Wood for the Noobs!
« on: 11 Jul 2012, 06:45:19 »
Hey, I'm going to have an Event called "Wood for the Noobs!". Why? Because I remember my first day on Noobstown, and it was a nightmare, I remember building high dirt pillars to get the last remains of wood off of trees players were too lazy to get, (Didn't know about Mining World). So, I feel it would be a good idea to get together and plant some saplings! Anyone caught stealing saplings will be reported! I do not have a set date for this, so I will edit it in later, post below if your interested in helping! Thanks. -Krazzylegs

You can have all my saplins-my first day was yesterday and I couldnt find any trees. The only reason I survived is because I bought wood of someone and a player invited me to work for him and gave me great money to start off that I payed back later that day. So you should either. have a market shop next to spawn or/plant lots of trees

I think thats a great idea, players take wood and dont replant some of the sapling and it can leave the place destroyed, if i have any sapling u can have them!

I was thinking, should we let the wood grow by itself or use bonemeal?

I have tons and tons of bonemeal, about 20 stacks worth. I also like this idea, and I would be more then happy to help plant some saplings.

I'd be happy to donate some saplings. I remember my first couple days here, they were hard. I could find almost no wood and almost ran out of food. I picked up some saplings from the 2-3 trees I was able to find a few hundred blocks from spawn (probably 600-800) and replanted, and it was the only thing that gave me any wood after that. It would be nice to see more trees closer to spawn than that, it would really help the new people out.

ok kl i was thinking we could have a shared tree farm close to spawn and players need better signs when they start off otherwise they will not know where to go. We might also like to plant some seeds for food.

What if I already started replanting because I thought this was such a great idea I couldn't wait So I got most of the spawn area to the left planted and I did use bonemeal (I have a lot) on all of my trees. I will still participate with everyone else just tell me when we are going.  :D

Great idea, On my first few days I needed wood so bad that I ended up buying it for 10x its actual value... You can have some of my saplings!  O:) 8|

I know this is out of date, but this should be held regularly, like once a months or something. I may not have joined, but I see this as a great community practice and it would help out a lot of starting players. I have plenty of samplings to donate as well.

Ok, I may do this monthly, but we need ALOT more saplings, don't really care about bonemeal, just saplings, The trees we planted last time didn't last a week, The 7th of every month will be "Wood for the Noobs" day. Prepare yourselves!

Seriously?

Saplings come from leaves.
Saplings can be planted in dirt.

Wait 5 or so minutes.

Tree.
Trees make leaves.
Repeat

Do not insult my hard work, please. New players can't find saplings in the first place, if there were plenty of trees in the wilderness (which there isn't) this wouldn't be needed. I'm just an ordinary Noob trying to give back, ok? So please just respect that.

Trees make leaves.  (But there are no trees around the spawn, so the process stops there already)

I changed the order of your post a little so you might see the problem (put trees first, instead of leafes.).

I have a better idea, I will be starting a group called the "Mining World Maintainers". I need to talk to Joe a bit to see if he can add some signs to the spawn.
