Hi, guys! It's your good ol' neighborhood Fred trying to pick things back up again. I started becoming less active this summer partly due to summer school, and also because I wanted to spend some other-gaming time with my lil buddies (masterjbc in particular. He and I go way back). I was also job-hunting toward the end of summer. I ended up getting one, as a computer tech at a factory, and I started my new job on September 2nd. Currently I'm working weird hours (3am-12pm) and eventually it'll be 11pm-7am. I've had other projects and local church stuff occupy my time as well. Oooh! and this is what I wore on Halloween (compare with my siggy) During my extended break I've honed some building skills from watching BdoubleO100, Keralis, and other big YTers. I built this airship inspired by the old cartoon show Teddy Ruxpin: I hope everyone has been having a great time since I became inactive(...ish). And Merry Christmas! And now to figure out how exactly to start back up again Re-familiarize myself with builds I've done months ago, storage chests, out-of-stock chest shops, unfinished projects... lol. Good to be back.

It appears that Record 5, or music disc far, or item ID 2260, which is a bright green disc, appears as a chirp disc (item ID 2259) on the Auction. I saw a red disc being sold, but it had the description "Far." Don't have a screenshot, but if you hover over the far disc on the Music Discs section (you'll notice there's two red discs, it's the one on the right): So I buy out this red Far disc for 4,000 Nbz, and checked my Collection chest: Turns out it was a chirp I would pay 4k for a far, but for a chirp... well, good thing I don't have it yet. Can the auction icon for far be corrected?

A simple suggestion to change the chat message color for either wildy chat, or party chat, to differentiate the two channels. There has been a couple of times when a party member has missed my party chat message because they were in the wildy world and there was a lot of wildy talk going on.

As with the previous thread, this first post will always be updated to the latest map, and I will be doing bump posts when a new update is up. EDIT: Why those weird numbers, you ask? Those came from the little image tiles used in the Live Map. Our Live Map goes exactly from -12288 to 12288 for x and z. That number comes from 16x786, and since it goes both directions, that means our map is 1536 chunks by 1536 chunks. (Furthermore, the live map renders image tiles that are 256 blocks square, or 16 chunk square).

Post your stories and/or screenies of Noobmases of old! Last year was my first Noobmas, and I particularly remember carving out a wide underground area for a steve statue in the middle of the ocean, at coordinates x:1225, z:2012 (or thereabouts). And several shenanigans with Anime and other friends. (May need to move to Pictures if majority of the posts have screenshots)

I know we all come from different cultural backgrounds, so I was just curious. Oh. Be sure to imagine yourself as the giver AND then also as the receiver, before making the final answer. Feel free to leave your thoughts below

I attempt to reply to a couple of folks' "Hi's" then it says Cannot send chat message. Is this what it's like being muted? Then this mute is kinda random. (I don't remember saying anything bad... ) Or is it just a chat bug? Either way, it looks like I'm in a one-way communication mode Only incoming chat messages. I can still send Party chat though. But no one in the party was on so nobody replied. Meanwhile, in the process of trying to figure out what went wrong, I stumbled upon the ignore list. If one types in /ignore, it'll now list off all the people you've ever ignored in your whole Noobstown life. Two folks in my ignore list are "list" and "help". xD

It's about time for this topic to get started.
Ahh, I'm wondering what nations in V6 would be like. It feels like the significance of a Nation sort of died down when /nc became disabled. Since then, the only way to get to know people from other nations is if one actually looked it up and did /nation or /nation list, paid attention to the towns in one's nation, and kept a pulse on who are in those towns. I have to admit, I tend to be quite partial when it comes to helping strangers; I only help out intentionally if they're out in the wild or are part of any town in my nation. If people ask for a town, I refer them to one of the nation's towns, if not my own. I miss the 4-character tags, the titles (ti.tles), and the random yellow-colored chat from Albatros (DF) trying to help someone from Nova. So from that background, I thought I'd bring it up, along with these questions.
1) Will we have /nc back?
2) Will we have some competitions among nations?

Today we had a Maze event, which featured Zephy's gigantic maze at Tortuga. The contestants awaiting the signal. The Countdown! And they're off! Dynamic Map view. *peeks from a corner* The winners won some diamonds. (I forgot how many exactly, too focused on paparazziing). Josh_Apple got out first, followed by OreoxMonstah, and I forgot who's 3rd.

First, before starting, have this video/song playing in the background as you read on. TOPIC PURPOSE Moving on. I've decided to write this guide to share the success I have thus far with level grinding. I started only with one skill in mind (go Jakeys!), but ended up focusing on multiple skills. Also, it's been about two months since the V6 announcement, and maybe at least one more month until it comes out. I figured it's about time someone spilled. I report about things I've done, which might or might not work for everyone. The goal is for people to get ideas and incorporate it with their own. Whenever a skill is highlighted, there's a tip or two around ( this serves as the TL;DR disclaimer lol). A WORD ABOUT RESPECT It is tempting to take a break from grinding when you're one mcMMO level above someone whom you've just passed. You can then take and use your bragging rights, either verbally or silently. But please be reminded of good sportsmanship. I personally consider it courteous to stop one level behind the next guy (depending on who it is, I guess) and let it stay for a couple hours before continuing. Or leave a /mail. I admit being hypocritical about that though. But if I find out that all my hard work is beaten just by one level, it kinda stings, so "Golden Rule" applies here. Also respect other people's secrets. If they don't want you around their fishing spot or mob farm, or aren't keen on talking about their strategy, then don't insist/persist. CHOOSING A MAIN SKILL At the time of the Token Program announcement, Taming was largely ignored, with DiggyDog standing tall at 269 and the runners-up at around 100. While plenty of good grinding systems exist for the other skills, I thought of choosing one main skill that would be under the radar, while everyone else went for Herby or Fishing. So Taming it is. I keep a mental note on where the Wolf (Jakey) Spawners are in a few towns, so acquiring dogs weren't a problem. At the time, Squids and Bats were off, so my underwater mob/disc farm worked brilliantly. I filled up most of the caves/mineshafts around it to supposedly increase spawning rate. With the couple of 3x/6x weekends, I was on my way. I became determined to get and keep Taming #1. UNINTENTIONAL SECONDARY SKILLS Unlike Fishing, training the Jakeys (named after Jake the Dog lol) gave me an opportunity to work on other skills simultaneously. Since dogs don't chase Creepers, I picked up a bow and destroyed Creepers from afar, allowing me to get Archery #1 at one time. Taming XP is maximized if the dogs didn't get your help (meleeing mobs), so I took the blows on my armor and let the boys finish the mobs. Because of the undisclosed amount of diamond blocks I got from a Veteran drop party, I was able to up my Repair quickly as well. By not hitting the mobs, I get hit by them more often, increasing my *Dodge* opportunities. So on the side, I leveled up Acrobatics too, albeit slowly. (Another Acro tip: /sethome at the top of a home-made Acro tower). OTHER SKILLS Okay, I guess saying "I got my diamonds for free" is not a helpful tip. That's when I bring up Mining and Excavation, and even Fishing, all of which at high levels can give you more diamonds. Double drop from ores, diamonds from dirt (tip: clay mining may be faster for Excav), and Fishing 600. These three skills seem to be very straightforward when it comes to tips. Oh. Never fish in an indoor pond. And find a rainy fishing spot. MONEY FROM ENCHANTED ITEMS Whether you're in a mob farm, mining ore, or fishing, your enchant XP is bound to go up. This can be used in selling enchanted items, and the profit can be used to buy much needed materials. Beacons (and iron blocks), mob spawners and eggs, and/or diamonds are key items for grinding. (Beacons for farming "herbalizing" and fighting mobs, spawners for Jakeys if you can find Wolf Eggs, and diamonds for repair and armor). So. Renewable enchant XP plus diamond blocks equals what? Ta da! Fred's enchanted tool shop! For sale right now are assorted high-end Picks and Shovels (minus E5). Rare chains that you get from the mob farm might also be a good investment. I prefer to sell them non-enchanted but with full durability, to give the buyer a chance to add enchants on their own. This is where I reveal a Mining secret. Sure, sandstone and end stone are good. And netherrack too. Wield an E4 and it's like hot knife through butter. But no enchant XP. Thankfully, in the Nether there's quartz ore for XP. So if you're not lazy and feel like towering up to those ceiling ores, go for the quartz. They'll raise Mining skill fast too. Quartz veins also appear hidden underneath the netherrack btw. I used to think 33 was the best level to enchant, but as it turns out 30 is almost just as good. If you're at or above Repair 600, you'll be able remove/reset an inferior enchant via Salvaging (something that didn't occur to me until recently). IGNORED/LIMITED SKILLS "That's one less skill to worry about." When deciding which between my two lowest combat skills I should drop, I chose Swords. It's been stuck at 49 since the announcement. By kicking one skill off my list, (which has both good and bad effects), I can focus on my main/secondary skills better. There are two skills in which I decided to stop grinding right below a certain person's level (I consider as an upper limit). This way, once I reach that person's level, I can stop grinding that skill and focus on others. CONCLUSION A respected scientist once said... (Nah, I'm not ending this post that way) Bottom line though, no matter how many tips you get, it's hard work that gets you to the top. And again, these tips/methods are not for everyone. One may be used to the 2x2 Jungle Treefeller method for Woodcutting. I, however, prefer the lowly Burch Birch tree, with Haste II and Speed II beacons, and a plain Diamond Axe. So find your own way, stick at it, and improve. Always improve. All the best to you. --ummfred EDIT: Oooh! And coincidentally this is my 250th post lol

Hi there In preparation for a redstone shop, I'd like to have an idea on what the community demand is like for redstone stuff. So go ahead and pick one, two, or all, if you're in need of it. Votes can be changed at any time. Assume that the items will be available at an affordable price and in mass quantities. -Fred Side note. What should my redstone shop be called? RedstoneShack, kinda like RadioShack? Or maybe The Fredstone Shop, but I find portmanteaux nauseating lolPS. +500 respect points (via Respect Voucher) to the first one who correctly recognizes where the image at the top is from.

Yet another Treasure Hunt! Do you feel sad that you have chestfuls of useless redstone that just occupy space in your storage area? Well, feel sad no more! Sell them when you find an UmmFred Redstone Chest Shop! ( UFRCS for short? Sounds like a zombie grunt). Hidden in each one of my plots is one double chest and a shop sign right next to it where you can sell 7 stacks of redstone for either 333, 350, or 375 nbz at a time. There is also one double chest UFRCS in the wilderness, several chunks behind a certain nation's Great Hall. Good luck, because all of my 4 plots are each in a different town! Hurry, because if 3 of the 5 dc's become full, I might be persuaded to do more! Lots of luck!

I've tried different times of day to sell music discs, and found out the market was pretty small. So here I run to the forums.
If you catch me online, you can buy from me the complete set of 12 music discs, for 28k. (Open to some slight bargain). I have 2 sets available right now. (Almost 3, just need one more disc)
The two rarest discs (wait and 11) can be bought together for 18k.
All other discs are for sale, depending on availability.
Fine print: I will only perform transactions when I am on the server.

I will run out of VIP powers in 2 days! I have enough points to get another 30 days (actually, a few months) but I am anticipating a lot of irl busy-ness in the following several weeks. I am strongly thinking of putting off VIP until things are a little not-busy again. Anyways, that wasn't the whole point. I came to thinking, "What are some things I would always be doing, regardless of what my member status is?" So I made a list... (Read the rest in x: -3430, z: 3480) What about you? A lot of us have recently supported or purchased VIP and some have run out... Some have been here since the beginning of Noobstown as Veterans... What will never change about you?

...so I've been taking note of some of the dishes (desserts included) that have been mentioned in global chat, which we Noobstown players have been eating, one time or another, in our computer seats while our fingers are momentarily away from the WASD and mouse. Of course, this is not an exhaustive list of options; I just picked ones that I thought would be kinda amusing or interesting. To balance that, I allowed 2 votes per person, and would end in 3 days. Drinks aren't included for now, otherwise we'd have... Tea, Coffee, Milk, Water, or Hot Lava. xD Buuut yeah, cast a vote, and comment!
