Other / Under self-imposed motivation thing« on: 18 Oct 2012, 21:35:27 »
Heya folks. I'm imposing a motivation program on myself; I confess I spend more time playing MC than earning real money through my online job. The mechanics are simple--for each minute I spend on my online job, I get to spend twice as much on Noobstown. (My job requires me to be on for at least 15 minutes at a time). I'll probably be wood-chopping or blaze-farming or sheep-shearing when I'm on.
I'll try to be focused and mostly leave Gen Chat, so if I don't respond to your GenChat messages, do /msg ummfredfelizco or /tc or /nc as appropriate. And if I leave abruptly, that's because my time's up and I have to earn more Noobstown time by getting on my job again which is kinda similar to being a responsible Noobstownian. I get to chat with young people on the Internet about their homework problems. Anyways. If I keep this up for some number of days (at least one day?) I plan to reward myself with VIP privileges! So, banzai to me 28
Towns & Nations / Trans-town Underground Waterway« on: 16 Oct 2012, 05:07:58 »
(A crazy, off-the-wall project idea)
So, about a month ago, there was the idea of constructing a train station that would connect different towns. The consensus seemed to be that it was ridiculously expensive (due to powered rails needing gold, and regular rails needing iron). I present an idea for another mode of transportation that would cross towns: An underground/underwater waterway. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkbgzkid4b8#ws Some pro's to this project:
Drawbacks:
I've made this waterway myself on SSP. It was only about 300 blocks long though. So... post your opinions and criticisms! ...before I start building one myself that connects Tortuga to the Empire border, or Oceanview to Summer 29
Guides / Le Noob Guide for 2x2 Jungle Trees (with pictures)« on: 13 Oct 2012, 19:25:10 »
This guide is probably not for experienced players ^_^
Hi everyone! In this video I will be explaining how to properly chop down jungle trees in a town's tree farm. Huh? What do you mean I'm not on a video? Meh. Can't you just be imaginative for a sec? So I checked out our tree farm and ermahgersh! A half-mutilated jungle tree! That's when I decided I need to write a guide. The best way to decimate a Giant Jungle Tree is to start from the top down, so that you don't leave a single log unchopped (including side logs). If you do, the saplings won't grow when you replant. A big tree needs a lot of room to grow! There are several inefficient ways to get to the top:
...not every giant jungle treetop has an accessible vine path. And so we resort to other ways: Dirt ledge! Bring shears and patch 'em up! If all else fails, carve out......a spiral staircase!! When you're done... just jump off and use Tree Feller on the staircase! That's all, folks! Remember to finish your tree completely, and replant! Because not replanting goes against proper etiquette, which is frowned upon in most towny societies. You don't want a merciless TA to bring down the ./grief banhammer on you, especially if you're not even a resident! I'll see you in the next video. 30
Support / Acro Tower + Regen + FF4 + /home bed... is this an exploit?« on: 11 Oct 2012, 05:03:05 »
Umm, I built a 110-high acro tower with 10 landings, in my town, with a bed on top. I also bought Ghast Tears and made Potions of Regen (2:00). So along with normal health regen, the Potion and town regen stacked. I also had Feather Falling IV boots, and did /home bed when I reach the bottom, which gave me a quick way to level up Acro. In my experiments, I gained around 7,500 Acro XP per bottle of Regen.
Before I continue leveling up ...erm, profusely... I'd like to ask--- is this considered an exploit? 31
Pictures / In-game Screenshots« on: 7 Oct 2012, 06:36:29 »
(Saw a topic that asked for in-game screenshots but when I replied the site said the topic's too old so I made a new one)
I've the best fellow-TA's in all of Noobstown My game crashed after Orbit showed me his tower/island (lethal fall damage!) and the town's Blaze farm. I log back in after 30 minutes and see snow blocks and torches on my plot. TA prank wars? Oh somebody's gett... (*raises sleeves*) But wait... There's more! I saw a chest and a sign. (*irritation subsides, gives way to surprise*) Ha! Neat-oh. Thanks Orb! 32

Post your memes here! Ridiculously funny, or sadly frustrating... anything pertaining to your Noobstown experiences.

Noobstown General / What's on your Noobstown Bucket List?« on: 26 Sep 2012, 07:13:24 »
After tonight's hearty in-game trek with new friends from Oakvale, I realized there's a whole lot more to do here at Noobstown than just mine and get a 16x16 plot somewhere. This topic is where you can share your own bucket list ideas: Things you've always wanted to do, or even things you've already done but consider an accomplishment.
Be respectful! Oh---and screenshots would be great! 35
Noobstown General / Mob mechanics« on: 24 Sep 2012, 04:14:05 »
Just a question or two about mobs since they're back on now:
(1) Are all mobs made to disappear at certain times in order to regulate the number of mobs? (In light of people's pets and non-spawner ranches disappearing) (2) Is breeding back as well?
