Well..
« on: 9 Feb 2012, 17:08:58 »
I'd just like to clear a few things up:

1. I'm sick of some people (I'd rather not name names on here, but I will be telling Admins and Moderators perhaps.) giving me grief for telling someone to take their 'caps off' I don't do it to look like a Moderator, all I'm doing is helping the server stay clear of rule breakers, not only am I helping the server - but I am helping the offender not to get into trouble. Most (emphasis on Most :P) Admins and Moderators believe that it is fine for me to take people to take their 'caps off' as it is helping keep the server clean.

2. Not only am I sick of people giving me grief, but I am also sick of people treating me like dirt and thinking they can talk to me in anyway they want (the people that this is about will most likely catch on that this is about them -.-). When you break a rule you have to face a warning, most likely from a Moderator, when I report someone to a Moderator don't continue to break rules and blame everything on me, or else you'll just get into more trouble...

Basically from reading this you should learn that there is nothing wrong with telling people to take their 'caps off' even if someone tells you not to do it. Also that if you are not being treated with respect by a peer in the Noobstown community, please don't be afraid to report it. :)

I'd just like to 'clear up a few things' too.

1. You always whine about not being a mod yet you never help newcomers when they join the server all you do is spam ' Caps off' so much that it's only you disrupting the global chat.  If people are using caps, let the members that are being annoyed or yourself report them to an admin, instead of saying 'caps off' all the time.  The moderators will deal with them appropriately, don't take our law into your own hands.

2. Treat people the way you'd like to be treated, you may think your reports are clever because you've only taken time to screenshot the things that have been said to YOU.  Although I know your no angel as I've had many complaints about the way you act to our regular members.

Basically from reading this you should learn that there is a lot wrong with spamming 'caps off' Especially when we tell you not to do it.  Our rules were made by Joe, and this post tells me you are telling our members to break our rules and thus are disrespecting Joe's judgement.  I suggest you delete this topic or take it up personally with Fatnoob via PM.

Yeah I thought I was doing the same by telling a few people no caps, but INEED explained it to me in a way that made sense. And trying to be a vigilante law enforcer, makes you just as bad as the people breaking the rules.

Sure your intentions may be good from telling people no caps, but your methods are all wrong. if you really wanna help the mods out, report something more problematic than people typing in caps. I have started to ignore the chat unless someone is talking to me... for that reason.

Your intentions are in the right place -- but you're going all about it in the worst way possible.
Remember, You'll catch more bees with honey than vinegar.

Everybody is here to have a good time -- Yes, we must abide by the rules set forth by those who run the servers. And these are terms we've all agreed to when we signed up. But when I log in to play the last thing I want to see is incessant bickering in my towns chat. It ruins the experience for me and other players.

You are not a mod -- you do not have the power to enforce the rules, I'm glad you want to help but this isn't the way to do it. Constantly nagging players who don't do as you say and threatening them with reporting them until they do as you demand is bullying, borderline harassment.

Kindly remind those who break the rules, by letting them know -- be diplomatic, they don't listen? Alert the mods, and go on with your own business. This keeps the peace.

I believe it is really unfair saying that I 'whine' about not being a Mod, basically, because I don't. I always help newcomers which is also unfair to say, you're just so inactive that you never see me do it... Also I do not 'spam' people saying 'caps off' as I'm sure the definition of spam is repeatedly sending the same message in small periods of time, I however do not do this.
Plus, I treat people with the utmost respect, but if someone treats me like ****, why should I treat them well? I tell them formally that they should stop being rude to me, I then get a bit agitated and report it to a Moderator a short while after this they start sending me hate messages AGAIN, like seriously who in the right mind would do that?

In your summary I'd like to point out when you said 'and this post tells me you are telling our members to break our rules' this is what made me disgusted in your response, in what single way am I telling members to break the rules, in fact I'm doing the exact opposite and telling people NOT to break rules.

I understand where you are coming from, I'm just trying to be a valuable asset to the staff when they are busy doing more serious business within the server and/or forums. The problem with me reporting people is that most of the time I end up having to report well respected players within the Noobstown community, I do not want to lose however big or small respect I have in the community as it would be an awful thing to lose. In addition I love the idea of leaving most chat channels apart from local as it would cause less arguments and less grief for me. :) Thanks for informing me on your opinion.

I'm guessing you're on my side, I hope you are or else me typing this would be pointless (:P) I agree with you that the caps are much more disruptive as they ruin peoples chances to speak to others within global chat.

I personally don't think I'm going about it in the 'worst way possible', if I were I'd most likely be reporting every single person that uses caps, but instead I warn them kindly and calmly. I agree that everyone is here to have a good time, but when people are breaking the rules it annoys me so much that I feel like I have to do something about it as I said earlier, most Moderators are busy dealing with more serious matters, to be really honest I don't care if you don't think I have to do something, because I feel like I do. 'Constantly nagging players' is a very false statement as I do not nag players to take their caps off, I say it once then leave them to get into trouble for their actions if they repeat it. 'you do not have the power to enforce the rules,' is also a false statement as everyone has the power to enforce the rules, it's just the Admins and Moderators that have judgement over punishments and consequences for peoples actions. 'threatening them with reporting them until they do as you demand is bullying, borderline harassment.' I am appalled that you are saying that I am a bully, I am anything but a bully as I tell people nicely to take their caps off, as you said I should in your conclusion, which is exactly what I do anyway? Then I do alert a Moderator (if one is online) about the rule breaking within the server.

I'm not talking about the CAPS issue. Im speaking on what I saw today.
Before all this nonsense that had transpired, I've never spoken nor have I ever run into you.

You were taking issue with something that had happened the other day with another member in the town chat. That is what I am talking about, you felt he did something wrong, fine leave it up to the mods to deal with it. Threatening him with going to the mods over and over again, what do you call that?

I was minding my own before I got annoyed with all the pettiness.

With that said -- I'm done with this. I've said my bit, you can go on to do as you please.

sometimes all caps is used to show large emphasis... and other times when it's not all caps it's ok... like when i was talking about 1.2 in a nutshell... that part with the all caps... that was when it was needed :P

I'd like to point out I already raised the issue up the day before to a Moderator but they done nothing about it. :/
