For some reason the new mob "Wither Skeleton" the mob you have to kill for the item "Wither Skull" is no were to be seen, I don't know what is so bad about this mob that makes it not being enabled, it is used to create the new boss mob "The Wither" but when you can't place heads/skulls you can't make "The Wither" anyways so I don't see what the problem is ?

I am sure both me and many others want to stock up on "Wither Skulls" so we can spawn a bunch of "The Wither" boss when it gets enabled to place heads again, me myself need currently 4 "Nether Stars" so having the skulls ready would be great :)

It is not a very big deal really, but having the skulls done once you can spawn/make "The Wither" would make it 110% easier.

Villagers have been disabled since the release of 1.3. If that sets a precedent, then the re-enabling of Wither Skeletons will not be for a while.

Withers currently destroy blocks, like the Ender dragon, but can be summoned in the main world.

When a fix is implemented the Wither, and other features included in 1.4 will be added into the Server.

We haven't taken any specific steps to block the spawning of Wither Skeletons.

Please read information on the spawning of them. http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Wither_Skeleton#Spawning. They only spawn in newly generated Nether Fortresses, where the area is actually detected as being a fortress.

What you mean detected as a fortress? is not all nether fortress detected as a fortress? , if not you might want to restart the nether to fix it.

Me and Miner were running around for about thirty minutes and we found about five or more newly generated fortresses with nothing in them except from the basic netherwart, no wither skellys .

If you can make the wither, you could start up a beacon market.
