I was wondering how many Towny plots we can own in V6, I feel 40 is limiting to me, I would prefer more like 60 plots so there is no worry about feeling limited to how many plots you can own, my new house is going to be 54 plots big. xD

Your... New... House? 54 PLOTS BIG!? are you gone make a medieval castle or something? 1 chunk is 16x16, and if you multiply that with 54, that is A LOT of blocks... Probably bigger then your town Kingdom :p

Can't Wait!

I'm glad to see that you're dropping the town creation cost, this will hopefully add a little more variety in town types, allowing people to find the town right for them. I like the Chunky system as well, providing a safe, permanent place or just somewhere to hunker down until members can find a town.
Lag?
I see that the server is being moved to London. Will that possibly create lag for American players? I know that a large percent of members are British/European, but I'm just wondering.
Active again
A reset is a good reason to become active again. I became semi-rich, built my own mansion, and just lost the will to log on. Now that the world/data is being reset, it should be pretty interesting to start once fresh once again :)

I think the servers has always been in Europe, they are just being moved to a different area, or in this case London.

So it probably wont change if you are an American player, but that is just my guess.

The server is currently in Manchester (Another part of the Uk) and has been for the past year. We are moving to London to upgrade the machine and speed, which will be better for all players across the globe.

My major concern is about the Wilderness plot system... What about those people that are planning big, fancy solo projects in the Wilderness? Right now, in v5, you can make clear by laying out the foundation for example, that this area is claimed by you, and that something is planned for this area. How can we do that in V6? My big concern:

- People that will start inhabiting a plot that you had already planned for your project, but didn't have enough wilderness plots for. They can either do this without it being their intention, but I can also imagine that certain people with hatred towards someone will purposely buy plots next to someone's (planned) build, just to bug this person. How do you plan to handle this?

Ah yes. I can see the business model now. You only buy chunks based on their future worth to others and then hold out until you can turn a large profit. You would use your proceeds to buy other potentially sought after chunks in key locations, maybe even build something ugly, a monstrosity of netherrack and magenta wool perhaps, that is a blight upon the landscape. Players would rather drown you in noobz then to continue to look at it. A chunky version of domain name hoarding. As your parasitic empire grows you can almost completely encircle the wealthiest players who must either pay up to expand and remove your mal-formed constructions or relocate themselves completely.

Hey, you can still do this with our system. Each chunk you claim there is a locked zone next to it.. meaning every chunk around the one you claimed is only claimable by yourself, nobody can claim right up close to you unless you are merged. You get 10 free claims straight away. Claiming all those allows massive space to start off and then you can start purchasing massive amounts of land. Remember, if you are planning a large project shouldn't that be more of a town thing? If not, my suggestion would be to start off with a normal small land and once you are done farming and collecting money, wipe the plot. Obviously take your items and valuables first. Then once you have a large sum of money in the bank, head out towards free open space and start claiming masses of land for your 'fancy' project.

So when you have a 16x16 chunk you want to build on does that mean all the land below down to bedrock in that 16x16 chunk is protected for you too?

And everyone gets 10 x (16x16) chunks to begin with? Im not too bright, if so does that mean you could claim something like 48x48 ?

Sorry for sounding dumb!

The quote that I posted regarding chunky was from a previous post on v6.  Fatnoob has since decided to give players 10 free chunks to start with instead of one.  Each chunk you purchase is protected as high and as low as you can build.  From bedrock to sky.  10 chucks would be 10 16 x 16 squares.  However you choose to buy them.

Sounds great as it is! I am very excited for the new update but hope that I'll have time this summer to be able to improve my skill levels a bit more seeing that my playing time is limited because of school. I also would like to thank the Moderator team and the Admins for making my time in V5 great so thank you guys  :D

You need to claim the chunks smart if you want to max you area.
You would not be able to build in all chunks right away, but no one else would be able to claim them either.
I am assuming only chunks connected at the 16 block long borders will count, not the chunks connected at each others 1 block corners.
And assuming all 10 chunks need to form 1 layout. (if not you could 'claim' 90 chunks!)

Claimin your plot like this would leave you with a possible 26 Chunks :
Code: [Select]
  ----
 -XXXX-
 -X--X-
 -XXXX-
  ----

X = claimed plot
- = reserved plot in your name.

There might even be better patterns ?

30 chunks with some minor risks on the left flank

Code: [Select]
  ----
-XXXX-
 ---X-
 ---X-
-XXXX-
 ----

X = claimed plot
- = reserved plot in your name.

Building with your friend "Z", claiming 64 chunks

Code: [Select]
  -  -
-X--Z-
-X--Z-
-X--Z-
-X--Z-
-X--Z-
-X--Z-
-X--Z-
-X--Z-
-X--Z-
-X--Z-
 -  -

Or
    -   -    -
  - X--X--X-
-X--X--X--X-
  - X--X--X-
    -   -    -
With 26 border protected plots and only 10 claimed

^^^ that with 2 or 3 friends would be a scarily huge plot.

On another note I'm unimaginably glad to be able to play on this server again! I've been lost without it...
