OFFICIAL NOOBSCRAFT TOWNY GAMES THREAD

Hello everyone. This is an informational thread on something I'm calling the Noobscraft Towny Games, a spinoff of the Hunger Games, but with a Noobscraft twist: it is a competition between towns and nations. Each arena must follow the arena guidelines, 8 chunks by 8 chunks. All of the towns in the Teltido Nation will definitely be competing in these games, but other nations will be required for the full potential of the game.

ARENA GUIDELINES:
1. Arenas must be 8 chunks by 8 chunks.
2. Towns must have at least 3 arenas.
3. Towns must be in a nation to of at least 3 towns to compete.

The tournament will take place once every two weeks and will go like this:

Round 1: Getting the tributes from your town. Up to 24 members in the round are allowed. The last two standing will move onto Round 2.

Round 2: The town tributes will fight other town tributes from their own nation. The winner will bring their fellow tribute to the Final Round. Maximum 24 tributes per National Round.

CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND: The nation champions will face each other to see who the champion of that Towny Games is. Last person standing wins all the glory. Maximum of 12 people in the championship arena.

If you are a NATION owner, you can follow the code below and have your nation and all its towns entered in the games.

Code: [Select]
Name of Nation:
How many Towns are in your Nation?
Will you follow the arena guidelines?
Will you follow the other stated rules?

Also, every six months, all of the winners of each Towny Games will fight in the Tournament of Champions. Any one who wins the Final Round once can not enter again until the Tournament of Champions is done.

The official rules and pictures of the prototype arenas will be posted at a later date.

It depends on this factor:

How many people want to fight in the Nation round?

If 2 or less per town, then they are automatically qualified, but it would be unfortunate because the Town Round brings out the best of the town fighters and shows who can use the land to their advantage the best.

Well, now i absolutely have to join a town in a big nation.
Why is it required that to compete, a town must be in a nation with three cities? Why can't independent cities and towns compete?

yea but the point is will it be like an actual hg where you pick two people and then people can take their place
or do u just volunteer and choose who you think is best... cause that's unfair for the people who want to try but aren't good

The reason I say no independent towns is because if you had an independent town, once the victors of the town round were picked, they would be able to skip the nation round (since they aren't in a nation) and go straight to the final round, which wouldn't be fair for the other towns who had to fight the nation round as well. If an independent town wishes to join, they could always fight in a nation round with a nation, but have no afiliation with them.

All people who wish to join will have to prove themselves worthy in the town round if they wish to compete in later rounds. Every time the two people win the town round, they will be ineligible to fight in the next Towny Games (2 weeks later), so other people can have chances. I want to be able to include everyone who wants to join.

Harry,

I'm sure you realize that 8 by 8 chunks for an arena is 64 chunks.  Each town having 3 arena's will make it almost 200 chunks not considering anything else in these towns.  Since you have to buy each chunk and they get progressively higher in cost, this could be extremely expensive.  Just sayin, I hope you've considered the cost of such a venture.

I do realize that the size is 64 chunks, and I know its expensive, so IF anyone needs the funding, I would be glad to help (no matter what nation they are in, whether the town be Cloudsdale, Imperium, Bushido/Shinto, Gotham, etc.). Also, when Foob said that chunk prices increase, he meant for the Chunky system in the Wilderness world only. Towny is a completely different system and therefore runs different price (staff member please correct me if I am incorrect on that). It's not the chunk prices that anyone should be worrying about. If anything, I would be concerned on the fact that in order to build just the outside of the arena (but hopefully not much will have to be changed to the land inside the arena) you will need a staggering 700 stacks (or 44,800 blocks) of glass to build the arena at 64 chunks and 23 blocks high (not including where walls meet another wall or the ceiling)... I now realize that we are most likely going to need some help with building and getting resources directly from the admins... this could really inflate our new economy... maybe the arenas need to be smaller or having only 1 arena? Because 3 arenas would be 2100 stacks of glass, or 134,400 blocks of glass... *head explodes*

EDIT: There is a possibility I messed up big time on the math, so don't panic guys!

If that is true, I've about had enough.

You realize, I hope, that we still have to build the arenas? And guys I looked at a desert and then checked how big a towny games arena is, and it looks like a small desert would have the amount of sand we'd need for a bit more than one arena, so we shouldn't have a problem with that since the size of Noobscraft would make deserts common (and of course the Mining world gets recreated every month, so infinite sand!) A problem we would have is getting coal... but that's why Mojang made charcoal in Minecraft! Who's ready for a big project once our towns are up and running? I wanted to have them up and ready by January 1st, but since Bukkit hasn't come out with a stable build, I'm beginning to doubt that my town will even be open to the public by January 1st. But I'll continue to hope for the best and work as hard as I can on the town and arenas without it interfering with real life and school.

the town will need charcoal when v6 starts up? i can do that. i have a survival world in 1.7. i have around a stack or so of charcoal and it took only around 30 seconds to get. (forest biome! xD)

Yeah... I'm talking near two full inventories of charcoal per arena. Who's ready for a project?

The charcoal/coal is for smelting the glass required to make the walls and ceiling of the arena

Why do we need 3 arenas? A better design would be a dome-shaped arena which would use less glass.

Domes are too mainstream. This is Minecraft, blocky FTW.

And 3 arenas so people can't learn every nook and cranny of the arena and to keep it interesting

Wait, what are nations, have they been made, and how many bricks in a chunk?
