I feel that this server should have an anti-xray mod. I know that it will/can cause lag, but the major problem is that people with X-rays can ruin the game. They can rule the server with having tons of money from selling diamonds and gold. They will also have all the good armor and tools. With an anti-xray we could potentially rid the server of most people who use hacks or modded clients with X-rays, for the X-ray is a very common mod and I feel it is overused, overpowered, and a cheap way of playing the game.

I know a great one called orebfuscator. This plugin can cause some reaction with other plugin (negative) but it really is great on preventing X-Ray mods. What it does is it shows diamond, moss stone, and gold everywhere on every layer if someone turns there X-ray mod on. I have it on my private server, my friends beg me to take it off but i don't listen >

The mcmmo was fixed a long time ago, 2 weeks ago or something. Just to let you know. The only thing not fixed is abilities as thy have to many bugs.

not to rain on parades, but theres texture packs that are substitutes for X-Ray mods, and with Optifine's Texture Pack switcher ability, it wouldnt be too hard to swap out a texture pack to report someone, then go right back to using it.

It is not always so easy to check for x-ray mods.

Also by the way achmed, im talking about leveling of mining mcmmo skill by using xrays

Even with using X-ray, your mining level will not rise quickly, so I wouldn't worry about that too much.

As for checking for X-rayers, I personally investigate people that get rich in small amounts of time for that sort of thing. No, it's not foolproof, but it's better than nothing. And it doesn't create lag XD

That's certainly true. And as you've said Myrf there's a pretty distinct pattern they do when digging with x-ray, you're pretty good at picking that up too.

Not much else we can do I think besides check out those that have money quickly, or they accidentally admit it. Would be really cool if mods could do a quick search of a player if they needed to.

Maybe moderators can /tp to people in mining world just to check if they are x-raying or not. Also with suspicious people in chat that always say "Diamonds for sale".

Yes, but also with an anti-xray mod, it would allow moderators to spend less time worrying about x-rays and Im pretty sure that alot of people who use x-ray mods not advertise it. I still feel that an anti-xray mod would be very beneficial to the server.

Trust meon this oneI have seen many people get bannedbecause of X-Ray and they were advertising Diamonds for sale.

I would like to reopen this discussion. I know that this got shot down last time, but I feel that this is something that would benefit the server greatly, that is why I am suggesting it. Orebfuscator, which is an Anti-Xray plugin, works very well and has hardly any effect on the efficiency of the server. With the amount of people using X-ray mods, and hacked clients, I think this could be a great way to protect the server. If everyone is so worried about the lag this plugin could create, we could at least give it a try, and if it makes a large increase in lag, then the plugin can be removed.

I made a topic about a Anti X-ray mod a good while back myself and I suggested something similar to this "Orebfuscator" but the one I suggested replace every block once you turn X-ray on to a random block, by random I mean it can choice any block it wants from the creative inventory and replace stone and ores to as an example leaves and pumpkins, if I find it ill put a link under for the plugin.

The plugin I talked about is outdated and only for 1.2.5 and down, I guess the plugin developer stopped developing it a while back but anyways, I found the orebfuscator plugin so ill add a link to that instead.

I think I've seen this plugin used on another server before. And It worked, without use of an external client. however this was around the time of 1.1, so I'm not sure if it still works like this.

I agree. beside OreBfuscator is fixed! Now People (like Me) Wont be banned for Xray!
