Well the idea has been stuck in my head for a while, but it was when EpicEnderMiner let me read his published book called Survival Games, that was when the idea sprouted :).

The idea I had was to have some sort of book store at spawn that allows members to write and publish books by themselves, I've always loved the idea of being able to publish a book, I'd even give it a go :P. If this was to be put in to place then I think there should be certain members (Veterans? Who knows), most likely mods and admins review books and if they're up to standards like, readable, exciting, good plot etc, they should be publish and sold? for like 50nbz at a time. It would add a little more involvement within the server and it would be really cool to see the outcome!

I just hope I'm not the only player who sees this as very exciting lol..

i love the idea i was thinking about it myself (maybe turning my house into one or something) but it would be epic to make a big official building for books

I think it's a great idea, I'd love to have some of my books there where everyone can get them. :D

If allowed, I could be a publisher of books.  I think that this would overwhelm the mods as they deal with more important things, but I would love to do it!

As well, I would like to write some survival guides myself, and am making an Oakvale Manual for new town members in the future.

This is a fantastic idea that holds many possibilities when it comes to improving the over all quality of the server.  Stores, Libraries, ect...  Eventually, I hope they will make bookshelves like containers to hold books that have been written and what not.  Should you need help with publications, or materials in creating this project, please be sure to /msg me in game or send me a PM here through the forums.

EDIT:  One thing though, how would / could we monitor the written books to make sure the content is appropriate and suitable?  Would you want to mass produce books to sell so players can keep?  Or set up a buy / sell system that has the same prices so the book is 'rented' and then returned for the same amount it was purchased for?  A few things that came to mind.

I'm not sure how it would work exactly, but I brought this up as a server idea so it makes more possibilities possible :P. The idea with the bookshelves you mentioned would be great, It's surprising that they haven't already implemented it.

To make sure books were appropriate there should be a few players from different timezones, or most likely admins/mods that read each book before it is handed in to the book store to be published, I'd suggest someone like yourself to be in a role like that because you seem to be a player that would take the job seriously and be fair!

Now we just need an admins indication to whether this idea will ever be brought to Noobstown ;)

Most definitely, the mod's and admins Have a lot to to take care of, they would have no time for thing's like that, I would hire someone that is good with grammer and who knows a good story when they see one. EpicEnderMiner looks as if he would be good at the job  :D

I agree, with all, but keeping in mind this server is a family server, not all people will be good at grammar. I'd say it would only need to be able to keep the readers attention and eager to read on.

Great idea. I think a little more detail will be helpful. This is how i see it:

Lets say i publish a book. Its got horrible grammar but a great storyline and plot. Its about 3 pages long-
I bring it to the "book store" and submit it into maybe a chest of some sort that would keep the chest safe without anyone stealing books-The book is then taken and read by a hired employee who gets paid 500nbz if they read 6 books(every 6 books they get paid) and submit them into the "pass" chest or the "didn't pass" chest- The same person then transports the book to a "shelf" in the library(maybe create a plugin) and then puts the price above it(like the chest shop sign thingy). I would say 1000 nbz each book- Now to the consumer. The consumer will read a book and if they like it they can right click the sign and get it. The problem is how will we prevent the consumer from taking the book? I know how. In front of each book the "librarian" will place another book on a shelf but that is open to the person to read and it will be a summary(what you see on the back of a book).

Thats just how i see it working out. I don't know how they would work it any other way without it getting abused and out of hand. Maybe a really really easy way for you to do it is just buy a shop for 10k at the spawn and just go from there. Thanks for reading!

Ty, and I actually am setting up my own library as well. I hope they make a noobscraft library, and if they do, I would definetly volunteer to be a worker there. :D

Oh man...Jayjay...This is an absolutely brilliant idea, and I think everyone here's got some great ideas for making it work, as well....

I think Achmed's idea of starting with a spawn shop is pretty good...Though a big central library with things sorted by genre etc would be cool...

I really like this idea, and I'm anxious to see it happen. I'd certainly give writing something a try. :) Not much more to add, I just wanted to voice my support of this great idea!

Hey,

we did introduce a bookshop plugin but its not quite polished enough for global use, once everything is smoothed out people will be able to sell their books to players, the books will copy to the buyer.
