Fire Spread on your own chunks??
« on: 18 May 2016, 11:19:55 »
Hi Noobstown!

Okay straight into it alot of us know what it is like to by forest land in minecraft and be left with nothing but an enchanted axe for hours to tidy it all up so we can build a pretty little house right?

I don't mean to sound lazy but it really is a real tiring process and I was wondering is there any way it can be designed into the chunky system that fire spread will only work on the chunks that our owned by the land the source of a fire was sparked on.

So in basic form is there any way to make firespread that you can enable and disable and it won't attack anyone elses land :)

Thanks guys yous are doing a cracker of a job with all the updates!

We currently have the normal Minecraft fire ticks to be off completely, which means that fire doesn't spread or go out anywhere in any of the worlds. If we were to introduce your idea it would cause people who have got perpetual fire to lose the ability to light something and for it to stay lit forever.

While I do understand your idea and reasoning behind it, I'm reluctant to change this because many people like the fact that fire lasts forever wherever you light it; we can't have both otherwise fires would never stop they'd just burn down everything on your land :P.

I am open to feedback and comments though, if enough people like your idea and agree that it would be better than the infinite fire then it is definitely something we could do.

If you want to remove trees quickly for now use mcMMO's treefeller?

I would like firespread to be optional on chunks too. Mainly because it makes removing water much easier.

For example, when making a giant underwater dome or building, the best way to empty the inside is either with a bunch of sponges, which are disabled, or filling the inside with wood and then burning it all out.

Using wood really doesn't seem like an efficient way to remove water :P even if we allowed burning. Sponges will be coming as part of the updates this Summer along with lots of other things, so you'll be able to use them for that if you want to. For now though if you use sand and then place slabs or torches at the bottom as you dig it out you can easily dig out massive areas quite quickly :P.

I do appreciate you putting forward you like the idea of allowing it though, if anyone else has any comments too please put them forward.

I don't use fire at all currently, so I vote neutral side.
