Im talking about a square, the actual footprint

The actual footprint of 50 chunks is 12800 blocks. (256*50)
You also can't make a square with 50 chunks, it was just an estimation of what he needed.

Okay so, a chunk is 16 by 16 blocks, you have 50 chunks and we are gonna make a nice square. So 25x25,
25 = 400 blocks long, so you get a square of 400 by 400 blocks
25x25 != 50.  50 isn't even a square number to begin with but the side would be ~7 chunks anyway.

I had huge numbers because I thought of a 50 by 50 chunks square (the word "plot" put me off).
Same goes for the 400 chunks, I thought of a 400x400 chunks square.

So... yeah. Multiplications.
I am confused now, how many chunks does he need... Forget my first math piece. But if he nees 50 chunks that is 12800 yea... This is all confusing the hell out of me.

EDIT: I need SP world edit badly NOW xD, makes live alot easier.

Batuus,

I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from San Diego State University.  I have worked at NASA for over 20 years.  Not saying I can't be wrong from time to time, but I do know math.  I was only referring to the horizontal footprint (or plan view, if I may) I need to build my house (with a small buffer) which is roughly 120 x 120 or approximately 50 chunks.  Although I have not seen much of the V6 spawn, I would imagine it is probably on the order of 1000 chunks (horizontal).

That's all I got to say about that, so I'll step off.

Thanks,

Max
Im talking about a square, the actual footprint, but anyways lets be nice and polite against eachother again?
It makes the world a better place really.

What?  We start with 10000 times more land than you did in v5?  Where do you get that?  Wilderness land was free and there was no limit on how big you could build.

Stop talking down to me, I don't appreciate it one bit.  I have just as much right to express my opinion as anyone else.

Max

I am trying to be nice with you, but you are not letting me.
I rather quit this discussion before it gets out of hand and one of us might get a ban, so please be that mature as well.

Exactly what they said, 800 isn't much, considering I'm going to need to need about 400 wilderness plots for my own project, which is about 100.000 blocks of land.

Err no. 50 chunks is not 800, it's 800 squared = 640thousands blocks (not counting vertical space)

I doubt you actually need 400 chunks either:
400x16 = 6400. That's a 40960000 surface.   40 Millions blocks. Not 100k.

If you count vertical space multiply by the sky limit >_>

Anyway there is no static limit. Most probably they will enforce a limit later on to avoid a ghost-town sprawl.
I hope the wilderness won't become just a dump for ginormous statues.

Er no.  Each chunk is only 16x16 or 256 blocks.  120x120 is 14400 blocks (not 640thousands).  Divide 14400 by 256 and you get approx 56 chunks.  I said ~50 which would suffice.

What the hell do you guys need that many land for?
Unless you are gonna rebuild the V6 spawn, I can't really imagine what else you would wanna build thats giving you a use. Also by the time you even have the materials to start building, you will probably have enough land to make your project, because if these projects are as huge as your guys say, then you'll need alot of materials right...?
Also a very  very big note... Make sure to plan your projects well, and ofcourse make sure you can keep your motivation going, because a small finished and amazing looking project is better then 1 huge ugly unfinished project.

I hope that comment wasn't to me, cause I don't appriciate your tone.  50 chunks is NOT a huge amount of land.  Did you see my photos?  I don't like you telling me how to plan my work either.

Max
Honestly thats pretty rude, i'm just giving advice and my opinion.
Yes I have seen pictures of your house, have you ever seen v6 spawn in the total?
Please stop complaining about the ground you get, you start with 10000 freaking times more land then you did in v5, just play do your thing and earn more land simple as that.

V6 probably won't come out until Minecraft 1.7 is released, so they can use the new biomes like the mesa, savanna, birch forest etc. to generate the world.  This means they would have to take the time to port the server and its plugins to 1.7.
I don't know where you got this from, but thats certainly not true.
The switch from 1.6.4 to 1.7 should go should be smooth if Mojang did their job right with the conversion system.
Other then that, imagine IF we would wait for 1.7, that would take weeks and weeks, not only because of 1.7 itself but as Darkwings said, all plugins have to be updated, this can take from a week, to maybe 2 weeks.
So theres just no reason to NOT start V6 on 1.6.4 right?

No thats perfectly fine, im glad to see that more people on these forums are intrested in 3d modelling, the model is nice, not to high poly or detailed, but the texture does it and thats what matters with game related models. When it comes to the texturepart, im not to great at that yet, so most of my stuff is just bare.

I wasn't even finished with the initial model, so I wasn't close enough to color or texture the model. I don't have the program I used on my computer, as it's only for my school's computers. However, if I get to do another day of 3-D modeling, I'll probably either work on that one or start a less detailed one so I can give more color and such to it.
Its a Autodesk program right? If so register on the Autodesk student website, then you can download free software. The only limit is that you are not allowed to distribute models and stuff for money.

Anyways, update on one of my shotgun models, Im gonna redo the stock, but I made the ejection part, which was a bit of a butthurt.

In my engineering classes I've had over the past couple years, we've used the Autodesk Inventor program for 3-D modeling. Last year we had visitors from middle schools come and I was at the station using the program. During the three hours we had, I created this:

It's supposed to be this if you can't tell:

Obviously it's nowhere near the caliber of yours, but I actually had to relearn how to use the program since we don't use it much in my current classes. But these kinds of things interest me, and so yours made me want to post mine, if you don't care. ^-^

Ah, I see. I don't think I've ever seen that program before. My college professors have us using Maya so it's the only one I know rather well.

I was more meaning like what the gun model was to be used for, or if by your "It's just a hobby" statement you're saying that you're just modeling them for fun which I could certainly understand. Your first post said something about importing into a "TES:IV" though so I wasn't sure if it was for some kind of game mod or something.
Mostly I just model for practice, and if something turned out great I consider putting it in a game and IF its just amazingly done then I might make a mod of it. (I have made a sword mod for GTA SA before)

I'm curious, is this in Maya?

It looks pretty cool though! I'm also curious what you're modeling for?
No, the program I use is the latest Autodesk 3ds max, I kinda prefer it over maya for its layout, I just find it more ideal for modelling. Not that maya is a bad program but I think the layout of it is just more suited for 3d animating.

What im modelling it for?, im not sure if I get the question right but, I just do it as a hobby really.
Maybe one day it wil turn into my work, who knows..

While this may look similar in design to what I posted above, it is gonna be a completely different shotgun as you can see in the background picture.

More stuff may come, depending if im in the mood to model more, but ive been having plans on trying to import stuff into TES:IV

Noobstown General / Re: Without Minecraft- What would you do?
« on: 29 Sep 2013, 02:45:39 »
Without minecraft, I would have probably focussed more on 3d modelling and game developing.
Although, im getting back into it, also trying to know the basics of most development kits, like UDK, even the creationkit/sett (aka TES SDKs)

After reading the whole thread again, im getting slightly annoyed by the fact that people complain about the reward and being in a group. The Thread clearly did not say you should build in a group, then its just common sense that the reward will be for 1 person. In all the time people complained they could have build something for themselfs, yet they still have 7 days to build something. So just go build something already,  and put some passion and love in it because its INSTANT veteran we are talking about here, its a quite big award you get.

Just to set the record straight, Olah0001, zebra903, SmithB0118, deebles17, and myself are doing a project together. I agree with Olah on everything he has said and will again cite Fatnoob's comment for you. "WINNER(S) of the Build Competition 1 will get 5000 tokens and instant Veteran status. Also, your build will be featured at the spawn of the museum world in V6, forever leaving your mark in V6." I can even get sworn testimonies from each and every one of the people stated above that it is the 5 of us and only the 5 of us that are working on this project. THIS MESSAGE I GIVE DIRECTLY TO THE ADMINS: IF OUR GROUP WINS THIS COMPETITION I FULLY EXPECT EACH OF US TO BE GIVEN VETERAN. THE TOKENS CAN BE SPLIT INTO 1K PER PERSON, I DON'T CARE ABOUT THAT, BUT AS EACH OF US HAS PUT IN A FAIR SHARE OF WORK AND OUR TIME WE SHOULD ALL BE GIVEN EQUAL RECOGNITION FOR IT.

PS. If this seems a bit radical, I apologize beforehand. I am just trying to be a good friends. True friends stick up and fight for each other and that's what I'm trying to do here.

~HarryX11
I respect you for helping your friends, and I will talk with foob about this.
1 thing you expect to get all your friends veteran, you just better wait till the competition is over you know...

@olah0001: group as option given? If you can show me  a quote of the main post rules with that standing in it..

« on: 7 May 2013, 22:20:03 »
ok so I was just on and I talked to lukestar04 he asked me if I was working with someone and I am he then said that he asked foob and he said that foob said only one person would get it. why wouldn't the whole group get it ? (if we were to win that is) please answer. it even says in the original post by foob “Winner(s) of the build will be required to either send or give co-ordinates to the build, if building outside the server you must be aware of .schematic files as this will be the only format we accept outside the server.” so can someone clarify for me ? im confused now. unless luke is a lire...
Just to give everyone a fair slice, and also people would be able to steal credits for work others might have done, also it might be able to abuse it very easily: let someone build something epic, and then saying you build it with your friends and it will give all of you veteran. That would be very unfair wouldnt it?

@cite and miner I wanna get this clear: this is not a direct copy of flintwood, neither is this "flintwood style" its my style, used by me for me and for others. This is no town build style just a building style I prefer and like.

@adrian, im pretty sure that foob will release more info about that when we are a bit further :P

@Anime, Jay, Magic and Miner foob and me are trying to make V6 alot more interactive, that includes alot more automated minigames.
but possibly we are gonna include other things that helps you train you skills or just for amusement.
@edix, like I said foob will probably release more info about it.

Hope to see even more suggestions.

Other / Re: Classic Video Games, Or Modern Video Games?
« on: 29 Apr 2013, 10:20:36 »
I voted for classic, just because classic games just have better gameplay in my opinion.
Most modern games are pretty, but easy and short and I miss the feeling I get from older games when you actaully won something.
