Version 6.0 - Building Competition 1
« on: 1 May 2013, 22:45:30 »
Competition now closed, finalists will be announced shortly.

Side note: Now until the release of V6 we are also offering bonus points on all Paypal Donations above £10!

Today will mark the first of our building competitions, entering this competition will give you the opportunity to win instant Veteranship and Tokens for V6. The overall winning build will be placed inside the spawn of Version 6.0, forever leaving it's mark on the community.

Theme

The theme for the first build competition will be a Version 5.0 Memorial. As there will be a museum portal in the new spawn, we want to create a small area which can pay homage to the fantastic memories we have all shared in the current version. Design something that shouts Version 5.0 - Something the whole community can relate to.

As stated above this will be a fairly "Small" area so don't go too wild, once you have created the build post at least 3 images below of the finished build. When the competition ends the Admins will select the most creative builds to be put into our grand final. The overall winner will be voted by our community in a server wide poll!

Winner(s) of the build will be required to either send or give co-ordinates to the build, if building outside the server you must be aware of .schematic files as this will be the only format we accept outside the server.

Rules

- Build in an open space
- If building outside the server be prepared to create a .schematic file. (Unsure? Google it)
- Must fit the theme stated above
- Anything that is too large will not be valid

Reward

- Instant Veteranship
- Build in v6 including a plaque (sign) with your name on the build
- 5,000 Tokens

Due Date

The competition will end on Monday the 20th May 2013.

Good luck,

Same question. How small exactly is fairly "small?" Does a 1x4 chunk area count as small?

I'd say 48x48 at the very maximum anything under is fine.

A plot is 16, 48 is 3 plots. 3^2 or 9 plots total

@AdrianCavi
Or you could use MCEDIT to get the schematic file and post it online instead of building it twice?
Watch some youtube videos on MCEDIT-schematics if you have trouble.  There are other ways but I find MCEDIT the easiest.

@AdrianCavi
Makes sense, do as you please.  Something I have learned in my years of MC is never go with the first design.  Go back and edit it until it is absolutely perfect.  Get a basic design and go back and change the block types to see what looks good with what.

@Magiman27
I wouldn't recommend it because it would probably cause stress on the server.

Thankfully this goes on until the 20th so my buddies and I have time to think of a commemorative statue and win this competition. OK now to consult my best architect...

Height limit 15, plot size = 9 plots or 48x48... I would know what to build if it wasn't for the height limit :(

I think the height limit should be around 70 - 80 at most. and no underground structure. just a suggestion >.<

I present to you "Version 5 Ark", its this boat with cribs decorated by mods and admins, with maps of towns, all good memories of V5. Constructed by me (ProtocolAlpha) and my good friend ajinnes20.

A lateral view of the ship..

A peek of the inside, with the cabins of the mods (decorated by them!) (still need san to do his)

A view of the admin's cabins section (also decorated by then!) (still need itsLawrence, and Fatnoob to do theirs)

With the maps of the top 5 most populated towns! (still need the other 4 towns, so I am asking all TA's or Sub-Mayors or Mayors to do the same maps with your towns and donate it to me so it can be posted and remembered in Version 5 Ark!)

Here are the coordinates of the ark, if you just want go take a look or if you are a mod or admin that will like to do his cabin. (its in town Tortuga so a faster way is doing /t spawn tortuga and getting there)

I hope you people like it, give me more ideas and idk how this works, but if you can vote for me please do so. This is the "Version 5 Ark" were all memories will survive.....

--ProtocolAlpha--

(Ark is still not finished)

You only obtain the Veteranship if you win, otherwise everyone could enter just to get the Veteran.

So, I started on this before talk of size restrictions were mentioned. I guess I'll have to come up with something else to submit, but you guys can still take a look at what I made.
