Towns & Nations / Re: DragonFire
« on: 16 Jun 2012, 20:42:10 »
Hello scam664. :) I would be glad to let you into town, but, not to crush anyone's dreams or anything, but the chances of just anyone becoming a TA in DragonFire are something along the lines of 1:1,000,000. You have to be quite an incredible person, in my opinion, to become a TA, and I have to trust you a LOT. I use the same criteria for assigning TA positions as I would use for assigning mod/admin positions on my own Minecraft server, so the chances of any single person becoming TA are relatively slim. If your only goal in joining is to become TA (and this goes for anyone reading this/thinking about joining DF/already in town, not just you, so I'm not singling you out by any means), then I suggest finding another town, nothing personal, its just the way it is. On the other hand, if you don't mind the prospect of possibly not becoming TA and still want to join town, then you're more than welcome, and keep holding on to your ambition for TA (just not asking about it every day. XD ), and you never know, perhaps someday you will be, but no guarantees, of course, but it is always good to have dreams, even if they don't come true. :D

If it was because of lag that could be the default skin in the texture pack that you're using. Still funny. XD

That is correct Tide, unfortunately, I don't believe that leaving the chat will help with join/leave spam, as with the attack last night. Also, I agree with Twist, perhaps something could be added to the OP that instructs people not to attack/be disrespectful to/insult/etc. the spammer(s) as, for one, just because they are spamming does not mean that you shouldn't treat them with respect just like all of the other people on the server, and for another, talking back to the spammer(s) and insulting him/her/them could make matters worse, in more ways than one. Particularly for the fact that whomever is doing it is, more than likely, partly looking for a response, which, if you're talking back at them, insulting them, berating them, etc., they'll probably just keep going, if not get worse about it, because you happen to be giving them exactly what they want, and they're thoroughly enjoying it too. It would generally be best to simply ignore them and calmly report them, /ignore them, /ch g leave, etc.

Noobstown General / Re: Question about new update?
« on: 26 May 2012, 20:42:18 »
Currently, Ender Chests are not player-specific in SMP, such that all Ender Chests in the world, no matter who placed them, have the same alterable inventory that can be accessed by anyone with an Ender Chest. I personally am certainly hoping that they are made Player-specific for when the update finally comes out, otherwise the utility of them would be severely diminished, imo, which would be sad considering how expensive the recipe is.

1.) I only have one house.

2.) My house isn't even that big, what its built on is large, but even at that, my "house" benefits the town in several current and upcoming ways, it serves more utility than just as a house.

3.) I will not build it in the wildy, I made a town with the intention of having my house in it, and my current home is built within the town that I am mayor of for multiple reasons.

4.) Nor will I do what you suggested Jay, because I feel that to be wrong, as none of my residents can, or are allowed to, do that, so neither should I. My feelings on this are exactly as Twist's above.

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Higher Plot Limit!
« on: 22 May 2012, 18:52:42 »
I disagree because every town doesnt need 100 embassy plots for people trying to make houses or shops. The reason there is a limit is so people don't get carried away with having 10000000000 plots. It's called being greedy. people that want more plots you guys shouldn't be so greedy. Be happy with what you have or what you can get. Your lucky you even have privelages to be in a town and stuff.
You're over-exaggerating by a little achmed, with "a little" being a huge understatement. We're asking for, at most, mabey an increase of a mere couple of plots, at least for TAs/Mayors such that we could have, for example, a four-plot home in our own town, and mabey a couple of embassy plots in just 1 or 2 other towns. We're definitely not asking for, or wanting, anything near the astronomical numbers that you're implying, and I personally am offended at you so loosely and offhandedly throwing accusations of greed toward those asking for a slight increase in the plot limit, particularly as I am one of those people, and you calling me greedy is stepping so far from the truth that you're, figuratively speaking, standing on the Moon at this very moment. The last thing I am is greedy, 90% of my personal income on the server goes to the benefit of my town, nation, and other people in general. Rarely does any of it go to my own direct benefit. All I personally want is to be able to set up a mere couple of embassy plots, along with the four that I already own in my own town of DragonFire for my home. I would hardly call such a request greedy.

Towns & Nations / Re: Whats a nation?
« on: 18 May 2012, 17:16:19 »
A nation is basically a collection of towns, which all generally help each other out in terms of resources, manpower, advice, and other things (Of course, that's not required within a nation, but it seems to be common, at least on noobstown). To see if you happen to be in a nation type "/town", without the quotes, in the chat and if your town, Jazz in this case, is part of a nation, there will be a line in the text that comes up that says something like "Nation: nationNameHere". If you do happen to be in a nation, and you want to know a little bit about your nation, simply type in "/nation". Also, if you are in a nation, you can switch into, and out of, nation chat in a similar manner as to town chat with "/nc".

Tbh, I actually kinda enjoy the occasional rainstorm in Minecraft, but the storms on the server lately have been getting just a liiiitle bit ridiculous, imo...with "a little" being a fairly extreme understatement.

Noobstown General / Re: Forum Hate ;/
« on: 16 May 2012, 16:22:28 »
We were not hating on you Miner, we simply misconstrued what you said to be a true statement rather than a joke. My suggestion here would simply be to make certain to make your meaning and intentions in what you say abundantly clear to start with, either through your words or otherwise, so that we aren't left to assume, as it is very hard to tell a joke like that apart from a true statement of how you feel, especially when that joke is received through the emotion/intention veiling text-based communication method that we call a forum . ;)

I would like to see about getting a recruitment kiosk for DragonFire.

Age: 19
How many hours per day: 1-12, depending on the day, average 2-8.
Why you want this role: Helping to moderate servers that I love, despite how hectic it can be at times, is one of my favorite things to do in Minecraft SMP. Being able to help a server, and the players on the server, in such a capacity is just something  that I love doing. In addition, I've noticed a potential need for people with Bukkit plugin developing capabilities on the server and I would love to be able to help the server in an IT-support capacity by being able to work alongside the staff of Noobstown. I'm a lover, not a fighter, but I will fight for what I love and I have come to love this server as a Minecraft SMP "home" and would like nothing more than to be able to "fight", in a sense, for Noobstown, in a far greater way than I am capable of doing right now.
Past experience: I've been a mod/admin on 2 other servers, both indefinitely dead at the moment, as well as being admin on/maintaining a server of my own from time to time (a plugin-testing server, so its not up 24/7, though I have had it up for extended periods of time in the past with people on the server).
Time zone: North American Eastern Standard Time Zone, GMT-5
Additional information: I am, in general, a calm, cheerful, and helpful person whom is kind towards, and understanding of, all sorts of people. I suppose that, as far as those on the server go, the person that could best vouch for me, good or bad, as they've seen both from me, would be TidalMewMew, as she is a trustworthy person, imo, and she has known me since...well...just about as long as I can remember...since mabey 2nd or 3rd grade. Also, if my plugin developing capabilities are to be a factor, as I mentioned them, I suppose I should provide a link to an example of my work, so I shall here. The download link for the source zip is the second link from the top of the first post.

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Higher Plot Limit!
« on: 6 May 2012, 21:13:31 »
I think it would be nice if you could have 4 plots in your town, and then at least one plot in a different town. So that people could get an embassy plot if they want.

I personally have 2 plots as my home, and then 2 plots as my shop. Therefore I'm unable to just go and get an embassy plot even though I really would like to get one. :P
Yup, pretty much the same here for me. It would be greatly beneficial to have a higher limit than 4, possibly even just for town mayors/TAs, as they are the people whom most often run out of plot spaces that they can own, often right when they're considering setting up a new shop, or creating an embassy in another town.

I fully agree with the nay-sayers here. Towny war just wouldn't mix with/fit into what we have come to know as Noobstown, imo, for a large nuber of compelling reasons, which Albatros quite thoroughly already covered. XD

Waterworth has contacted Fatnoob now. He will hopefully be fixing this issue now. :/

why do you always act like a mod or admin dan you not one
He's not acting like a mod at all unless you count being a good citizen, being helpful, and letting others know what's going on, which, granted, mods do on a frequent basis, but its good when others that aren't necessarily mods do the same thing if they do happen to know what's going on, and there's nothing inherently wrong with it.

Server Announcements / Re: Server upgrade! 23/4/2012
« on: 20 Apr 2012, 20:35:02 »
Just saying, I have never seen the server at its "MAx player limit" why make this bigger?
The point is, that the more slots the server can viably handle, the better the hardware it's running on, and thus all the less lag for everyone that plays on it. Though Foob didn't specifically mention making the server bigger, he simply stated that the new server computer would allow the server to handle more players.

Other / CISPA: Politics Alert, EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sllDt-jlUvs#

This is a real problem, and I'm ashamed to think that my country's Gov't tried this once, nay, twice, but I'm even more ashamed to find that they're, idiotically, trying it AGAIN! I can't believe what this nation has come to! D:< And even worse, our representatives are not even listening to those of us who contact them saying "NO!", simply regarding us all with a detached kind of amusement saying, "Oh, look at you saying no to something that's going to be passed anyways."! And the REAL rich part, whereas businesses like Google spoke out against the likes of SOPA and PIPA, guess what? They're BACKING CISPA!!!! D:< EVERYONE should pay attention to this, whether you live in the US or not. If this passes in the US, what do you think is going to stop the governments of other nations from trying the same/similar thing, eh? This is scary and really needs attention worldwide. Unfortunately, unlike SOPA and PIPA, which had little backing and a LOT of opposition, this bill has a frighteningly good chance of passing, as it has all kinds of backing, including backing from major tech companies like Google, as well as a fair few major defense contractors that have a LOT of money to wave around, and we all know that when it comes to politics, even in the US, money speaks WAY louder than the voice of the people.
