Suggestions & Ideas / PVP MiniGames
« on: 13 Aug 2015, 19:30:11 »
Alot of people love the PVP in minecraft, and a good arena is something this server doesn't have.  You have a few mini-games now but many of them can only be played during server events.  What if a few people want to duel it out?  They can make bets against each other and it would be a fair fight, not who has the best enchanted armor.  Anyway here is something I built yesterday that I thought would be good to kick start this idea.

It is a four player archery battle with platforms to jump across for a close quarters battle.  But it comes at no risk.  Miss a jump or get hit by an arrow while jumping across mean certain death with lava lurking in the depths.

And here is the schematic link.
http://www.planetminecraft.com/project/archery-wars/

And you can't really tell in the pics, but the lava is about 10 blocks below the structures so nothing will catch on fire randomly.

Towns & Nations / Party Park Showcase + Applications
« on: 14 Jul 2013, 22:51:14 »
Below you will see pictures of all the mini-games that myself and my staff have come up with along with a few other things.  We have worked extremely hard to bring you the best town available bring out new ideas that have never been used before.  For years MorningWood has been the leader in town improvements, and eventually, all other towns adapted to those improvements and added them to their towns.  But we have gone above and beyond this time to make you the best town to live in.

MorningWood is known as the original party town, because we were the first town to implement mini-games.  It was a small concept at first and has now turned in to what you are about to see below.  There are still other games that we have yet to add because they are either incomplete, buggy, or still simply ideas.  I am going to try to show you all a bit of what we have, without giving out too much info.  If you want to be a part of this, where will be an application at the bottom for those who want to either work during parties, or help manage and build the park.  But I believe it is time to unveil a big part of what to expect in Morning Wood with Party Park V2.

Morning Wood always strives to express the true beauty of minecraft.  We started in V2 as a small castle with beautiful surroundings.  In V3 we went for a cozy village theme in the woods next to the ocean.  When V4 came around we tried a mountainous region with a deep valley dividing the shops and the plots connected by a magnificent bridge.  In V5 we attempted to revisit the village idea in the landscaping, while adding the buildings of a city.  With the release of V6 on its way, the staff of Morning Wood has been hard at work to bring you a great community, an interactive game park, and a beautiful looking town.

Our new town designs once again combine the beauty of the nature of minecraft, with the glory of the city.  With the help of redstone we plan to make Morning Wood the most efficient town available by using the energy of the sun to power many parts of the town.  Here are a few pictures of what lies ahead in the future of the town.

The center of the town, our new spawn point, displays the number of wins each district has  acquired in our new hunger games style competition, District Wars.

A side shot that better captures the whole spawn point.

A ground shot looking up at the center pedestal of the spawn point with the Green District entrance in the background.

Morning Wood is strong in the belief that you work for what you have.  If you want free items, you have come to the wrong place.  If you want help better understanding how the server works or some tips on how to build, use redstone, farm, or mine, Morning Wood is the place to go.  We are happy to help those in need, but we do not put help beggars.

Morning Wood has always tried to offer up shelter to those who can not afford to buy the pricey plots of big towns.  That is why we have built a place for people to stay while they get their grounds set in Noobstown.  We have built a small 2 story duplex (as seen in the below pictures).  Each room comes stocked with: 1 bed, 1 crafting table, 2 furnaces, 5 single chest, and toggle-able redstone lamps.  The furnaces will come stocked with 8 coal to help people get started, and one chest will contain 6 cobblestone, and 2 logs of wood.  Here are a few pictures of the Duplexes.

The front of two of them.  As you can see the lights can turn on/off

This is what the interior will look like.  The kitchen is on the left, and the storage closets are on the right.

A street view of the Duplex, also shown is our old idea from V4, mailboxes are coming back.

In V5 Morning Wood was a quiet town, we didn't try to get the most residents or have the most money.  We wanted to look nice, and offer a cozy place for people to live in that also offered a wide variety of things to do.  Some of these things included Hawthorn Harbor, a beautiful fishing dock.  Miner Dave's Cave, an imaginary character, bent on bringing down Morning Wood by stealing from the bank and hiding in caves riddled with parkour challenges.  We even had our very own water park with 2 fun slides, a 3 tier diving tower, large coconut trees, and of course, a lake lined with sand.

All that said, when Morning Wood had it's first birthday in May of 2012 we threw a party, a few minigames, a race in the parkour cave, and some pvp in the events world.  That little party sparked a brilliant idea of an entire area dedicated to parties.  Without further ado, I proudly present Party Park!

An overview of the entire park built on my private build server.  This picture only shows what has been tested and works perfectly, there are many other games still in the making not shown in this picture.  I will also only be touching on a few of the ones shown, but there are 7 in this picture alone.

A popular game making it's way back from V5 is the dispenser drop game named, "A Drop Of Luck."  In this game players stand in one of three rooms.  Depending on which ticket you buy (they will be cheap) you will get items tossed at you by a dispenser, but be careful, there are fire charges and arrows in there, and if you die, your items are placed in the dispenser for others to win.

Another basic game that we are adding is Connect Four.  Using sand and gravel players drop the blocks to attempt to connect four of their block type.  But be cautious of what the other player is doing and block any chances they have to connect four.  First person to connect four of their block type wins.

An overview of the inside of the game, as you can see players will go up the stairs and place their block in the above slots.  Then go back down to watch what their opponent does and plan their next move.

A random game I played by myself to demonstrate what it looks like.  As you can see the gravel player one on the top left.  It was really hard to beat myself, so I kinda cheated and made sand lose for the demonstration.

As you can see we have a lot in store for you all this go around and we could really use help when V6 is released.  If you like what you see, and would like to take part in this great journey, simply click the small [select] link below to copy the info, then paste it into a comment on this topic.  Fill out the information asked of you and I will get back to you as soon as I get a chance.

Suggestions & Ideas / PVP Toggle For Towns
« on: 29 Apr 2013, 17:24:37 »
I would like to see the PVP toggle that is already in the towny commands actually work.  I don't know if this can be enabled while having overworld PVP off.  That is what this suggestion is for, because I did notice that you can turn Fire on in a town allowing people can place fires in their plots, so long as the toggle is on.  But I have never tested it for PVP so I do not know if it works.  But if it doesn't I would like to see that implemented if at all possible.  I'm sure many people would like to make their own PVP arenas for their towns or any other game that would require PVP, Like snowball fights or king of the ladder off the top of my head.

Towns & Nations / Important Notice for MORNINGWOOD Residents
« on: 11 Mar 2012, 20:47:03 »
RESIDENTS OF MORNINGWOOD

The town is going through a major change and I will be taking over as mayor again.  For those of you who do not know, I founded MorningWood about a year ago and it has traveled through the versions of Noobstown ever since.

But the major thing about this is that the town is changing locations so *IMPORTANT* if you own a home in MorningWood I can not assure you that it will be there in 2 WEEKS.  If you wish to keep your items it would be best to take them and store them somewhere safe outside the town boundaries.

Residents with plots will be refunded if asked, or given a new plot in the new town.

The location has already been picked and construction is underway, the new town should be ready to live in by the end of the week.

*REMINDER* If you do not remove your items I am not responsible for lost or stolen materials.  You have been warned on, noobscraft, the nation forum, person, and signs within the town.

We are working very hard to make the town as functional and good looking as possible.  Thank you for your patience.

Towns & Nations / MorningWood White-List
« on: 28 Jun 2011, 00:53:28 »
White-List

Due to major expansion in MorningWood I am placing a white list on the town.  We are getting too many people to quickly to keep up with everyone.  I know this is kinda a douche move, but the town is increasing at an alarming rate, and I said I was going to apply this later.  And it is later.  So apply here, we are still accepting most people, but just to give us some time to expand we will be applying a white-list.

To apply for a white list fill in the information below or visit our website and apply there. http://morningwood.freeforums.org/index.php

*mandatory
*In Game Name-
Age-
Gender-
*Why you want to join us-
*How will you benefit the town-
*Do you have any past town experiences-

-note- You will not be discriminated against any of the information you provide.  It is just to see what kind of groups are most interested in joining the town.

If you are already part of town of you don't need to apply for the white-list.

Just post your information below in a comment and we will get back to you on whether you can join or not.  Most of the time you will, but it will just be a given amount of time because we need to expand the town and it is hard to do that with people joining all the time needing help.  We just need some time to expand, and then we will start accepting people again.  Thank you for being patient.

Towns & Nations / Morning Wood Village
« on: 21 Jun 2011, 04:07:00 »
MORNING WOOD

Hey all, MorningWood is back up and better than ever!  As you can tell we went with a more village approach this time rather than the castle look.  Reason being was the castle limited building space, but now we have more than enough room to build on.  Not only did we change the look of the town but we added a few new things that will improve how the town functions.

New Installments

1. Monorail System - This allows for faster travel throughout the entire town.  It is a system of raised railways that take you all across town with various pit stops incase you find an area you wish you want to visit.

2. Separate Plots - This was a problem with the previous town, plots were not set up properly making it hard for me to stop people from building randomly.  All plots are in a general area near the harbor and gives a suburban feel to the village.

3.  Town Boards - I have installed a set of boards in the town square (town spawn) that give the rules of the town, tell news of upcoming events, list jobs that people have that you can make money from, and a board that list your advertisements of things you are selling in a shop or selling personally.

4.  Bonfires - We will have a lot of bonfires, this started because I was destroying a home that was vacant, and everybody came and watched as I blew it up with TNT then decided to burn down the rest.  Right when I started burning it night came around and everyone just had fun playing around in the fire.  Everyone had a good time so I am making it a tradition.

5.  Directory Signs - Something I notice in a lot of towns is that have all these random buildings and people get lost in the towns.  I have set up signs all over the town to help guide people to the major areas of the town, such as: Town Square, Public Mine, Woodcutting Forest, Plots, and the Harbor.  This is to help outsiders have a tour without someone guiding them, and to help residents find their way around as they get used to the layout of things.

Those are just a few things that have been added to the town to make life easier on residents and myself.  If you have any suggestions to things that could improve the town post them below, please no BS ****.

A Little Bit More About The Town

MorningWood is a great place to live with beautiful plots and lots of friendly people.  Our town assistants are always helping with people who have questions and I am also always trying to help wherever I can.  I am often busy with town improvements or helping someone else, so if I am busy and nobody is online to help, I just ask you have patience and I will help you as soon as I can.  We almost always have someone online that can help though so you shouldn't have any problems with waiting for someone to be online.  I live in the US, and I am on Central Standard Time and I am typically on from 9:00 pm (21:00) until 3:00-4:00 am.  I am also on throughout the day for 1-2 hours at a time.  But if I am not on there is usually someone on in the town to answer your questions.

MorningWood is currently the most popular town in the server, we have 30 residents as things stand right now and the amount of residents just keeps rising all the time.  If you want to join just talk to me, BIRDMAN2121 or my right hand man Ossukas.  I hope you choose MorningWood as your home town.  See you online!

Suggestions & Ideas / Add A US/Canada Op!!!
« on: 19 Jun 2011, 05:31:55 »
I know you have an op for these time zones, Ringburn, but he is Rarely on...  He may just be busy or something.. But I have been having alot of troubles in my town lately and there are no Ops online in my timezone so I have to wait 12 hours for help.  I know most players are from UK/Europe and surrounding areas, but the rest of us need help too. =(

This is not an Op request, I have no interest in being an Op... But we really need another Op in US/Canada time zone.  You have probably lost interest in the post already and have disregarded anything I have said.. But at least I tried...

The major problems I am having are as follows:

1.  Griefing...!

That is the only problem I am having, and it is within my town limits, which I do not understand because perms are set to off, Tyja was wondering if I have them off because he was able to build in the town, so I double checked with the command, /resident set perm off and it said, "Successfully changed permissions set to denyALL."  So I thought my town would be safe from griefers and from stupid resident who want to build off their plots.. But no, this has done nothing to help.  And we also made sure he was building inside the town limits, and he was...  So I need major help because I am tired of being griefed by resident/griefers.  I can handle almost any problem that comes my way with this game.. But there is nothing I can do about griefers... I hope I can get some help on this because this is getting on my last nerve...

Not so much rap though.. Rap kinda sucks ****s..  I love playin games but I still enjoy getting out and havin fun with my friends.  I am a guy.. and guys are pricks.  So be careful ladies..  Cause it doesn't matter what the guy does or says.. He is still a prick deep down.  I am strongly opinionated but I am not a douche about it.  I put in my opinion and hope it works in my favor.

That is just a tid bit, but still more than most people.  =P  Hope to see you all online!
