Noobstown General / Re: What is YOUR noobstown story?
« on: 18 Aug 2012, 13:52:45 »
Noobscraft was the second server I came to, the first, I was kicked for griefing. me? I was such a noob I actually had to WIKI griefing, because I didn't know what I'd done wrong. Thank God I was, or I might not have found the only server I like enough to stick with.

I was still totally new, only had a minecraft account for about two weeks or so when I joined, but I looked around, found out what I could and tried not to annoy people. I went to the mining world and saw, (to my horror) a stony plain, stripped of all resources.
I then noticed that the floating leave wouldn't be floating if they didn't have wood, so went round the entire jungle removing the floating wood.
That was when I noticed I had no space to call my own and decided to find a town to join.

Morningwood.
Birdman showed me round (ignoring my humour) and I fell for the town hook line and sinker. I ought a plot which already had a house on it (so it cost less, because lets face it, I was still poor)
This was when I started my random ventures, my first was when I realised that wood and sand farming then smelting glass gave something like a 3.7 profit per piece of glass compared to selling them individually. I quickly and understandably got bored.
So I decided to dig.
And dig I did, a 16x16 square straight to bedrock.

The mayor saw me slugging away, mining every single day with stone tools (yes, stone.) and we became friends, so when he started building the new spawn for Morningwood, I immediately offered to help, the monotony of digging was starting to make me want to ragequit.
Thankgoodness I didn't.
Because soon after he told me about the anniversary party, and here my imagination exploded.

This was where the first of my wonderful ( :P ) 'Everywhere Games' appeared.
Morningwood Lucky Dip.
Of course it had its kinks and problems, most things do, but people liked it, and I liked that I was the first to think of it.

From there I made my home into a tower of games, the Room of Doom, Spin to Win Slots, and Lucky Dips. I had popular competitions and I remember how proud I was when I hit 30k.

This is how I met Buckie, and eventually he poached me and my games for Buckfast (Now Glasgow) long story short, we built a pub for the sole purpose of holding a pub quiz in, I have four plots of my own, nearly 300k,  and soon we will start building 'The Carnival' (It had better be soon Buckie :P)
I've tried to find another server to share my time with, but to be frank, they just aren't as good.
TBC...

If it doesn't have proper lyrics. Its not a proper song. I don't like dubstep much at all. Not even when I'm clubbing, I prefer a bit of Seether with amplified bass. It makes my ribcage happy :P

Just wanted to let everyone know that the winner of Glasgow's first test run quiz was GrizzShark! Who won 5000 Noobs. Team Rocket won the best team name (come on guys, inventiveness!) and won a diamond also, Achmed was sitting at the marked table, and won a diamond.

Our next quiz will be exclusively minecraft based!
So learn up friends, and well, I'll see you at the pub  8|

Like whoever that was yesterday. That I threatened to grief when he pushed me off the sixth time.

Also, to newer readers, we'd quite like suggestions for a Pub Name!  :D

Towns & Nations / Glasgow's 'Pub Quiz!'
« on: 10 Aug 2012, 14:01:09 »
(I didn't know where to put this so sorry if it's wrong)
With the new writable books, comes a new perplexing and patented game!
Each team should pay a fee, (Like 150 noobs, as an example) which will contribute to the prize at the end.

The idea is pretty similar to a pub quiz, in local chat (so as not to disturb everyone with our rowdy reckonings) we will ask teams a series of questions.

Then, they will converse in teams. (for this reason its probably best to have either a town based team, or pairs.) before writing the answer in a book. (Along with their team name, so also probably a diamond based prize for the funniest or most inventive team name.)

The team which gets the most answers right will get to pick from one of three chests as their prize. One will have the cash prize (which gets bigger with more teams.) one will have a random rare item, (diamonds, emeralds, tools, or enchanted items, Possibly eggs, depending on the popularity of the game.) and one will have 'Drinks on the house.' (Ie. potions.)

I think I would like to hold this as a biweekly event, and tweaking certain aspects so people find it more enjoyable. Please tell us what you think and what would and wouldn't work. I'm hoping the first quiz could be in five or six days but I'm not sure what times most people would be on.

So, thoughts anyone?  :D

EDIT: We're looking for Pub names! So far we have;
TheMiddle13 : The Office
BuckieUK09 : Glasgow Tavern

Loans lol, I can see some very big disasters in the near future.
No disasters, after all, Fatnoob isn't going to force every member of noobscraft to bail them out if they go bust :P

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: TnT

I agree, it would be nice to at least get some use out of it. Plus the mining spawn is protected so no one can grief that.

Other / Prizes to be won!!!
« on: 13 Jun 2012, 01:43:08 »
I wasn't sure which category to put this up in and I couldn't find a way to put up a new topic in the actual competitions page.
Morningwood Slots V.2 is up and running beautifully. (I hope)

There is a 'SimpleSlots' version (similar to V.1 but faster and with no back room) and more importantly, 'Points4Prizes' Slots.

When the 'Points4Prizes' slots is spun, three items show behind the glass. If these three items are listed as a valid combination you will get points! (For ex. Three sticks are spun, so the player is awarded 5 points.)
Similar to carnivals or arcades, these points can be saved up and traded in for things such as spawners, eggs, and other desirable items.

Due to an unbelievable rush of players and points in Morningwood's last competition (winner - DH4CFC with over 1400 points) players will be limited on low level spins. (This may be changed at a later date)

At current, players will be limited to 15 iron, 25 gold and an unlimited diamond spin counter.

I would be very interested to hear feedback as to what people think prizes (and how many points they cost) should be, along with ways to improve the competition.
Thankyou for not TLDR'ing :) See you at the slots friends!
