lol nice, guys.

Yeah, I do the same.

A while back, one of the pipes in my office burst and flooded the room. My first instinct was to try and throw blocks of dirt down to stop the water flow....Before I realized I have no dirt blocks. >:\

I just hope I never get up somewhere high and start thinking that I've got my acrobatic skills high enough to handle the fall. :P ...Or come across a pig whilst I have a saddle in my hand. -_- lol

Even a MickeySkywalker and a HanGoofy rescuing Princess Minnie form the evil DarthDonald couldn't be worse than JarJarbinks.

Which, incidentally, I would totally go see just to gawk at in horror and shock...and lol a little. :) Darth Donald. hee hee. You can't tell what he's saying when he's angry. Hilarious.

Just sayin. Someone's gotta defend the overthrow until we see how it pans out! :P

I, for one, have a new hope to one day work on a Star Wars movie. So I'm optimistic about this revival! :)

Also excellent, Miner. The depth of emotion you managed to show in its eyes really reaches out to me as a viewer. And it's remarkable the way you were able to convey a life of wealth and money through your choice of media. And yet the wealth represents a greater tragedy as it seems to scream out in agony at the gaping hole in its life left by that void that money simply can. not. fill.

Truly touching on a deep, meaningful level.

...Or it could be I'm reading into it all wrong and it's just a happy dollar sign seahorse. ._.

Well, the 4 billion's a good thing; Lucas is donating most of it to education. 4 billion can go a long long way for helping our next generation. :) Good on ya, George, for that.
(Fun fact: Disney also bought Marvel alone (just the one company) for 4 billion, so it's not really crazy far out there. Especially for a movie-making franchise. The Lucas buyout wasn't one company. It was several, in one fell swoop, buying up multi-billion dollar generating companies. I was almost expecting more, to be honest.)

What's that? "Please regale us with your really long-winded opinion on the buyout in essay-ish format, Azurega!" you say? No? That's...that's not what you said at all? Oh. Well, here it is anyway! O_O

I'm not a huge Disney fan. They release some bad things. But, as AQW said, they do a lot of good things, too. It's easy to forget, but people thought Marvel movies would be absolutely awful when Disney bought them out, too.

And finally, people need to remember that the Star Wars prequels were generally very bad. So not a whole lot to mess up that hasn't already been messed up. The force is no longer the force, it's a weird bacterial anomaly like they have diabetes superpowers or something. I mean absolutely no offense if you liked them; I'm glad if you did, but in general, they were considered a flop by Star Wars' core fandom and old fans of the originals already bemoan the franchise being ruined. :\

In the end, George was facing so much criticism of inability to make movie magic anymore, that he felt he had something to prove (which is dangerous), so he wasn't quite taking help and advice the way he should. Star Wars has become too big for just one man to handle.

At one point, he said no more movies after 6, but it changed, and you haveta remember that originally, there weren't even supposed to be prequels. It started at ep 4 as a wink and a nod to Flash Gordon that he wanted to continue with a 4th movie but couldn't. So 6 episodes was never the sacred goal, regardless.

I feel there's no way Disney could make it worse, at least. What can they do? Release horrible prequels/sequels with doofy cartoonish characters aimed at kids with names like, oh, iunno, Jar Jar, with weird speech impediments as comic relief? Change and 'fix' the beloved originals and refuse to re-release the original cuts? Overmarket the movies with too many toys and products (If you weren't around for the 80s and 90s, they did. And I loved it. :\)

And if you'd seen the horrors of the star wars christmas special that were unleashed unto this world and some of the many other strange merchandising crossovers, Angry Birds Star Wars wouldn't phase you in the least. lol BEHOLD! The glories of corny (pun intended) Star Wars food marketing!

(Nutritionally delicious droid action at its finest! Totally not the worst of it.)

Disney isn't a person (anymore); they hire many other leading people to work on things, like with Avengers. So it comes down to who handles star wars from here, and if they pay it the proper respect it deserves with humility.

New movies may be awful. They may be great. But the backlash was bad when they bought Marvel, too. So I'll wait and see with optimism! :D (I'd love something with Mara Jade/Heir to the Empire!)

...Or another Holiday special. >_>

Your profile says your 15? Is that right?

Regardless, these are a pretty darn good start! :D I probably didn't get actually seriously serious until maybe a bit later than I probably should have, so hopefully you keep it up! It's a really exciting (but admittedly tricky) field to go into, but the reward is amazing. :)

Start getting in the habit of paying close attention to how things look, work, and interact with eachother everywhere you go, and use things in real life as reference to what you're doing. I got in the bad habit of not using enough references, and it still causes me problems to this day. xD

Hope you post up some more stuff! :) Keep it up!

....Only, I hope you don't post more evil clowns. >_> *shudders* xD

hehe sounds like some misunderstandings. :P Sorry, guys. :)

Thanks, ummfred. I guess we're going to have to try to close it out for a bit and see what happens, maybe. I'll go check the perms and whatnot, too.

And to clarify, they are one block width thick (the trees) with a couple blocks between. We may be shifting jungle trees elsewhere soon for better efficiency on those. :)

Just wanted to be sure our resident was safe and spoken for if something was gonna happen. We'll test a few things in the meantime.

Thanks again, ummfred. :)

Support / Nova Tree Farm Dilemma?
« on: 2 Nov 2012, 22:56:03 »
Hey guys,

I'm a submayor at Nova, and it seems that there's a problem between one of our citizens and the mods that's causing some confusion. This isn't a ban appeal yet, obviously, but I'm hoping to get some clarification and maybe a solution before it gets to that point.

This citizen, Redfocus, has come to me telling me that he's been told he's at potential risk for banning again due to not replanting in our tree farm that he built for us. However, after talking with him a few times, I am convinced that he is not responsible for this, and he maintains he didn't grief the last time this happened, either.

Obviously, I can't know because I can't be online at all times, but after talking with him, I believe he's not responsible. He was the one to build the tree farm, plant all the trees from his own pocket, and post signs requesting that others replant. Those trees were his that he planted for us...

When he was banned for not replanting, he said he went and paid over 500nbz or so to replace all the saplings, and now it's happening again. He spends a lot of time maintaining that farm, from what I can tell, so, while I might be wrong, it seems odd that he'd tear down one specific section and leave it unplanted. He says he's not been using that area of the farm at all recently...

I promised him as TA for the town, I'd ask around and try to seek out help and advice on the forum. If what he tells me is true, I want to make sure he doesn't get wrongly punished. :)

--
The trees in question are Jungle Trees. He's planted them in single block spaces, which I was under the impression you couldn't do (I thought a 2x2 plot was required?). So, I'm wondering if they could possibly be 'dying' or despawning because of this, and the mods are detecting his interaction in planting them as him cutting them down?

Not sure. Is there anything abnormal that could be causing the detection of Redfocus not replanting? I'd love to come up with a solution here without banning this Nova member, who's generally been very helpful and rule-abiding.

Any advice or thoughts from any mods etc? Is there something that I'm missing, or is the evidence against this member simply too convincing? I'm considering just closing up this one small area if I need to, but if it's just a problem with the jungle trees glitching or acting strangely, that'd be nice and easy to fix.

And if I seem to be missing something or don't have the facts right, let me know! :) I'm only speaking on what I know of the situation so far, and want to make sure if he's banned, it's because he certainly did it, and not due to a glitch or something. Any advice on what I can do would be welcome.

Thank you, guys! You're all doing an amazing job, and hopefully we can find a good solution here, too! :)

Hi, Jaeger! Hope you don't mind if I kinda expand on this a bit, as it's something I'd love to see, as well!

Actually, I've been gathering my thoughts and information to create my own request, as echoed by many of the residents of my town. I showed this idea to my TAs in reference to things I'd love to do in our town, and they absolutely loved the idea, as well.

There actually currently IS a bukkit plugin for this kind of thing, called paidswitch. It sets up a sign (like with chests) to place next to switches and buttons. ( http://dev.bukkit.org/server-mods/paidswitch/ )

I'd like to very, very strongly add my voice to this request for mods and admins to see, as it could open up a whole world of new interactions on this wonderful server. Some things of great benefit for my town are: charging admission to a town event or charging to let someone into a special area of town; Dispenser vending machines; having a game where people can choose a certain thing and be charged; operating any variety of town-related things or rides; calling up minecarts; charging to select a destination in a subway system; easy bank donation system...

I could probably go on for a while on the benefits and possibilities this would open up. This would be an amazing addition.

I also thought of reasons why they may choose not to, so it can be open for fair discussion. The best I can think of is that someone could, conceivably, try to make the sign difficult to spot and surprise charge the careless. However, this is difficult to do, as the block in front of it remains empty, you'd have to know what to charge to ensure they have it, and also this seems to fall under the category of griefing and general rulebreaking, as likely as setting up a trap in any number of ways upon walking into a room or TPing, or digging deep hidden pits for people to stumble into. Or even paying someone a lot for something they said they'd give you and having them run off with the money.... It'd be just as controlled, it seems, and with this mod, it'd go without saying that all signs used for switches must be obvious, and remain unblocked. That, and anyone who's been on for a bit would likely learn to check carefully before activating any suspicious switches...

And the benefits would *far* outweigh any possible tricky schemes by rule breakers. The number of possibilities opened here with this are just amazing, and I hope that it's seriously considered for all it could do for us town builders!

Just for my own curiosity, Wingless, I was wondering, what time zone are you in, and around what time(s) are you most commonly online? Nothing to be penalized for in your application, of course, I'm just curious. I've seen you online, but our time schedules seem to be different. :)

Amanduh, great work! :D Loving the minecraft toons. And it's good to see other artists on here. I'll probably share some of my stuff soon, then...More likely, make a minecraft fanart just for this, now. haha...

And that first 3 part comic of your first day...aha...yeaaah. that was me, too. Was all like "woo! cut down ALL the trees!"  After walking and walking without a tree to be found, the sun was going down, so I panicked and just started punching a hill until I had a hole to hide in. Aaaand did not come back out again much until I got invited to a town. ahaha... o_o;

Thanks everyone! :)

Ohai! Welcome to NoobsCraft :3. We have a few things in common, I'm wanting to do something that involves graphics, one of the choices I considered was game designing :P

Yeah, it's really a great field to be going into right now, with the way the entertainment industry's going and all. Exciting time to be an artist, I think! Though, it also means that the competition is heavier than ever, too...

Oh man...Jayjay...This is an absolutely brilliant idea, and I think everyone here's got some great ideas for making it work, as well....

I think Achmed's idea of starting with a spawn shop is pretty good...Though a big central library with things sorted by genre etc would be cool...

I really like this idea, and I'm anxious to see it happen. I'd certainly give writing something a try. :) Not much more to add, I just wanted to voice my support of this great idea!

'Bout time I introduce myself, I guess. :) I'd  been playing single player minecraft quite a while now and never joined a server before.

Joined Noobs last Friday because I realized I'm working way too much, needed something to relax, and wanted people around to chat with while I did so. So I joined, promptly dug a hole in the wilderness, and hid until I was recruited to Nova. lol

I just like to build things, mostly. I'm a graphic designer working toward shifting into becoming an illustrator/video game designer.

'sabout it. I'm still trying to remember commands and whatnot for this server, but if you wanna say hi or something, please do! :)
