you do, just run away. They can't shoot arrows at all distances, after all.

It's hard to believe that he will get unbanned IF his ban appeals have been denied twice. He can try again though, but don't try to make that feather into a hen. You'll get in trouble if you continue, most likely.

I assume he is referring to the box at the bottom of site topics which allows you to enter a reply without having to go to a different page. (Scroll down a bit and you'll see it :P)

It was already available to everyone through your site look and layout settings I just updated it so everyone would see it by default now rather than it have to be enabled, so some of you might have already been using it which is why it was never announced. Glad you noticed it though; a very useful feature :D

Oh, I just noticed it. Small changes count too :)

95
Cool! I love the unmentioned new addition of quick replies :P Looking forward to all the new stuffs in 2016!
Quick replies? You mean /r or...?

He made 2 ban appeals and they got rejected. new year so? new chance please :')
Let him appeal again, for a third time. Maybe the staff will grant him this time. Although make sure that he doesn't break the rules IF he gets unbannned.

Can't wait until those changes happen. Will be exciting to see what new stuff we will see in the future!

Time to join the Linux crew, and in the mean time make the person responsible pony up for damages, even if it's taking an allowance.... Using a solid AV(Avast is free and has always been a solid go to, avoid Norton/McAfee/AVG) and careful browsing(Chrome or Firefox sandbox mode if need be) are a must in the future if you are to stick to Windows.

Hope to see you back sooner rather than later...
Heh, planning to get a Linux to use for gaming in summer.
Computer arrives in 1 week from now.

Sorry about your trouble. Not sure why you needed to buy a new computer though? There are many free programs to get rid malware.

Best of luck until then.
Well the virus gave me inaccessibility to the computer, so I can't really do anything about that. Plus, the Malwares here can't beat the trojan virus.

I'd been wondering where you were! Sorry about the virus.

Thanks!
