...Hacking =/= DDos'ing...No offense, but even a ****** could DDos
Quote from: Nerzhal on 15 Jun 2011, 18:12:14...Hacking =/= DDos'ing...No offense, but even a ****** could DDosI would like to disagree with you, a DDoS is a distributed denial of service attack, meaning it is spread over many machines, normally by a botnet or something. If a ****** could run a botnet the world is screwed. You can however easily do a DoS attack.
..Google LOIC, every ****** can do it... I could take down the forum, if I wanted to... Though... I need more people (or a server farm / botnet w/e) for a login server.
LOIC is an open source network attack application, written in C#. A JavaScript version has also been created enabling a DoS from a web browser.
And on another note, (although I don't want you to try ) I don't know that you would be able to take this forum down on your own, it is on a HUGE server with DDos protection. But as I said please don't try incase you can .
...LOIC performs a denial-of-service (DoS) attack (or when used by multiple individuals, a DDoS attack)
...As you can see... It ain't that hard; 5-10 people or external connections are usually enough for a forum.I don't know if you "own" this forum, but this might have consequences for me, even if you say you would not "engage".
I don't want to ruin the theme of the topic, but your quote exactly emphasised my point, there is a difference between a DoS (which you or I could easily do) and a DDoS which is a lot harder. (Due to organisation and often other software to get other 'DoSers' on board).
...It's not hard, everyone can do it, even someone untrained.
even a ****** could DDos
