So, as many of us think that the published reason for neutralizing beacons in the wild is completely invalid, and complain on here to the probable and understandable annoyance of the admins, I'm going to continue the tradition.

Give us effectual wild beacons.

One idea that comes to mind, and which has probably been proposed before, is making the ability to place effective beacons in the wild a purchasable donation perk. For 5 or 10 pounds/dollars/whatever, the member can have effectual beacons in the wild.

I think this satisfies both positions. Those to whom effectual beacons are worth such a trivial sum can have them, the server gets supported a little more, and this will place an artificial bottleneck on the amount of people who actually have them, meaning that there will be a much smaller chance of (imagined and thus far unencountered) problems arising from effects leaking over onto someone else's chunks.

So, there. Feel free to voice your support/condemnation of this idea.

Hi,

We're looking into enabling effect beacons in the wild within the near future, not a donation perk.
