Support / laggy death?

I logged on decided i was too lazy to get to level 30 for the enchant so i was going to do it at 24, did /home thinking my spawn was at my house, was acutally in the nether. I had a eff 4 diamond pick and i wanted to see how fast it was on netherrack so i was doing some mining of that (super fast

) then i started just lagging a bit. After that I was getting damage ( had almost full food no mobs around me) then i died...i got all my stuff back but the xp i lost

i know mods/admins probably wont do anything for me their...But can i atleast know my cause of death?

My name is cyerye.
my answers you the questions are as followed.
Why do you want to be a town assistant?
1) I think i am on frequently and i love to always be busy so I'll be able to do any tasks that the town needs done. I also want to be able to let new players be able to join a town because when i first started i was super confused/lost. XD
What in the town do you think should be improved?
2) I think we should have spawners that spawn any monster. I also think we should have more group activities to get players in the town involved. We should have more town only things so that people want to join the town.
What is the code?

I was out in the middle of no where helping Phillips8 clear some land for his town so when I had to leave just logged off. Then when I relogged on I was still their but it was night time and a creeper blew me up before the server was even fully loaded? I lost some diamonds and a diamond shovel and a LOT of dirt, I don't really care about the dirt but the diamonds I lost frustrated me. So I was curious if 3 things,
1) is their anyway I could have gotten back their easily? Like a command or something?
2) anyway to get my stuff back?
3) anyway to prevent a creeper from blowing me up before my computer fully loads the server?
