Server Announcements / Re: Happy 4th Birthday Noobstown!
« on: 19 Mar 2015, 23:16:18 »
Which version did you start?:V2 i think, the one with the sandstone spawn that was supposed to look like the thing from LOTR
How did you find us?: friend from school by the name of ajhl49 introduced me to minecraft and this server!
Most fondest memory inside the server?: working on the town spawn and outpost for Forthwind
Favourite friend?: i don't really know if i have any "friends" on here, that i really talk to a lot :P
Favourite Town?: Forthwind! (and Townsville) (don't tell nebih)
Favourite Event?: the ones i don't have to be at work during!
Favourite Season (Noobween, Noobentines, Noobmas.. etc) Noobmas
What you love about the server: the community, and being able to just come online, dig stuff and talk about random stuff with random noobs
Any additional stories/tales you wish to tell: one time, angel_lord hit me with lightning and also gave me a stack of porkchops, and this was before food stacked. a stack of pork was quite convenient

another time i was talking with ajhl49 at school about making a forthwind arena, so he marked out an area, we decided against making it, and i just dug an 80x80 hole to bedrock because why not

i just remember logging on for one of the first times and looking for a town, Geoboy66 invited me to Entrolla, where I lived for about 15 minutes before moving to MorningWood and making a house that later burned down halfway

I "snaill" something "fishy". Maybe you're "net" telling us something. Like you're "wrasseling" with our minds. Why don't you "krab" a "snaire" and "sharek" with us, it'll make everything "baiter". I mean who just accidentally "try outs" the name changer. Maybe you're upset over a lass and "flound her" attitude to be "biass".

That was absolutely criminal.

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: BEACONS IN THE WILD
« on: 8 Feb 2015, 00:53:46 »
I think the possibility for beacon effects extending a few blocks into someone else's chunks is not a good enough reason for disabling them in the wild. I only speak for myself here, but i would literally not care if a neighbor had a beacon covering part of my base. Honestly, if I had a beacon and a neighbor didn't like it, he could go and deal with it.

I mean, were there any actual instances of beacon effects leaking out of someone's chunks causing problems, and are a few complaints really enough to warrant a serverwide ban on wildy beacons? I think it causes more frustration than it prevents. Lots of people have farms or grinders, or whatever in the wilderness, because it's the best place to put huge things like that without worrying about town limits.

Then, theres people like me who want a beacon in their base, would profit greatly from it, and have literally nobody for thousands of blocks around, much less anyone living right next to them to have literally their entire life ruined forever by getting a speed boost for 8 seconds whenever they go over into that one corner of their base.

Yes, I've probably repeated the very valid points made by everyone else in this thread, but whatever, it bears repeating.

Oh. So... my potato smelting factory base thing is useless.

Thanks for telling me, lol.

« on: 29 Jan 2015, 21:16:21 »
In the smelting skill, the vanilla XP multiplier increases the levels you get from smelting stuff.
Anyway, I've been at 2X for a while, which got me 28 levels from 32 stacks of potatoes smelted. Now, at 1395 XP required for 30 levels, and vanilla XP from a single potato being .35, the 2X making it .7, that math is roughly correct. Now, at 3X, 30 levels should come to around 21 stacks. I've tested this and only got to level 22. I did 32 stacks out of curiosity and still only get to level 28.

So, my point is, either vanilla XP multiplier is broken or there's some bug, or it's been quietly nerfed.
Please help :/

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Auto-replant!
« on: 29 Jan 2015, 04:57:05 »
Anything that allows me to disable it is fine by me  :D

Also, i had no idea a fortune 3 axe increased potato yield. Being a level 39 potatosmith, i feel ashamed at having been unaware.

For wheat, it uses the double-dropped wheat to plant instead of the seeds, so you are left with extra seeds and a completely negated double drop rate for the actual intended crop. For potatoes, I simply don't like the look of it and find going back to break them all horribly inefficient.

I find it annoying, and yes that's subjective, and yes that counts as a reason. I'm not saying to get rid of it, I'm asking for an option to turn it off for me, just like people can do with /flux.

« on: 27 Jan 2015, 19:00:05 »
So when you farm stuff, you know how it has a chance to automatically replant? I find that super annoying.
I suggest a command to disable the Green Thumb ability (for replanting, not the kind that makes mossy stones and stuff) much like /flux for flux mining.

Thanks

Noobstown General / Re: Player Bank?
« on: 19 Jan 2015, 07:29:14 »
There's no point to that, unless you're talking about a loan system. While such a system would be cool, it is fraught with problems. If not mediated by a server plugin, it would be dependent on the honor system, and that just wouldn't work. And who would throw in the first few million noobs to get it going? If mediated by a server plugin, what happens when you default? And how does the server not implode with lag?

A regular old bank where you store noobs just seems to solve a problem that doesn't exist.

I can understand people's frustration at this, but I'm glad for this. Repair is hard to level, I myself am still only at iron. This opens up the ability to the scrubs like me, I'm really excited.

My power level is over 1300, and I'll admit, I am no good at attacking mobs, at least with mcmmo skills, otherwise im decent. However, I am good at enchanting and have a great XP farm, so if you're interested in that...

Market Place / Need a supplier!
« on: 28 May 2014, 22:05:50 »
I am building this in the Wild, and am going to need absolute tons of the following:

Quartz Blocks
Coal Blocks
Lapis Blocks

I don't have the required millions this will need right now, but I need a reliable supplier to sell me this stuff en masse as I get the money. I currently have 150k to spend on it.

Town you were apart of in V5? If no town, please say 'no town previously': Forthwind, then Townsville.
Why do you want to become a resident of Windermere?: I am looking for a nice town that isn't too big to live in and build a house in until nebih needs help with Deephaven. At the very least I would leave behind a neat house.
How long have you been a member of Noobscraft?: Registered some time in 2011, but played on the server since before then, before registration was required (about V2-ish)

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Better VIP kit armor
« on: 4 Mar 2014, 06:38:15 »
I know what you're talking about. I don't really want a ton of stuff, I would be very content with the xp bonus and the veteran armor, which up until a little while ago i did not know I could access.
That is all I had wanted, and it turns out VIPs had it all along! I am dumb, lol.

I understand the feeling of "Veterans worked for it, VIP's just threw them money" because it seems like SOME veterans didn't even start playing seriously until they realized they could earn veteran, and I don't mean to criticize anyone, but that seemed kind of cheap to me that total noobs to the server could just go all tryhard for a few weeks and get something that other people who had been on for a long time had been trying for playing regularly. (sorry if it seems like I'm complaining about my situation here, i'll admit that i pretty much quit playing once V6 was announced :P )
Same concept applies.

As a VIP who has been here since V2 for crying out loud, and is not a veteran...

-I was unaware that all VIPs had access to Veteran armor. That haste bonus is all I want.
-diamond is extremely OP
-The only ones who seem to be complaining about VIPs asking for too much here are veterans who joined in V5 and got their title by grinding skills 21/7 and always seem to think that a [Veteran] before their names makes them more important than a member.
I get the impression from this that a lot of Veterans see the VIPs as "new money".

I just want that Haste bonus.
