Server Announcements / Re: V6 Token Program
« on: 19 Mar 2013, 12:16:37 »
This isn't how it works. I was talking to Foob about it and he was telling me that the new Veteran system will replace the old, meaning I'd become a normal member again if I didn't play to earn the title :/.

Joe, can you confirm, or better deny this statement ?

I am so proud of my veteran title, I would hate to lose it.
When we were given the Veteran title I assumed it was because we had shown trust in the noobscraft team by donating when they needed it most, at startup.
I guess I could even be ok with veterans being stripped of their VIP powers, since other VIPS have to pay on a regular base for it,
but please let us players of the early hours keep the exclusive Veteran title.

Based on a dictionary lookup I suggest a different title for people who put in many hours.
(The dictionary shows very clear how different both titles are, by the way)

vet·er·an
[vet-er-uhn, ve-truhn]
noun
1. experienced through long service or practice; having served for a long period.

ad·dict
[n. ad-ikt; v. uh-dikt]
noun
1.a person who is addicted to an activity, habit, or substance.

If addict has to much of a negative load, I suggest : noobaholic.

Its good to see were not al alike, that would make for a grey world.
variation and differentiation colour our surroundings.
I do get your point Max, I do.

How much fun is an 'etch a sketch' if you don't turn it upside down once in a while ?
Even your best drawing on it deserves a better successor.

86MaxSmart, believe me, its better to travel then to reach your destination.
When travelling you get to see the world before you.
With a new vista after each bend in the road.
Once your there, all that's left is looking back....

As a veteran I have seen world resets before, and when you first enter a newly reset world you sure feel lost, naked and poor.
But after a few world resets I can honestly say, they ARE worth it.

To those how might feel 'robbed' of their skills, levels, money and property :
It was the journey that brought you joy, not the destination, think about it....

In the new Town and Wilderness world you will start this journey again, with equal or more joy.

On a personal note, I love the new setup, exploring is my thing, so a new and triple size wilderness is to good to be true.
Being able to protect a small plot in the wilderness is a bonus.

All in all I am very pleased with the progress the Noobscraft team have made.

No downsides ? maybe one, the 2 month wait for this reset to happen might disrupt 'normal' life on the current world I fear.
But hey, good things take time, I am confident all will turn out well, as always with this dedicated staff.

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: PvP
« on: 15 Mar 2013, 15:42:05 »
Given the amount of complaints I see from people who lose their stuff when they die by there own fault, I think having this PVP switch in the normal world is a bad idea.
Theres always going to be the poor sap that forgets to turn it off after a PVP match en he will fall victim to 'sitting duck' hunters.
Then the discussions start and they never end friendly.
Keep PVP in a separate world, when people enter they know what there getting into.

It wont change a thing either, when people now dont go into the PVP world, what makes you think they will switch PVP on in the normal world ?

Just boot the server with a new seed, I did not like the carpet in my house anyway, we will call it V5.1
Yall chill, just kidding, would hate to lose my 2 stacks of dirt.

Would the new server also allow for a wider border ? I have large parts of the current one already :)

You could also go into SP and hack yourself a million NZ.
But whats the fun ?
I always go for the fun of mining, that warm feeling when you sell your hard earned ore's.
Not to mention that a little physical workout is good for the body......oh wait...I am mixing my worlds up again.

People get impatient because people were made promises.
Its a logical reaction.

Linda, I am sorry to hear anyone was unkind to you, here's a tip on how to stop the abuse next time.
I think you can use the /mute command on any player, that should stop him/her from hurting your feelings.
Then report him and I am sure the OP's or Admins will take appropriate action.

Welcome back to slavery Joe !
Now, never mind the naggers, sit your *ss down, ponder over your memories, rifle through those holiday pictures and when your ready, but only when your really ready get things in gear.
Thats is the one and only way to end a nice holiday.  8|
Rushing into work is like you never went on a break at all , don't do that.

First of all, thank you staff, for inviting me to be OP, I am very pleased and eager to help people out on the server.
Although I am relatively new to the server and I don't spend the hours on it that some do, I am sure I can be a valuable addition to the list of new OP's.
For starters, I am in the GMT+2 zone, same as Lindatjuh (thanks for congratulating me) and some other Dutch or European players, so they can expect to see an OP on-line more often then before.
I can only hope to live up to the task, but I will try my stinking best, and thats a promise.

(am currently in the UK for business, cant get minecraft to run on my netbook, will be back on Friday)

Should you run out of builder with awesome capabilities, then I would like to offer my moderate experience with worldedit.
I have build a nuclear power plant on the dutchmines server once. I thought it looked nice.
As far as a nuclear power plant can look nice in such a green and friendly world.......
I build it because of that contrast to begin with, it looked out of place, yet since you find them all over the world irl, it also looked familiar.
To be honest, I had mixed reactions, but I think ethics played a major part there.

Would love to help and learn at the same time !
