Towns & Nations / The Forthwind Resurrection« on: 11 Dec 2011, 20:55:41 »
Yes, we're back! Forthwind version 3 is up and running, and ready for some more action. Nothing big has been happening since we were more focused on getting the town up and running, but now that's over, we can get started! We do have a few things planned, and even something under construction, so stick around for more.
One important thing mayor Killerpie1 thought up is the Claim now, Pay later system. This has proved itself to be very helpful to those who need a home or shop now, and will pledge to pay by next week. I guess that's it for now, so I'll be posting more as we go along! 35

Veterans are people who donated to the server before today(which is the day that Noobstown v5 came out). So you won't be able to become a veteran now.

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Idea: The essentials money system« on: 3 Nov 2011, 00:21:37 »
I get what you are saying, but for now, just in the temp server, use the built in money system? After the temp server is gone, it doesn't matter any more.

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Idea: The essentials money system« on: 2 Nov 2011, 03:24:37 »
I've been thinking about it, and I think that I've come up with a step-by-step process to hopefully further convince people.
1) Foob locks the permissions on the /sell command, stopping people from selling infinite amounts of dirt. Just in case someone starts selling right away(further explained below). 2) He wipes everyone's current money balance. This prevents any advantage at the start, also in case they sold a whole lot of stuff in preparation. 3) In order to do this, someone has to make the money. Fatnoob (or someone deemed responsible for this task, the treasurer) "prints", or makes the money, through selling a whole lot of stuff, or just spawning it into their account. Here is where it splits into two different scenarios. Each has their own pro's and con's. Scenario 1 -- Trickle-Down Economy 4) The treasurer divvy's up the money between the moderators (think of it as a "salary" for being an op), and are strongly encouraged to forego spawning stuff in and instead purchasing them from shop owners. In turn these shop owners buy stuff also, and those people buy stuff. Wala, you have now hopefully created a stable trickle-down economy. In order for this to work, the op's have to be paid at "regular" times(every 3-4 weeks, to hopefully keep a slow inflation rate), and the treasurer has to refrain from creating money for their own purposes. Pro's : Theoretically promotes business growth, gives a sense of accomplishment for working for it. Con's: A handful of people might get super rich, hoarding the money, and stymieing the economy. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Scenario 2 -- "Communism" (Very loose application) 4) The treasurer divides the money between everyone equally. Now every person has money to spend right away. Shop owners quickly make money through this. Again, the treasurer must do this at regular intervals, and refrain from spawning in money for themselves. Pro's : Everybody has the money right away, theoretically jump-starts the economy. Con's: People don't have to work for the money. Again, a handful of people might hoard all of the money, circulation ceases. I know I'm messing with economics, which is way out of my league, but bartering is also somewhat complicated, and using iron bars is almost the same as using coins, but can be used up after a while. Again, post any comments, additional suggestions, etc. about this. 41
Suggestions & Ideas / Idea: The essentials money system« on: 2 Nov 2011, 02:37:38 »
Well, this isn't as much as a suggestion for plugins to be put in, but it is one anyways. Since Foob hasn't put in the iConomy plugin, why not use the money system that is already here? One of the plugins (I think it's Essentials) has a money system, allowing the user to sell items for cash, and pay others. It isn't as good as iConomy, where cash and items are trade-able both ways, but looking at how the currency system runs in today's nations, it is feasible.
Any comments, additional suggestions, etc. please post. I would like to know what people think! 42

Towns & Nations / The NEW Forthwind« on: 20 Aug 2011, 03:42:42 »
We've been through a fire, lava flood, THE flood, and utter destruction many times over, but we're back! Forthwind is still technically under construction, but now because of our new outpost (conveniently placed on the old location of Balcombe), we are ready for even more!
Because plot space in the Forthwind Biodome(WIP) is scarce, we've been locked in our offices, pummeling ourselves hours on end to come up with a solution to our major problem, and, EUREKA!, the Balcombe Outpost is open for business, along with the skillful architecture of it's previous owners.(Btw, to whoever built the mountain fortress, you did an amazing job). The Forthwind Bidome, from the roof of Mayor Killerpie1's House. Our piston gate, to keep the chat command challenged out. (Built by Viciousvinny, Forthwind's official builder, and the most sane of all the TA's) Speaking of sanity, this is our Insane Asylum / Jail. Asylum Lobby / waiting room. Now, back to your regularly scheduled programming: City Hall entrance hall. The building where This was where we decided Casual Friday was illegal. Some serious(lol) stuff goes on in here. Balcombe Outpost HQ. Nothing even goes on here. The plots we Businesses in Forthwind: Killerpie1's Diner(if you can't read the text on the image for some insane reason). Open seven days a week, from: Whenever-the-hell-killerpie1's-on AM to when-he-stops-selling PM MTZ (Mountain Time Zone). We have tons of open plots now, so we'd love if you would come and build a house or open a business! More pictures of our wonderful town to come! 50
Noobstown General / NOW HIRING, CLEARING LAND« on: 28 Jul 2011, 18:45:56 »
I need help clearing massive amounts of land, to build the first dome. This area is right next to the current Forthwind. I will be able to pay about 1000 Nz per day, plus anything you gather while digging and mining away all that stone. I will also provide free cake. If you would like to help, post below and I'll set something up.
