Western Ltd goes public!
« on: 31 Jan 2016, 01:32:55 »
The Western Ltd, which manages Western Investment and Western Construction, has made a lot of profit in January. We have increased our companies net worth by 13% this quarter and would like to pass on our earnings to all those in noobstown! As our company continues to grow, we explore new ways for people to invest their money. In this post we will be discussing the changes to our company.

First, we will no longer be investing your money or diamonds for you. Rather we will be offering investing advice to those who seek it. We will tell you different methods to invest your money and how to invest your money in the most profitable way. We give advice on what to invest in and what not to invest in, and are here to answer any of your general questions about investing.

The second change we are making to our company is we are going public! Going public essentially means that you can now by stock/shares of our company and as our company grows the stocks become more valuable. How our stock system will work is, you buy shares from our company, and the shares will be gifted to you. A share will be a signed book, with my username so I know its legitimate, that you can hold onto until we buy back shares. Our company will buy back shares at the end of the month for more than you paid, depending on how well our company did that month. At my /visit there is a sign that says the current price you can buy stock from us, and at the end of the month, we will post another sign giving the price that we will buy stock back for. The good thing about this system is that if you want to trade the stock to others and no longer hold stock you can. Also if you do not wish to sell your stock back at the end of the month, you can hold onto the stock for longer in anticipation that the stock price will rise even more.

Currently our stock trades at 1,000 nbs each, so this is most likely the lowest the stock will be worth ever! We only have 99 units of stock for trade right now, so get them while they're here! If you're interested in buying or selling back shares, please send me mail or message me in game if I am online.

If I buy six shares does that mean I own the company :)
Technically yes.  Unless you also hold shares. Do you?

Also, are you going to buy back shares or pay dividends at the end of the month?  What if we want to hold onto our shares?

I'm interesting in purchasing a few shares when I'm able to get back in game if there are any left. I'd love to invest with you.

Yes technically you would own part of the company, but just as in real life you will have only a small vote/say in how the company is run and by who, since there will be other share holders as well. Six shares of stock will mean you only own 3% of the company, where you would need to own 101 shares to be the majority share holder. Our company has a total of 200 shares, but 101 of which are not being traded so that we remain the majority share holder. Also we always offer a buy back price for the shares at the end of the month rather than pay dividends, as dividends would be hard to manage with the possibility of trading the shares without the company's knowledge. And regarding holding onto your shares, this is perfectly fine, and as mention previously, that just means the share will be worth more during the next buy back period. Just keep in mind, we do buy back stocks throughout the whole month, but the price will not increase until after our company has completed the next full month of trading, investing, etc.

you can do a easy way to pay dividends. lets say i own 1 share so every month i get 10% of the share price.

Yes calculating dividends would be easy, but keeping track of who I need to pay out dividends to every month with 99 separate shares circulating in the economy would be hard to track. Especially with people being able to trade shares without my knowledge would make it hard to keep track of all the dividends that need to be paid out. I suppose I can create a spreadsheet and have each stock have an individual id number, then have people set up appointments to collect their dividends. I will get a system together to figure out how to pay dividends since that seems like a better system.

That is why you should be keeping all the info yourself and give people like some block what is named you have a share (their name). When people want to sell their shares you put it back into the share market and when that share is sold you give them the money of the price it was sold at.

I have created a system that gives each share a unique ID number, that I can then check if it has been paid out yet.  Our company will be paying out 30% of our company's earnings at the end of each month. If the person is a shareholder and they would like their dividend, they will set up an appointment to collect their noobs.
