Since it seems that the various aspects of MCMMO can be edited for certain groups, and that the VIP perks lists Flux Mining as one of its perks, I was wondering if it would be at all possible to remove Flux Mining completely.

The main reason for this is that it seems to not serve enough of a function to put up with the annoyance that comes with it. While on one hand it's nice to just be able to auto-smelt an ore that seems to be the only function it serves. It doesn't seem to give you vanilla xp, and I'm not sure if it gives you mcmmo xp although certainly it should do that.

What most people do when it comes to gold/iron ores is to just use a Silk Touch pick so they don't have to deal with Flux Mining. But it seems rather silly for people to have to go out of their way to avoid something, why not simply not have it there to begin with? Then we wouldn't have to go around things and all the little irritations that come with forgetting to use an ST pick on the ores and it auto-smelts them.

Hopefully if I'm wrong and there's some actual good perks to Flux Mining someone can point it out, otherwise for now it just doesn't seem useful enough to want to keep.

Or make no flux mining a VIP perk.

Since I didn't go back to mining for a long time I can't confirm this, but I had the same impression (and had a discussion in general chat about it).

It didn't seem to give any XP (character level or smelting/repair) for the smelted ingot.
Even if it gave XP of any sort, I still can't see any advantage since you'll eventually need to manually smelt ores anyway.

All it does is potentially waste an inventory slot and probably deny your double smelting chance (unconfirmed).

Simply put it has no real reason to be a thing, same with Blast Mining on this server.

Veterans also have flux mining.
