Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Remove Flux Mining
« on: 1 Apr 2014, 01:08:34 »
Veterans also have flux mining.

52
isn't the point to become a millionaire so u can buy all this ?????

of course not many people can match how many plots u have cite....

I hardly think anyone would put in hundreds of hours to get the amount of noobz me and a few other big builders like Omega need. There are many more productive things I can do where I feel a lot more like I'm actually accomplishing something than just mining netherrack for 300 hours.

53
I agree that there has to be an alternative way to earn chunks other than spending millions and millions of noobz or putting in real life money. I just don't enjoy the server anymore without the ability to build stuff.

Say you downloaded a 1.7.5 Survival World and tested it in Single Player. You find yourself in a 3x3 bedrock platform, and the only way to proceed is to somehow cross a 6-block gap to another platform on the same y-level. (It's high enough that falling means certain death). You take note that you have 11 string on your hotbar, which is the only item in your inventory. There's a sign on the other platform that promises diamonds and other good stuff at the bottom.

How will you cross the chasm using just 11 string?

I'd turn 8 string into 2 wool blocks, and place them on the edge of the platform, remove the first one and pick it up again, and crawl my way across the gap like that.

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Wilderness Chunk Purchase Idea
« on: 10 Mar 2014, 20:54:28 »
If I remember correctly the admins already promised before the start of this version that there would be a way to earn more plots the more you play on the server. Don't know if this was promised on one of the builder streams or in an old post, but I'm fairly sure about this.

Seems like a great idea to me though, implementing some sort of reward system that allows active members of the community to unlock additional wilderness chunks. That way you still have to work for it, but it would also allow people that are mainly focused on large survival builds to still achieve this in some way without feeling put down by tens of millions of Noobz that you have to acquire for these areas.

Noobstown General / Re: Donating for Noobz = NO! -_-
« on: 8 Mar 2014, 16:10:36 »
Because you don't have to work hard for  170 dollars obviously... In my opinion the amount of Noobz you get from buying it in donation is a bit low. But I guess it is an option if you're really that desperate to spend so much money on so little Noobz.

Have you actually seen how much real life money it costs and how little ingame Nbz you get back for it? Don't be worried about it, it's a totally non-viable option to get rich.

Towns & Nations / Re: V6 Town World Map
« on: 6 Mar 2014, 13:29:56 »
Wow, never knew the town world looked so beautiful from above. Love the map ummfred. I can't help but think it's starting to feel sort of like skyrim. In the way that the towns seem so nicely placed around the map.

It actually makes me wanna save up for a town in the snow and call it Windhelm or something like that.

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Adding Item Data to Auction

This is also something that bothered me, and might get people to use the Auction more. Just add an option so we can see the average price history of an item without having to put the item on there.

Server Announcements / Re: Revised Wilderness Pricing
« on: 28 Feb 2014, 13:51:16 »
After having had some time to play around with the new plot prices, I still think they are SIMPLY TOO HIGH.

Once again I like to refer back to the promise you guys made back on the builder streams when you were still preparing for V6. Where you ENSURED ME IT WOULD BE NO PROBLEM TO COLLECT 400 CHUNKS FOR MY BUILD. Right now, I already had to tone down that 400 to 120 last week, and this week I had to lower it down even more to 95 because it just isn't possible to get many more chunks without spending too much real life money on it. And even to get to those 97 plots, that is 41 more since I already have 56 plots, I still need 15-20 MILLION NOOBZ FOR IT. Even if you do say, like you said last night, that the economy is set up to potentially be 10 times bigger, this amount of money would still take me 6 months to get if I compare it with my V5 earnings and multiply it by 10.

TL;DR
Right now it would only take me A WEEK TO GO OUT, GET A JOB, AND EARN THE MONEY I NEED TO BUY 40 MORE PLOTS, while it would take 6 MONTHS AT LEAST TO GET THE NOOBZ FOR IT.

You are just discouraging every fanatic builder from going for a nice, big wilderness build. In fact, even if I spent real life money on it, it would be like 6-8 times cheaper to just save up 850k for a town, and buy myself 400 towny plots for my original build than it would be to buy 40 extra plots for my current idea. You didn't make a lasting wilderness world. You made an empty one with small, useless buildings because everyone that likes to build big will just go to the towny world. I wouldn't mind it that much if you had told in the builder streams that it would be this much. What I do hate is that you guys don't keep promises you made and seem hellbent on destroying everyone's hope at getting a nice big wilderness build if they desire to do so.  Last night I even got told that having a lot of wilderness chunks is "endgame". It's not everyone's endgame dream to own a big piece of land. For me gettin the big area is just my early game. My endgame would be just grinding mcmmo and helping other players out by providing them with cheap/free resources. Sorry if I sound annoyed in this post, but I am pretty annoyed just because in everything they say and do the admins don't seem to want people building big stuff in the wild.

Looks good Cite, nice to see the snowglobe reborn.

I'm actually making plans on surrounding him with 4 little globy brothers. Only problem, chunky prices =( It's either gonna cost me 100 euros or 20 million noobz to get enough room for it. Chunky prices are still WAY too high.

Erection of the dome over time (yay I got all plots needed) I had to take the pictures inside the dome after a while because my platform was too close by to view it properly =( It's exactly 101 blocks across if anyone wants to know. 50 blocks high (59 if you count in the stone bricks wall)

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Trade Chat
« on: 26 Feb 2014, 12:12:11 »
I agree with this. You know there is too much trade chat when half of the chat history is taken up by advertisements of players. A trading chat would (hopefully) get rid of this. Although I do think this would make the /advertise thing a bit useless.

...

Just one quick reminder for the reason of the money sink that is chunks. I don't know if you've played last version, but we ended up with a bunch of people sitting on millions of noobz with nothing to spend it on. That's why they added a money sink like this to give these players more goals to work towards. So this hasn't really got much to do with the economy you keep bringing up, since everyone gets 10 plots free which is enough for a royally-sized house and everything you need to get started on the server.

69
You won't reach the 2 million noobz cap until plot 196, Harry.

Good post, but I have a number of remarks.

1. This server wants to be able to promote itself as an economy server. So even if you don't want to play the stock market game, it is part of an economy server. Don't like it, then this isn't the server for you.

2. A lot of people here love to grind, and grind a LOT. Whether it be mining, woodcutting or anything, they will spend hours on day to level the skill they like and earn money that way. If you revamp the income in the way you want it to, you are essentially punishing these people for the sheer amount of time they put into this game. Even if you say that normal people won't do mass farming, and mass farmers can sell to these people, you also have to consider that normal people DON'T DO MASS BUILDING, and thus don't need these mass supplies. You can already see it with wood, where woodcutting grinders are stuck with 30 double chests of logs without people to sell it to.

TL;DR:
Your post is good, but you focus too much on the normal, average minecraft player and seem to forget this server is a survival/economy mcmmo server, and is promoting mcmmo grinding and the ability to play the market.

Server Announcements / Re: Revised Wilderness Pricing
« on: 24 Feb 2014, 15:15:30 »
I think most people largely overestimate how big a plot is... If you have 50 plots, that's only a small 100x100 area on a truly IMMENSE map. The V6 wilderness world is not only BIGGER than the V5 one, but we also don't have to share it with towns anymore. Having plots cap at 2 million is still a big achievement to buy that many plots, and still offers people some room to expand, other than the old method which would make plot number 200 cost like 30 million noobz.

The project is done for now! The visit is set up!

/visit Citebafla

Anyway, the whole complex is around 160 chunks big.
It has 7 different biome domes and a big main dome.
Underground I have a farm and multiple spawners.
There is also a shop area that will feature more stuff as we go along.
Below the visit is also a redstone piece for firework shows, as I will be hosting parties with Noobstown events.
The big dome will also be changed with the Noobstown events.

Behold some of the pictures here!

Suggestions & Ideas / Lowering wilderness plot prices.
« on: 10 Feb 2014, 18:00:50 »
First of all, let me say that I love the whole idea of chunky, and you guys have done a great job at it.

However, I think the prices of wilderness plots get exorbitantly high within a fairly short amount of time.
I had a chat with Duelcon about the prices, and he explained to me the motivation of the admins behind it. I do understand that there has to be some sort of mechanism to keep large growth of people's plot sizes in check, and to prevent a large number of inactive wilderness buildings to ensure this world will be a very long-lasting one.

But, I did do a few calculations, based on the number of plots I've bought so far. The plotprizes increase exponentially, although there is a slight decrease in the amount of exponential growth. To explain it to people:

You buy plot A for a certain price.
Plot B will cost the price of plot A, with a fixed price increase +20%
Plot C will cost the price of plot B,  with the price increase of the previous plots +19%

So basically, the price with every plot will increase, but the percentual increase will be gradually lower, so the price increase between plots will flatten eventually.
This is a nice system, and although I'm not exactly a mathematical genius (far from that) I do know enough to do some rough estimations.

Keeping into account the decreased percentual growth in plot price increasement, by the time you have bought 20 plots in a best-case scenario, each plot will be at least 80k per plot. Keeping into account that I am planning to buy 49 plots for my building, the equivalent of 112x112 blocks, that would mean that eventually I'm gonna need a multitude of millions to buy all plots needed.

If we then take this into comparison to the income I had in V5, it took me 6 months to get about 2 million noobz. I totally understand that you don't want the world to fill up quickly, and that you want people to actually work for getting a decent sized area. But taking over half a year just to get enough terrain to get a 100x100 building seems ridiculous to me. And that's only for getting the terrain. After that I'd have to start on the actual building itself.

So in the end, my suggestion/idea/request/question is, is there ANY chance at all that the prices of wilderness plots will be lowered? Cause I highly doubt any person would have the patience to spend half a year to get enough terrain for a decent sized project.

I'm a bit disappointed to be honest. In the builder's streams during the development of this version I specifically asked the admins if it would still be possible to go for big projects this version, and I even used my example of a 400x400 building, which would've been my original project for this version (So I already had to tone that down to a 100x100 building) and I was guaranteed that it was not your intention to discourage big projects and it would very well be possible, so it would be a very nice gesture to see you live up to this promise, which kept me waiting for V6 during it's many months of development.
