Other / Another Simple, Silly Riddle
« on: 8 Mar 2013, 02:21:23 »
I actually made this one up, so there may be a flaw in it.

Suppose you are playing a game of cards with someone, using a standard deck of 52 cards.
He asks you to pick a card from the deck, place it down on the table so that you can not see it. (You never saw it)
Now he takes away about half of the remaining cards. Leaving 26 (Discarding 25).
He asks you to again, pick a card and place it on the table so that you can not see it. (Once again, you never saw the card)
Now he discards all the cards but one, puts it face down on the table, this is his card. Neither of you know what any of the three cards are.
So now he has 1 card face down, and you have 2 cards face down.
He searches through the pile and notices there is no ace of spades in the pile of discarded cards.
He bets you 50$ (or whatever currency you use) that his card is the ace of spades, and if one of your two cards is the ace of spades, then you get the 50$.
Do you take this bet? (do you have the advantage or does he have the advantage, or is it equal?)
Explain your answer.

Other / A simple, silly riddle.

Assume there is a room.
This room as no way of seeing in or out, but there is a door that can be opened. When the door is closed, theres no way of seeing into the room at all.
There are 3 light switches on the wall outside of the room. Again, outside of the room!
Inside of the room there is ONLY a light bulb, which one, and only one of the three switches turns it on.
Your job is to find out which one of these switches turns on the light bulb.

The rules are:
- You can alter/ flick on and off any of the light switches (or any combination) as much as you want BEFORE you go into the door.
- You can only go into the room once, you may not leave the door open, you can't punch through the door, nothing like that.
-There's nothing inside the room but a light bulb, and you cannot bring anything inside the room.
-You can't take apart the lightbulb. Don't be on of the crafty electricians!
-Again, There is ONLY a lightbulb in the room that turns on and off.

So, what is the guaranteed way to find out which switch turns on the light?

Bad pixel diagram:

0=switches X=Lightbulb  l/- = Walls (That you cannot see through)

Other / Cube Puzzles
« on: 17 Feb 2013, 05:00:23 »
Anyone else into Cube Puzzles, or "Rubik's cubes"? Or am I just super nerdy?

If you are interested I get about 20-30 second solves on the 3x3, and 10 seconds or less on the 2x2. I have other size puzzles but I don't time myself really on them.

Guides / Repair Grinding Guide (Pictures Included!)
« on: 29 Jan 2013, 23:00:39 »
Theres tons of strategies for leveling up the repair skill, I will be covering several effective methods. Also keep in mind you need an iron block for all of these methods (except one). Keep that in mind! If you are level 50 or higher, go to part 2 (If you're level 600 or higher check out part 3, but it's slower than most methods in part 2) of the guide! Otherwise, Let's get started.
Heres an experience chart for all materials per every time repaired(Results may vary, These numbers are not exact!):
Leather: 65 experience
Wood: 35 experience
Iron: 325 experience
Gold: 300 experience
Diamond: 2000 experience
String: 250 experience
(These of course are doubled with [VIP] powers!)

------
Part 1 (Levels 1-50)
------
Since there are so many methods I'll be covering here I will actually be dividing them into subsections for part one. Again, although it's not listed, you need an iron block for every method! All of these methods can be used past level 50, but usually they won't be as effective, as you can repair diamond tools by that point. Here we go!

Miner's Method:
Probably the most standard method but does get the job done. This is good for people looking to raise mining levels a lot, but also get some repair levels on the side.
Here's what you need:
-Iron Pickaxe
-Torches
-Iron Ingots
As simple as it gets, here is what you do:
1. Go to a level in which you want to mind, I recommend under layer 16, as there are diamonds to be found there, and mine in any pattern you want.
2. Mine until your pickaxe is near breaking point (One pixel on the bar should do).
3. Repair it on your anvil
4. Keep mining, and repeat the process.

Like I said, the most standard method but hey, it works. You'll gain lots of ores, including iron, so you can't really lose money or resources with this method. You'll also gain mining levels, but yes this will take a while, probably the slowest logical method.

Speed Miner's Method:
I'll warn you, this method is expensive to your resources. This is the method I used to get from level 1-50 though, as it may be the fastest method to get to level 50.
Here is what you need:
- Gold pickaxes (One will work, but it will be slow, I used a total of 25 pickaxes)
- Gold Ingots
- Torches
- Iron or Diamond Pickaxe (Optional: to mine ores such as iron or diamond, as the gold pickaxe cannot)
Yep, that's right, gold! The reason this is the quickest is because gold breaks down crazy fast. Not only does it mine cobble faster than any pickaxe in the game, but it degrades very fast! Around 25 blocks before it hits no pixels fast. Combine those two together and you have a very quick method to level up repair.
Here is what you do:
1. Find a layer to mine on (same standards as the iron pickaxe method)
2. Mine with your gold pickaxe on stone blocks until it hits a black bar (No colored pixels showing)
3. Repeat step 2 for all your pickaxes
4. Repair all of them, with a repair level lower than 50 it should take 3 gold ingots to repair each one, around 900 experience per pickaxe! And 22500 experience for a trip!
5. Repeat the process, a pickaxe or two might break, just keep going in that case with the ones you got.

This method is costly, because of the real lack of space you mine, you find little to no ores, meaning you pay for 98% of your levels, however I consider it the fastest, and if you're looking for speed this is your method.

Cactus Hugging Method:
This one is a bit more painful. The method is actual very effective, but due to the heart loss, it tends to be slower than mining (due to time healing). This can also be effective with diamond armor! Let's get right into it!
Here's what you need:
- Armor of any kind, Gold is the most effective, as it degrades fastest, Iron is the second best.
- Cacti
- Sand
- Food (Golden Apples are very helpful)

In place of Golden Apples a beacon with restoration works as well, but That is very expensive due to the beacon, and the blocks needed.
Here's what you do:
1. Set up a little "pain area" 3 cacti plants in a pattern so that there is one block in between all of the, as in the picture below.

2. Stand in between (red wool block) all 3 cacti plants, stand there until your armor is almost dead OR you have 1/2-2 hearts left.
3. Repair armor. Since armor takes more materials to craft, it also takes more materials to repair, giving more experience!
4. Repeat process.

If you want to go real overkill, combine the golden apples with the beacon. You will almost never die. But if you're not rich you can always just do it the normal way with regular food, and wait for your health to regen.

Fishing Method:
Yes I'll include this method, even though it's a total chance game when you use it. I'd only recommend this method if you also want to increase your fishing levels. But who am I to stop you? Here you go, fishermen.
Here's what you need:
- Fishing rod
- String (No matter what you will need this for the fishing rod repair)
- Assorted materials to repair with (It depends on fishing level really, you can fish up any armor or tool type, so bring all your iron, leather, string, cobblestone, wood, gold).
- A body of water

If you wonder exactly what materials you need, you can check the mcmmo wiki, but some of the information may  be out-dated. Link here:http://mcmmo.wikia.com/wiki/Fishing
Here's what you need to do:
1. Find your spot to settle and fish.
2. Fish as you normally would
3. Whenever you get a damaged item, repair it.
4. Whenever your fishing rod is near dead, repair it.

This method is similar to the first one. You gain lots of fishing levels, but repair is more of the side thing. If you're really aiming for repair levels, and only repair levels this method is not the one for you.

Finally, level 50! It's time to repair diamonds! Oh boy, Diamonds! Part 2 coming your way!
------
Part 2 (Levels 50-600)
------
Now that you have diamonds added to your repairing abilities, things are going to go quickly. Very quickly. Let's get started! (I think I'm saying things like that too much :P)

Tree Feller Method:
This method is not for everyone sadly. It's a great method, but it's effective increase with your woodcutting level. Check out my woodcutting guide for more info on that here: http://www.noobscraft.com/guides/woodcutting-guide-(pictures-included!)/
Another thing about this method is you virtually cannot lose money. It takes about 3 diamonds at max to repair a broken axe, and using tree feller will gain you more money from "/sell" than diamonds cost. And I suggest at least level 100 woodcutting before attempting this method. Now with that out of the way, we can start.
What you need:
-Diamond axe(s)
-Dirt
-Jungle Saplings (You'll get alot from this method, so don't start out with a bunch)
-Bonemeal (3 stacks should do fine)
-Space in a NON-SNOWY BIOME (The trees will now grow otherwise!)

I'm running out of things to say here. Again, make sure you are in a non-snowy biome!

What you do:
1.Make serveral 2x2 dirt square for sapling placement, space them out at least four blocks. Here is a picture example:

2. Plant the saplings in a 2x2 square on about 3 of your dirt plots (For every 200 levels past 100, add 3 more spaces and a diamond axe (Example: level 300 woodcutting = 6 spaces and two diamond axes))
3. Grow the large jungle trees

4. Cut the trees, if you are using more than one axe, switch to another axe once one of your axes hits red-bar. If you do not the axe may break and you will lose it as well as your repair experience!

5.Collect jungle logs, you can turn them into planks and "/sell" for a nice profit if you want.
6. Repair axes, If you do it well enough with one axe you can make around 4000 experience every 3 minutes!

Man, woodcutting and repair combined? What more can you ask for?! Maybe that's just me, but this is the quickest leveling of repair I know of. So this is your go-to method.

With this method you will be AFK alot. So you will need a 3 minute activity to do while you're waiting if you don't want to stare at a timer. I personally watch videos, play around on forums, or play another game. But figure out what you want to do.
The next two methods are just diamond add-ons to previous methods I explained:

Diamond Pickaxe Mining:
This is the same as the iron pickaxe method or Miner's Method, just with diamonds. Once again, good if you like leveling up mining primarily, It's honestly something if you don't want to level up woodcutting.

Diamond Cactus Hugging:
This is the same thing as the Cactus hugging method, just with diamond armor. Do everything the same with diamond armor as before. Probably the best alternative to the Tree Feller Method.

------
Part 3 (600+)
------
This is more of a bonus method to be honest. It's good for excess materials, but like the Tree feller method, it's only useful if you have high fishing stats. Here we go
What you need:
-Gold Block
-Fishing Rod
-Various materials to repair (Yes you do need to repair the items you fish up before you salvage, as you can only salvage when the item is at full durability)
-String

The gold block is needed for this method, as it is used for salvaging. This method can actually gain a bit of profit too!
What you need to do:
1. Find a body of water for fishing.
2. Fish until you get some repairable items.
3. Repair the items to full durability on your anvil.
4. Salvage them for their resources on your gold anvil.
5. Repair fishing rod when needed.

And that's it. Although it's actually slower than the Tree Feller method it's something. I personally am not to big on fishing but, meh. You guys can test this method and see how you like it.

Well it's been wonderful making this guide. I hope it helps you get up to a desired repair level. Have fun!:3

Guides / Woodcutting Grinding Guide (Pictures Included!)
« on: 29 Jan 2013, 01:09:49 »
First off if you are over level 100 you will want to go to part 2 of this guide. This method is one of the quickest ways to level up woodcutting, but even with that it still takes a while to level up.
Here are the mcmmo xp rewarded for cutting trees per log:
Oak: 10 xp
Birch: 50 xp
Spruce: 50 xp
Jungle: 33 xp
(These stats are doubled for [VIP] players)

Let's get started, shall we?
------
Part 1 (Levels 1-100)
-----
Although I say "Levels 1-100" It can be used for any level, and I personally would recommend you use this method until you reach level 150, but level 100 will be satisfactory for part 2. I will also warn you this is probably the slowest part, so be prepared to spend lots of time cutting on this part.
Let's begin the method now, shall we? So to begin you will need the following
- An axe (preferably diamond)
- Many saplings (Any type, Preferably birch or oak) (Somewhere around 640 per daily trip will suffice)
- Bonemeal (Equal amount to your saplings)
- Dirt (If in a desert)
- Cobblestone or any non valuable block you're willing to place
Now that you have these items, look for an area thats relatively clear (It can be in the desert, but you must bring dirt). Now here is where you get to choose your sapling. Heres the guide for Oak Saplings:
1. Make a row of dirt going in any direction however long you want (I recommend 64 blocks).
2. Place a cobblestone block 7 blocks above (six blocks of air inbetween) the dirt on one end of the row.
3. Continue the blocks above your dirt row until you get to the end of it, so every dirt block you plan to plant trees on has a cobblestone block above it.
4. Plant saplings in your row of dirt
5. Use bonemeal on every sapling, it should work for oak saplings, it may take a bit holding down right click.
6. Cut down the trees
7.Repeat
Additional:You may want to add two extra blocks on each end as "endpoints".
Here is a picture example:

You should be able to plant, grow, and harvest a row of 64 in above 5-7 minutes. Also the blocks above the dirt are important so that your trees can not grow overly large and become annoying as well as more time than they're worth. Once you do that you want to make at least one more row equivalent in length to your first, using the same exact instructions. This is to let the leaves decay, because it's harder to grow trees on a row with a ton of leaves, also it allows you to recollect some saplings. You want enough rows so that at least one row is clear or in use at all times. For example using a diamond axe with efficiency 4, I had 3 rows of 64. As shown in this picture:

Here is the guide for Birch:
1. Make rows of dirt, but with two blocks of space in between each dirt block. You should have a total of 64 trees in a row. (That's 192 blocks long, you can chop it down to 96 if you make two rows within 2 blocks of each other with 32 trees instead of 64)
2. Plant saplings in the dirt spots.
3. Use bonemeal
4. Harvest Trees
Optional: Set the 7 block boundaries like in the oak farm, this will just make every birch tree the same size, no other benefit.
Here is an example of a small birch tree farm:

There is no real "winner" to the best method, as it is faster to cut oak logs, but birch logs give 5x the experience. So you need to determine which method is the best. I used the Oak log method, but I have seen success in the Birch log method as well. Some ways to up the speed of the cutting include:
- Enchanted Tools
- Haste buff (Or another useful buff) from a beacon
- Continuing to get faster at the cycle of each method.
Finally, part two, at long last, what excitement could we have here?!
------
Part 2 (Levels 100 (150) +)
------
This is where you start to get levels to come in very quickly. I went from 200-400 in about half the time it took to get from 1-200.
Here is what you need:
- Bonemeal, don't go overboard but 3 stacks is usually enough for my day.
- 1 or more diamond axes (One diamond axe per every 3 jungle trees should suffice, *DO NOT ENCHANT THE AXE*)
- Diamonds
- Jungle Saplings
- An Iron block (If repair level is over 50)
- A chest... or two... or three...
-A crafting table

From the materials I think you can guess what's coming next. It's time to abuse Tree feller. For those who don't know Tree feller is an mcmmo ability that can be activated by right clicking on a log then breaking a log. First off you might as well build a small shack or base of operations. In this shack put your iron block, crafting table, and chests.
An important note is that your space of working needs to be in a non snowy biome. Otherwise the trees will not grow! Let's get started on the step now.
1. Make several 2x2 spaces of dirt to grow your trees. Space these out at least 4 (but not over 7) blocks apart from each other. If you are level 100 you have 4 seconds of tree feller to cut down multiple trees with, so you can probably get around 3 trees in that time. However if you are level 300 or so, You can probably down around 4 or 5 trees. And
the pattern goes on.

2. Plant Jungle saplings in the 2x2 spaces, make sure you have a 2x2 square of saplings on the dirt space.
3. Use bonemeal on all of your trees.

4. *READY YOUR AXE*
5. Cut the trees from the bottom block as fast as you can, If your diamond axe loses durability (Down to red), switch to a second one quickly if you brought it. Each axe can cut around 3 trees (may vary).
6. Collect tons of logs (3 trees would give around 3-4 stacks, 6 trees give around 7-8 stacks... and so on)

7. Repair axe if level 50+ in repair (See Repair Guide here: http://www.noobscraft.com/guides/repair-guide!-(pictures-included!)/msg56003/#msg56003), Otherwise make a new axe.
8. Repeat the cycle, Each tree gives about 2000(small) - 6000(Very large) xp. (Equation: (Tree Height*4)*33)

With this method you will be AFK alot. So you will need a 3 minute activity to do while you're waiting if you don't want to stare at a timer. I personally watch videos, play around on forums, or play another game. But figure out what you want to do.

Continue this process until you have enough wood, are satisfied with your level or you just feel like you're tired of it and want to take a break by making a guide about it... I mean, you're tired of it. I hope this helps people level up in the arts of the Woodcutting, and make some money on the side as well. Happy Woodcutting!

***UPDATE February 8, 2013***
With recent changes to Mcmmo you actually don't need to worry about growing trees "too large". You can also grow trees easier (takes less space). But branches are not broken with tree feller, so you will have a lot of pointless floating branches. These should not effect you at all, even if the seem abnormal, you can still grow trees like normal, and it's more of a good thing than a bad thing.

***UPDATE Februrary 11, 2013***
The levels 100+ method has been completely nerfed, not only are tree "too large" back, but you have a lot less total Tree feller seconds. You can still attempt this method but now it will be a lot harder to get the same experience or money profit out of it.

***UPDATE March 2nd, 2013***
The level 100+ method works effectively once again! Fatnoob went ahead and changed mcmmo a bit, and now you can use the method once effectively as ever! Happy woodcutting!

Music / Knife Party! (Dubstep)
« on: 28 Jan 2013, 01:29:14 »
Well, since I'm bored, waiting for Tree fellers while woodcutting I guess I'll talk about dubstep! I got a good song for any Knife party, Swedish House mafia, or just a dubstep fan. It's a huge mix of Knife Party and Swedish house mafia songs all in on huge 33 minute song. Heres the a link to it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ySX0Q8K-Qj8#ws
If anyone has a dubstep song they like, feel free to post it here. I want to listen to all of them! :3

Suggestions & Ideas / "/seen" Command For All Users.
« on: 11 Jan 2013, 02:39:29 »
A nifty little command I personally think would really help the server. For those who don't know /seen command tells you the following: Allows you to see the last time someone has been on the server (down to nearest minute) as well as seeing how long they were online their last visit. Also you can see how long any player has currently been on the server (Login time to current time). I think this plugin would help town assistants and mayors to figure out what players are inactive in their town, and deal with them however they would. If you want to see how this plugin works here is a page I provided: http://forums.bukkit.org/threads/info-seen-v1-2-find-out-when-they-were-last-here-1-2-4-r1-0.43656/. Thank you for taking the time to read

Pictures / Minecraft Structures! Need opinions!
« on: 10 Jan 2013, 00:36:26 »
I've spent the past couple of days working on two minecraft structures One is around 110-130 blocks tall, the other is around 60-70 blocks tall. I hope to build at least one of these on the server in the future. However, there is no interior for the following reasons. First, too many pictures would need to be taken. Second, I change my interior every time i make a design on minecraft, so for reference purposes, I only build the exterior on the creative map, please only judge that part of the structures. I have 2 images of the two structures for you to critique (Oh, that pesky data limit!). I also have the .zip file which I'd be more than happy to send if I was given an email address to send it to (I'm lazy, give me some time to respond :P). I want all opinions, whether good or bad. Thank you for your time.
