Sharing a shop
« on: 24 Jul 2012, 18:15:43 »
I'm still feeling my way around the mods, features, and commands Noobstown has, but one in particular I haven't been able to find out about yet. If I were to set up a shop, can I share it and allow others to buy/sell within it? If so, does the shop signs reflect this? And how would I go about doing it?

I've been searching the forums without finding an answer to these questions, so if there is answers already posted, my apologies!

Thanks much!

This is possible if an admin enabled the chest shop security to rely on LWC. Which should be enabled since I would like this feature enabled to as I wish for my co-mayor to access my shop chests to restock aswell.

Of course you can. On any plot you can simply add someone as your friend with /resident friend add+ name (Make sure to type the name exactly as it is, all capitalization and everything needs to be perfect). This allows them to build/destroy/everything on the plots that you own. So then they could place down chests and use them as well.

You can also give people access to a privated chest by you with /cmodify name. So again they could then access the chests and restock/etc as needed.

Just make sure if you give people access to your chests that you completely trust them, as they then have the ability to steal from you and you probably wouldn't even realize it unless it was a big theft.

Cool beans, good to know it will work. And thanks TwistedLover, I had already figured that sharing chests could lead to potential issues, but some careful planning ahead of time can minimize that. But good reminder. :)

Yup! I like making sure people know to take precaution, especially over the internet. You may think you know someone and that they would never steal from you, but until they're tried you can't truly know for sure. ^^

Haven't seen many times where someone's let another person have access to their chests where they've stolen, but I'm not always on and they might not always notice, so I'm not sure how common it is. Or how common it is for someone to actually trust someone outside of real-life friends to have chest-access. :P

I can't answer for here (yet anyway :D ), but in previous online gaming I like to offer trust first with a "cover my hiney" process. Those who are good appreciate it, those that aren't will bite you anyway, and it gives an easy way to identify the difference between the two while maintaining a positive outlook (and not losing anything important!).
