I hate Disneyland-and Lucasfilm
« on: 6 Nov 2012, 21:44:19 »
I ____ing hate Disney. They bought Star Wars/Lucasfilm for 4.1 billion moneys! Star Wars is my favorite movie. Now they are making a 7th, 8th, and 9th one. That is against what George Lucas said.  :(
And they are making a ____ing Star Wars Angry Birds!

You are blaming Disney...Lucas shouldn't of sold out! Disney has made some good and bad movies, but lets not read a book by its cover and sees how it turns out!

Aqw they are going to use all of the old people from the first Star Wars movies, I think I can judge this book by its cover.
Plus Star Wars Angry Birds are going to be a "skinned" version of plain Angry Birds

Actually Lucas had already written some scripts for Star Wars 7-12. Now that he sold it Disney wants to get the 4billion out of the Lucas studio that its worth. Like AQ said, "Disney makes good and bad". I was mad when they bought Marvel but can't complain about "The Avengers". I liked it. Just gotta wait and see what happens next summer when Episode 7 comes out.

Well, the 4 billion's a good thing; Lucas is donating most of it to education. 4 billion can go a long long way for helping our next generation. :) Good on ya, George, for that.
(Fun fact: Disney also bought Marvel alone (just the one company) for 4 billion, so it's not really crazy far out there. Especially for a movie-making franchise. The Lucas buyout wasn't one company. It was several, in one fell swoop, buying up multi-billion dollar generating companies. I was almost expecting more, to be honest.)

What's that? "Please regale us with your really long-winded opinion on the buyout in essay-ish format, Azurega!" you say? No? That's...that's not what you said at all? Oh. Well, here it is anyway! O_O

I'm not a huge Disney fan. They release some bad things. But, as AQW said, they do a lot of good things, too. It's easy to forget, but people thought Marvel movies would be absolutely awful when Disney bought them out, too.

And finally, people need to remember that the Star Wars prequels were generally very bad. So not a whole lot to mess up that hasn't already been messed up. The force is no longer the force, it's a weird bacterial anomaly like they have diabetes superpowers or something. I mean absolutely no offense if you liked them; I'm glad if you did, but in general, they were considered a flop by Star Wars' core fandom and old fans of the originals already bemoan the franchise being ruined. :\

In the end, George was facing so much criticism of inability to make movie magic anymore, that he felt he had something to prove (which is dangerous), so he wasn't quite taking help and advice the way he should. Star Wars has become too big for just one man to handle.

At one point, he said no more movies after 6, but it changed, and you haveta remember that originally, there weren't even supposed to be prequels. It started at ep 4 as a wink and a nod to Flash Gordon that he wanted to continue with a 4th movie but couldn't. So 6 episodes was never the sacred goal, regardless.

I feel there's no way Disney could make it worse, at least. What can they do? Release horrible prequels/sequels with doofy cartoonish characters aimed at kids with names like, oh, iunno, Jar Jar, with weird speech impediments as comic relief? Change and 'fix' the beloved originals and refuse to re-release the original cuts? Overmarket the movies with too many toys and products (If you weren't around for the 80s and 90s, they did. And I loved it. :\)

And if you'd seen the horrors of the star wars christmas special that were unleashed unto this world and some of the many other strange merchandising crossovers, Angry Birds Star Wars wouldn't phase you in the least. lol BEHOLD! The glories of corny (pun intended) Star Wars food marketing!

(Nutritionally delicious droid action at its finest! Totally not the worst of it.)

Disney isn't a person (anymore); they hire many other leading people to work on things, like with Avengers. So it comes down to who handles star wars from here, and if they pay it the proper respect it deserves with humility.

New movies may be awful. They may be great. But the backlash was bad when they bought Marvel, too. So I'll wait and see with optimism! :D (I'd love something with Mara Jade/Heir to the Empire!)

...Or another Holiday special. >_>

Just sayin. Someone's gotta defend the overthrow until we see how it pans out! :P

I, for one, have a new hope to one day work on a Star Wars movie. So I'm optimistic about this revival! :)

I have to agree with Azurega.

JarJarbinks, AngryBirds-StarWars. The 3 newest episodes feeling like a horrible teenagermovie. Milking the franchise with cereals and childrentoys (massmurdering DarthVader blows up a whole planet just to make a point and they sell him as childrens toy? It once wasn't a childrensstory, but the new films and stuff just don't feel right anymore).

There is now way Disney could do any more harm to StarWars then already has been done by Lucasfilm. Even a MickeySkywalker and a HanGoofy rescuing Princess Minnie form the evil DarthDonald couldn't be worse than JarJarbinks.

Which, incidentally, I would totally go see just to gawk at in horror and shock...and lol a little. :) Darth Donald. hee hee. You can't tell what he's saying when he's angry. Hilarious.

Lol I hate Disneyland (paris) too only not the movie cause i never saw it.
We did go to Disneyland paris with school once we all thought we had to go to the first park you know with the castle, but that was so childy and the entrance was really really expensive. So we walked out of that park and tried to go to the second one, but we had to pay again! The same bloody expensive price, it was such a rip off and the food... just omg I dont even wanna start about it. So F you Disney! xd you rip offs :P
