Second earth?
« on: 8 Dec 2011, 18:22:17 »
Today in school I over heard that scientists have discovered another planet that has the same climate as us and would be livable if we ever reached it.... it would take about 2 billion years to reach or something though...

If anyone else is interested in researching it then feel free ;), I love stuff like this.

A very interesting discovery indeed, although it has the same climate as Earth and an orbiting sun the Planet seems to just be a sphere of Water. The planet however could still sustain life, but most likely sea life.

Maybe its just a future representation of what Earth could be like in the future? One big ball of water!

Well we could shorten the trip.
Assuming I did my math right, if we all travel at .99999999999742% the speed of light, we'll get there in only 5 years! much better than 2200000 years.

True! :P...if Joes right then we would be screwed...., it's most likely that if it was made up of water with sea life... some of it would love to eat us :(

Star: Kepler-22, yellow dwarf spectrum G type, radius of 97% Sun's radius, and mass of 98% Sun's mass. Temperature of roughly 5514 K Magnitute of 11,664. Star is located in Cygnus Consteallation.

Distance: 590 Light Years

Planet: Kepler-22b

Diameter: 2.9 times larger than Earth

Orbit: 290 days

Estimated day temperature: 22 Degrees

Just a little sum-up of the facts about the system.

PS. Instead of trying to get to the stars, at the moment we should get around our Solar System.
