Competition (RavenHelm Nation Citizens only)
« on: 30 Jan 2012, 01:33:54 »
Our nation is starting it's first project, but rather than just design it ourselves, we decided to use what he have: people! The objective is simple: design the best wheat farm, and win a prize!

The wheat farm must follow a few simple rules:

1) It has to be inexpensive(by Noobstown standards). "A farm made of diamonds?! Are you kidding me?"

2) It has to be stylish. We ain't takin no ugly thing, no matter how cheap!

3) It has to be user friendly. Easy to harvest, easy to replant. No mazes!

4) It must be able to grow at least 500 wheat. A farm for a single wheat is not funny.

And what does the winner receive for their trouble? Either...

10,000 Noobz!!!

or...

Super awesome title of your choice, and 4,000 Noobz!!!!(Talk to hchambers for more info)

A few recommended things that will boost your chances:

-Emphasis on vertical building. We use less space, more room for other stuff!
-If you make it 16*16, we'll be even happier!

-A wheat storage room. 1000 wheat, nowhere to store it. Not a good idea.

-Do not make it automated. Manual harvesting means double drops and exp.!
-Note: This isn't a requirement. Who knows, maybe we'll like it anyways!

And how do you submit your super-awesome design? You could...

-Make a YouTube video on how to make it and post it here.
-Build it in creative, and post the map for download.
-Give like 100 pictures (Not recommended, I will not reverse-engineer your farm)
-Build it in Noobstown, and show it to us!

Remember, nation residents only. Otherwise, the title prize is basically useless.

EDIT: Almost forgot, deadline is Tuesday!

This is the largest wheat farm i made. It took me 1 month and i made it in i think pre release 1.9.3, The farm is made up of 6 floors. Each floor is made up of 4 sections. Each section is made up of 100 fields. Each field is made up of 49 farmland blocks, each field has 49 wheat planted. So, the theoretical yield would be 117,600. I hope you enjoy!!! I submit my completely modular farm, which is built in the server, not far from the Forthwind Town Spawn. It is comprised of  X by 8 block fields, each sandwiched with a row of water for irrigation. It is simple, and the main thing:

Its best quality is its modularity and expandability. One can increase the number of tracks or just increase the length of existing ones. Furthermore, it can be built "up" in layers, almost infinitely. The only limit is the patience one has to farm it all.

Again, one has been built near the Forthwind Town Spawn, (follow the golden road to the residential section, youll know it when you see it). PLEASE REMEMBER, the one you see is just a prototype, and that design CAN BE EXPANDED CHEAPLY AND EFFICIENTLY TO INFINITY. I know, it is simple, but it is elegant and effective. To harvest, one just runs in a straight line while  holding down the mouse. Same with replanting. Alternatively, if you DO want to water harvest, one can just pour some water periodically. Or, it can be built in 7x8 "stairs", so that water will flow endlessly. However, this method requires more vertical space, and would be trickier to build/maintain.

It shouldn't be ugly, the materials used to cover the water dont even need to be there! Or, you could replace it with mossy stone brick, or glass, or whatever! Also, ideally this would be built on an open field of dirt, so that all one would need to do is dig water channels and plow the land. Therefore, if one track was 8x128, one track (of which there are 5, in the Forthwind Farm) would yield 16 stacks of wheat. Multiply this by however many tracks (lets say, 10) and you would get 160 stacks, not taking herbalism double drop into account. 160x64=wheats!
multiply this by 2 and you have your Nz per harvest.

Moving the deadline to Friday, on the account of too few entries.
I am also increasing the prizes to...

15,000 Nz

and 6,000 Nz and a super awesome title of your choice.

If you are a citizen of Forthwind, The Black Forest, or Flintwood, remember that you are a citizen of RavenHelm, too!

Entries are in, locking the topic. Hopefully, we'll have the winner chosen by Saturday!

Other than that, who do you think will win the competition? (Poll at top)
