Actually, the Towny plugin actually has something like this! I've wanted to use it for a while, although I think nations need to fight I don't know if it'll work for towns...
We should have at least 2 nations. That way cities can be part of them and we can have a "balance of power". this might turn into something like a civ game.

good idea dean. Being a captain in the morningwood army, i especially like the forts and castles part, as that is my job as captain. I would love the occasional war, just to liven things up a little. How would people win? Would there be any conditions for it? e.g., "all of this cities forts and castles were taken/destroyed, the other city wins" or just until everyone is sick of fighting?

Actually, yeah. Then you would have just a huge sector of wilderness to explore and settle in, rather than little splotches of it here and there.

Well, i saw that rail system from my tower, and decided to take it one day. No offense, but it was really slow. I crept along at half a block per second. Then, i finally hit the powered rails, and i sped along. Perhaps some of the powered rails were griefed or werent powered? Anyway, i think the idea is sound, and even suggested it myself one time when i was new here, but it was shot down, everyone said "thats what spawns are for hurr durr" I think its a good idea, but i think in v4 you should make roads. I think roads look better, and dont require carts. I would make them out of sandstone, like in morningwood. And there could be road signs, pointing people to towns and settlements (which arent towns yet, but hae a lot of people, trust me, there were a lot in v2.) and shops. Also, you could charge people to build their shops right next to the road. (maybe). anyway, just some suggestions. Yes, rail systems are a good idea.

Does this mean that i may not use the sand/glass/coal loophole in which you can sell coal for 8Nz each? should i stop just to be safe?

Thanks heavensords. Also, if foob adds coal or charcoal to the shop, and if you can buy it for less than 8Nz, infinite money loophole created. Say it sells for 4 each, stacks of coal from the shop are now worth only 250 by the aforementioned technique, but infinite. If one has the furnaces, one can make infinite money in a relatively short time, especially with help. I think Joe will not add coal however, simply because of this post. But if he does, free money, and therefore free diamonds! There was actually a time when charcoal was on the shoplist, i think it sold for 3? maybe im wrong, but charcoal was definitely on there, if only we had known sooner!

So when the time comes, will everyone be whitelisted?

Today i found out how to effectively sell a stack of coal for 500 Nz. All you do is purchase 8 stacks of sand, smelt it, and sell the glass. The sand should run you about 1500, and the glass should sell for around 2000, and all you have lost is a stack of coal, therefore 1 stack of coal =500. therefore by the same logic, 2 stacks of coal= 1 diamond, if you buy it from the store. With coal being the most abundant ore in the game, and with it being possible to get a whole stack from just one vein, and with coal not being sellable in the game, this is a very handy glitch. It's not even a glitch, its like a loophole. Roughly 8Nz per coal. Im not sure if this is already done en masse here, but i just discovered it, and made 3000 from a few stacks of coal people gave me for free.

The colosseum would be an excellent creation! +1 respect Matt. And there should be hostile wolves and the occasional zombie spawning like crazy. Kind of like the arena, but with a different theme, and in daylight. And technically, people in the stands would be able to charge into the center and kill stuff. Oh, and spectators could choose what will spawn next. Like "10 zombies" or "30 wolves". And the occasional ghast.

On the subject of rebuilding towns, will anyone need raw building materials? For example, I would be happy to supply lots of cobble to the rebuilding of Cobblevour, or lots of wood to the rebuilding of MorningWood. If you have a town and need lots of wood or cobble, and are willing to pay, (it will be cheaper than the store) I will go out and get metric assloads of stuff for you. I dont know if this is an issue, but if you want lots of stuff, post.

OK, well not a perfect cube obviously, it will have a tree farm on the roof, and will have a balcony overlooking the street, with maybe a big radio telescope somewhere, but no, it will not be an eyesore, or a perfect cube. I meant that only in size, lke magicmans one that had to be torn down. You will not be disappointed, trust me.

That is correct, 10,000.. But a 32x32 house seems like a bit much? Are you going to have a garden or anything or will it just be one huge house?
I have not decided, although it will probably have a tree farm. Expect a big amazing cube, kind of like magicman's one that had to be torn down, but it will be legal

Jon, as to the first plot being free, how much will adding 3 more to it cost? will it be the usual 15,000 as you said on the town's site? Or will it be 10,000, as you get one free? I am asking this because i want to make a 32x32 house, so the "first plot free " rule should make the expanded plot 10,000 for previous residents.

How about you dont name it after the mushroom at all, name it something normal, to confuse people. like, detroit, or call it cedarburg, or grand rapids. something you dont think twice about.

A good idea would be obsidian tools. That, and fuelless furnaces. They would take 10 glowstone, 10 redstone, 10 diamond, all stacked in a line, then the sides would be stone. The glowstone would be enhanced by the redstone, and the light would be focused to a point by the diamonds.

well idk about you guys, but i am gonna make a tnt cannon, place some redstone dust in the barrel, shoot it into the sky, and watch the tnt disperse the redstone, which will cause a chain reaction making it lightning around 700% more. Then, i will do the same with glowstone dust, which will bind with the water on a molecular level, making all rain and water glow faintly. Finally, i will pour tons of water onto tons of lava, the intense heat feeing the hydrogen and oxygen. The O2 will enable fire again, the hydrogen will bind with water in the clouds, causing all rain to be not water, but deuterium oxide. This will land on glowstone, whose photons and trace free neutron emissions will be reflected by said D2O, causing meltdowns anywhere there is glowstone. These will be enhanced by the redstone also i n the water. This will cause so much destruction...

I shall collect as much lava as possible and pour it around MorningWood, which will mix with the water to make a natural wall of cobblestone. Whatever space is left will be filled by more cobble, from an infinite cobble machine. FLOOD AVERTED
