Gotham is officially open for business.
Please read the initial posting on the goals of the town, then post here or message me in game for an invite if you are interested.

Note: I know the topic header says v5 Mayors only, but in the thread it also says "Once V6 is release anyone may apply for Town creation Permissions." and V6 has been released.
IGN: Reigando.
WHY?: I wish to create a town where people can live with no taxes and no stifling of simple conversations.
If an international news story comes up, I want people to be able to speak their mind on it within the city limits and party group. I don't mean giving people carte blanche to start slinging racial slurs and things of the like, I just mean being able to carry on a conversation or even argument without immediately hearing "Guys, let's move away from this topic."
Furthermore, if someone gets bored with minecraft for a few weeks, or something else prevents them from logging in I want them to not have any fear of being kicked out of the town for not being able to cover taxes when they go away. Real life happens, you shouldn't have to worry about losing your stuff in the virtual world because of it.
Freedom is very important to me, and I would like to create a haven for like-minded people who share my love of freedom and prosperity.
EXPERIENCE: I've been a guild leader and/or strategist in multiple MMOs including WoW most prominently and Guild Wars 2 most recently. I've led both small elitist raid teams and large inclusive guilds pushing a thousand members.
TIME: I have military duties first and foremost, so if I'm activated I'm activated. However I tend to find a way to get on the internet even if I'm stuck in a barracks. As many have seen, I can dedicated a lot of time and effort to minecraft.
PLAN: Growth and prosperity. I already have all of the money required to start my town and a handful of players interested in joining it. I would like to get my permission to get started and get to work.
Cosmetically I am going for a dark urban feel with my structures, appropriate to the town's namesake, but other people are free to build what they want.
Agreement
I (Reigando) accept the liability of the role and all of the citizens in my town.
You'll be leaving in March right? Do you have any players that are able to keep the town afloat whilst you are offline or when you have a reduced amount of time? We want to try and keep the town community active and interesting, instead of having lots of ghost towns. Are there sub-mayors willing to help you with this place? Just to confirm before we accept the application, otherwise you seem to have a good plan/idea for your town. Best of luck!
I will still have internet in March, it'll just be limited. I'll still be around, just not in the extreme amounts I currently am. I am in the nerdy side of the military, so being on a computer all day professionally is kinda what I do. I have not yet decided to promote anyone to sub-mayor, but I have a couple people interested in the position that I am feeling out.

I have the 850k, I have one of my homes set on the start point for the city, and I have my application to become a mayor in.
As soon as I get permission, the town will go live.

I don't see a horse for sale in the token shop, is that no longer the way to get a white horse?

I'm already having certain items pile up with no one in sight interested in buying them. I (and I'm sure others) would like to see an option to pawn off more stuff.
Examples: Coal Redstone Sugarcane Excavated discs Cocoa beans Logs Flowers
These are just some examples of things that pile up that no one seems interested in buying because they're so easily obtained. (Also, anyone reading this thread who actually does want to buy them...message me to get them in bulk!)
A boost in reward money for kills would also be nice, for the time and danger of fighting you get less reward than digging dirt.

The attempted segregation doesn't really do much to hinder global congestion, mostly it just makes people double post what they said after they realize they said it in the wrong channel.
I'm all for it being optional, but having my chat switched around each time I drop back home to drop off my bounty from the last trip to the mining world...it's quite annoying.

Having repair being difficult as it is now will make it a skill worth having. With only a limited amount of people with the dedication to get the ability it'll give players a reason to go to blacksmiths to get their items repaired. Plus, there's not a lot of inherent difficulty in mcmmo, so having something difficult gives people something to achieve.
Also, perhaps give an extra incentive to the repair, like 100% chance to keep enchantments after a very high level.

None of the above.
Gotham is the correct answer.

Jinxes don't exist. Neither does luck.
It's all just probability being taken personally.

Now that launch is approaching, I just wanted to mention that I still plan to build up my funds and apply for and buy a town as soon as possible. So, for those who expressed interest if you're still interested that's great, I'll get the ball rolling on that quickly.

I guessed feb. 7th first, I WIN!
Save that "I WIN!" for when it actually happens.

I will get a whole 3 weeks of playtime to shoot up on the mcmmo charts and give people something to aim for while I'm sorta gone.

I will be moved out of my home and onto a barracks on March 3rd and won't get internet set up there for probably at least a week (and then will have very limited time to actually use it), so I'm gonna guess it'll come out March 1st when I'm busy getting ready to move.

And this was supposed to last what, 7-14 days ? XD
Yup, the original estimate was a week after V5 went down. 4 months later...

You could always build a village within your town and get some iron golems.

Just gonna grab myself a nice hunk of ocean to make my grindhouse. If I want a pretty landscape, I'll build one.

Even the second test build still have problems with crashes and worlds needing backups in extreme cases so I wouldn't really expect the first version to handle stuff any better.
Crashes every 5 minutes seems more related to that server admins faults than to bukkit itself, anyway.
Not to crash your parties, but I wouldn't feel safe with anything being dragged on from a patchwork/legacy version since any following fix could result in previous data becoming garbage (mmoskills, other stats, builds, extra blocks, etc).
Feeling unsafe isn't as bad as feeling bored. Anyways, I've played on several mcmmo servers that have made the change over to 1.7 who have had no or minimal problems.

I cant wait! im glad about the delay because i am getting faster internet on the 3rd and won't miss out on the release. right now when i play multiplayer on mc, i have a 3 minute delay between the server and my computer, so the faster internet should help!
Whoa, are you still on 56k?
