Really people? Call in sick to work to play minecraft? Get some responsibility. I for one will be making it to work.

It's for mature players only because I don't want to avoid basic topics of conversation within the town's community.

If people dub themselves mature enough to handle that environment, I will let them in, if they prove to not be mature enough after I actually see them in action, I will kick them out. Simple enough.

I understand building a new server and testing all the new plugins that are to be implemented...

What I don't understand is shutting down the old server before all that was done and ready.

I'll start alone if I gotta, but more the merrier.

November 1st, presuming Friday counts as "weekend", otherwise the 2nd.

Slightly worried about my safety. V6 was already going to be like a new toy, but now noobween is already coming too? I might explode into little pieces of speaking purple fur from all the fun.  =^..^=

A little off topic: sorry to everyone having trouble with schedules ^^;

Very off topic: Water kitty kitty, and Briana did you guys get your lil ID tag name picture things at the end of your messages done at the same place? they are really cute, and I am slightly jealous   <_<;;

Did you mean me by "Briana" or did you mean someone else??

I'm going to speculate and say yes since you and Tidal have very similar footers.

A VoIP might not be a bad idea, but one I would look into after building more of a playerbase. Only a handful of people have expressed their interest so far.

Just take it to private chat.

Yeah, that's part of the point of this town...to establish a community with a private chat. That's why in my little spiel about it I also invite members of other towns to join the chat, even if they don't join the city

My measure of maturity has nothing to do with age, but rather with content. If you shy away from basic topical discussions outside of minecraft, I would consider that immature and sheltered. That's what I mean to avoid with the label "mature".

So while I don't care about specific numbers of age, I would prefer not to have a 5 year old in my community who's parents don't want them to hear a discussion on say (ALERT, DON'T READ THE FOLLOWING WITHOUT PARENTAL CONSENT) that crazy lady who tried to drive her car into the White House.

I understand the chat filters will still be in place, I don't really care about that, I'm professionally a seaman, I already get to cuss like one enough in my real life.

I do however care about being able to talk in an environment where "Hey let's not talk about that" is not the end of a completely benign conversation about some public issue. More than a couple times I have been witness to discussions being squashed by moderators and members of the community. Non-offensive, perfectly acceptable topics mind you.

800 blocks of land isn't much when you're working on a big project.

Towns & Nations / Gotham. For mature players only.
« on: 3 Oct 2013, 21:31:13 »
So, in V6 I intend to create a town named Gotham. I also intend to make a nation named Earth-two.

Basic ideals of this nation:
Freedom of speech. Within the bounds of the town's private chat group, no language or content restrictions. You can talk like an adult without fear of retribution. This is the biggest and most important ideal of the city. Even if you don't want to be a member of the city, you're welcome to join the chat group.

Tax-free property. No worrying about daily fees and potentially losing your claims because you stop playing minecraft for a week. Free plots as well.

Sensible mediation. I will work to resolve any internal issues people may have with each other in a fair manner. If you have an issue with another member about property locations or personality conflicts, I will do what I can to resolve the problem.

Help from Reigando. I offer free repairs and discounted sales to Gothamites. It's good to be in league with me.

Given the level of freedom I want people to have within this community, there's not much need for strict rules. There are many things I discourage, like idiocy in general, but I will not ban even that. Griefing and spamming are really the only things I can think of I specifically won't allow because they are disruptive and destructive.

I intend to host community events with prizes provided by myself and anyone who wants to donate. This would of course have to wait until after a bit of a player base is developed.

One such event I would like to do is "Iron Crafter", a take on iron chef where all participants must craft a certain type of structure and/or use a specific block as their primary ingredient.

I would like to have an exclusive community market where people can buy/sell at slightly discounted prices to one another. With the auction house, not sure how much people will care about using chest shops, but I still like them.

If you're interested in joining or have any questions or suggestions, feel free to post on this thread, private message me on here, or message in game.

I do, and my payday is the first of the month. Well it's the third and still not a dime, and not a word about when it's actually coming either. They didn't even tell us we definitely wouldn't be getting paid, they just told us we might not be and that wishy-washy statement was a few days before it happened.

Do you have to be a town owner from v5 to apply for a town? I remember reading that somewhere a long time ago. Also would being a sub-mayor count?

Also Congratz Bernard

To pre-apply (as in apply now when it's not even up) and be automatically accepted you have to be a V5 mayor. I don't think sub-mayors count if I recall correctly.

Anyone can apply to be a mayor once V6 is started and you have the money to make the town.

Unless you get a DeLorean up to 88 miles an hour, yeah, too late.

They said on the update thread they're building a new machine and would let people know when that's finished, haven't seen an update since so apparently they don't even have the server yet let alone have the server prepared to launch. I wouldn't count on this weekend, so go out and have a real life while you can.

With all the IT people in this thread, can anyone convince my cable company to upgrade our infrastructure?  Please?  Our latency isn't bad, but the speeds most of you are getting make it seem like we're a decade behind in technology here...

You could only convince the company to upgrade if you could convince them that the cost of the upgrades will generate sales profit that outweighs the cost within the next few quarters. Long term investments and keeping customers around to keep getting money out of them doesn't equate into the average company's thoughts, they just care about the next few quarters, and most likely they wouldn't make the money back that quickly.

That's too bad, I liked doing /sell all so I could speed up my mining trips(on other servers I normally just toss my cobble). Auctioning stacks of cobblestone sounds like it'll be more trouble than it's worth and I'll probably go back to tossing.

Wonder with no /shop where the initial noobz will come from.
