Hi all,

I'm going to try answer all of your questions in one post, so I apologise if this is a bit messy, please send me another message if you would like some more clarification on a rule!

One thing I wanted clarification on was the IP sending thing. The rule only says "in chat". Does this apply only to Global chat, or does it apply to local, party, PM, etc? I know this was a confusing thing in the last version to deal with so I just wanted further clarification in the rules itself so it's clear-cut whether it's not allowed period or just in certain things.
It applies to all chat channels, no IP's should be sent because they can be unsafe and cause issues with your account if you visit certain IP's. IP's sent in the global channel will be dealt with more strictly than those in private messages, simply because it affects more people in the global channel. The punishments are still the same but players that come online and spam advertise in the global channel can be jailed or suspended for longer amounts of time because they are breaking several rules.

Also, what exactly counts as an exploit? I know one thing people were wanting to do was to summon a dog at one end of a place and have it sit, then go a certain distance of blocks away and summon another one. It's kind of going against the plugin only wanting you to have one dog at a time. Would that be considered exploiting or is it just smart use of the plugin to have more dogs at once instead of having to go tame tons of them from a farm or such?

An exploit is something that give you an advantage over other players, such as 'clever use of game mechanics', obviously the punishments will be different depending on the severity of the exploit. Essentially using someone you shouldn't to your advantage for example the old piston exploits.

For the advertising, what about if we are directing players to the website or to Mineapoc? Would we still be banned?
You won't be banned for sending a link to MineApoc because its a server that we own, and we know its a safe link.

You say that you can't remove anything with out the owners permission...I assume that includes the staff permission also?
Staff will not remove your items unless they have permission from you, UNLESS they have to remove chests or furnace protection, for example if a plot that has been cleared that has locked items in it.

You mean in towns when someone is being kicked out of the town or removed from the town for inactivity per town rules? For when you need to get rid of their items and such?
Town owners HAVE to give a player 48 hours before they clear a players plot, otherwise it is griefing.

Good rules.  I assume the rules apply equally not only to members and guests, but also to moderators and prefects.

If so, will there be a separate mechanism to report a moderator or prefect that abuses the rules, or will the same "report user" be used for them too?

Prefects and Moderators are not exempt from the rules, they never have been. You can use the same system as you would to a player, however you can also send me a direct message if you don't feel comfortable making an official report - I answer every message I am sent and I would encourage you to send me messages if you have any concerns.

Alright, I'm glad to see these responses because they clear up a lot of confusion that sometimes happened in V5 because there just weren't as clear distinctions back then and I'm sure a lot of that had to do with just trying to figure out what would be the fairest set of rules.

I especially enjoy the 48 hours before clearing a plot, I know that in the town I'm wanting to make it'll be a month  of inactivity that occurs before actually getting around to clearing the plot itself. It was my experience that you'd just get around to doing that and then pop comes up the person again 1-2 days later angry about it. @.@

This would certainly help with that kind of situation, and it also helps to give them warning on both server PM and forum PM! Because I know that not everyone can be on the server itself daily but they'll at least be able to stop by and check out the forum. At least, in most cases unless it's extreme ones.

Thanks so much for the speedy replies, everything's just going so perfectly right now it's amazing. :D

So does that just mean Minecraft  IP''s Can't be sent or links to websites at all can't be sent?

Anything related to the promotion of any minecraft servers is not allowed, you can link mainstream websites like youtube and google etc.

I assume like before you can't post the link if the website you're linking to has the IP of another server on it, since that would count as trying to advertise that server? I remember something like that, or does it only count if it's clear the person was purposely trying to get them to go to the website to look at that IP?

Obvious ad-plastered or server-related pages are obvious, but nothing can prevent YT to put another server's name on the suggested video list. There's plenty of similar cases with other services.

When you link, you can't possibly have control on the content unless it's your own page, especially if it's a forum or any place where people could comment.

That would be paranoia.

Nah, I meant like if the page itself had the IP. Not if it had a link to another site that had it. Such as I'd seen people post up YT videos with the IP in the descrip as their secret way to spread the IP. Although from what I remember YT videos weren't allowed to be linked due to you can't check every single one for what content might not be appropriate within it.

Youtube channels can have a rating for determining approriate content (single videos too).
For common channels the above just translates into a disclaimer but, for monetization purposes, the ads partner can simply stop the monetization if the rating is not respected as part of the contract so uploaders are more likely to respect that.

An IP directly in the description is clearly intentional, but the commenting mechanism is easy to exploit to the point that YT was asked to rework it several times and is supposed to be work in progress.

Just saying... a determined ad spammer could simply link to a low visualizations video (existing or uploaded for this purpose) and spam the comment section with whatever is needed to be shown.
The video itself could be totally neutral in this regard and you wouldn't be able to track the uploader \:

There's also fake links (you can find them in basically each single visible enough comment section ever made).

(YT is used just as a well known example)

I plan on following rules a bit better than I did in V5 so V6 should be a bit smoother. Actually, HarryX11 also plans on following the rules better so V6 should be LOADS smoother  :P

It is the rules and feel of the server that I like most about this server, the overall friendliness of the server and the people on it are the very things that make Noobscraft the best server in MC, I've tried the biggest but prefer the best. Keep up all the great work I'm looking forward to V6 and all of the new friends I have made here,Hoppy.
