Other / Music Rivals
« on: 8 Mar 2013, 03:50:24 »
So I was wondering if anyone remembers the online game Music Rivals?  It was an online game around the early to mid 2000's.  Basically you created a band, released music, played gigs, signed a label, etc.  It was a lot of fun, but shut down because it apparently got too costly for the hosts.  I was wondering if anyone remembers it and/or played it.

I don't think so much that jail would be for the x-rayers, seeing as it is such a serious offense and people rarely get unbanned for it.  I'm thinking more along the lines of giving people who have a temporary ban or maybe a last chance ticket for those on the fence of a permanent ban.

As far as the mining part, I thought I mentioned something similar, but I guess it wasn't as clear as I hoped.  I was thinking that they could mine such as shifter had said and either split the findings evenly through the towns, or maybe have a lottery that each town can enter to win all of the prison's assets each week or so.
So pretty much slavery

Haha exactly.  But only as a punishment of course!  I mean in a way, that's what used to (and probably still does) happen in USA jails.  Making license plates, weed wacking on the highways and such.  Actually in Baton Rouge, they bring prisoners in after LSU football games to clean up trash left by tailgaters on campus.  The first time I saw that my freshman year I freaked haha.  That's off topic, but just saying it happens IRL so why not here too?  :P

I'm not sure if this has been asked before, but be prepared for a silly question.  Do plot taxes get taken out automatically, or is it something that has to be manually done?

Fair enough.  Like I said I was just throwing the idea out there.  Just a little warning, be prepared for me to come up with more crazy ideas in the future.

First, there are temporary bans that are just like jail, except you can't log on. Next, making them work for a nation isn't really possible, considering you can't force them to stay on a server. Even it if was, which towns get what resources? The only use I think a jail has is so people who did a minor offense can chat with other players at least while they're punished.

I was thinking more along the lines of creating a new chat sections just as you have in towns only jail specific so they can only chat with other jailbirds or the "guards."  Jail would be the only way for them to be "unbanned," so the people who truly want to stay in the server, but made a mistake or an "accidental offense" (so many seem to be accidental in the ban appeal section) would be forced to do "time" in order to be readmitted back to the rest of the world.  So basically instead of a temporary ban people are forced to put X amount of hours into jail to get back to having full privileges.  This would help find out the people who are truly dedicated to the server as opposed to those who don't really care if they get banned.  As far as the nations and resources go, I'm not really sure how to figure out who gets what so maybe put the fruits of their labor up for sale at discounted prices or something.  I haven't figured out all the specs as this was an idea that just popped into my head.

So I was bored last night and started reading through ban appeals.  While a lot of the appeals I read were very hard to read due to poor grammar and spelling, but I came up with an idea.  How about for lower level offenses or first time offenders (for certain offenses of course) instead of a ban, they have a certain amount of required jail time.  There could either be a Noobstown wide jail or jails in individual towns or nations.  Find some way to have these people only spawn in jails and have no access to commands other than say a jail specific chat.  You could have someone (a moderator or admin) as a jail guard.  Each person in jail would have a set number of hours they have to log of jail time depending on the offense and how many strikes they have.  Hours would only be logged while actually on the server.  This part is probably a stretch, but maybe instead of just having them sit around in jail, you could have them mine (either for the individual town or country's profit), grow and harvest crops, or make basic tools to sell for x amount.  I don't know if this is actually a possibility or not, as I am very new to both MC and obviously multiplayer and servers.  Let me know what yall think!

Those would be awesome to make into a hotel for newer players.  Maybe you could figure out a way to have a section to rent and some to own as well.  Not entirely sure how it would work, but I'm sure somebody could figure it out.  I love the designs.

So this might be the wrong place to post this.  If it is feel free to move it to a more suitable location in the forums.
To my main point, I have been having trouble finding towns in Noobstown.  When I exit into the wilderness all I find are what looks to be remains of old towns.  Am I missing necessary mods or something to see everything?  Or am I just looking for towns in the wrong place?  I don't have enough noobz to buy a plot in a town, but would like to look around to see what would work for me in the future.

PS I am very new to MC so I'm sure even the most basic (even common knowledge to some) information would help!

New? / New to Noobscraft and Minecraft in general
« on: 21 Feb 2013, 05:35:13 »
Hi I'm jtread4.  I just joined tonight and I just bought MC yesterday.  My younger brother has been playing mc for quite a while and I finally let it catch my interest.  I played the demo off and on for a little while but never quite understood the full idea, so I decided to buy it.  I started playing in Noobztown just about an hour ago and out of curiosity joined to be a member.  I have already received quite a bit of support from several people and feel like a part of the community already.  If there is any advise that anyone has about this server or mc in general I'm up for it!
Thanks,
jtread4

PS Is the best way to learn in Noobztown to learn as you play and discover?  Some people told me about tutorial videos but I couldn't find them unfortunately.
