Server Announcements / Re: Server Rules Update
« on: 21 Jul 2014, 15:29:16 »
Swearing in a chat is a strange phenomena if you think of it.
In real life, a swear word may escape your mouth in the heat of the moment.
In a chat you need to type it in, even the four letter words take longer then to recover from your initial reaction........
Typing in a swear word is always 'after the fact', as far as I am concerned, and therefore completely unnecessary.
Whether it be an actual swearword or some replacement, its not the initial reaction to an emotion, its just a cry for attention.
People that type in swear words only do so to provoke a reaction like 'what happened' so that they can tell their sad story.
It should be easy to refrain from swearing in chats, its should even be easier to refrain from using substitution swear words,
just tell us your story without swearing, the good thing about a console chat is that you can always convince yourself that somebody is actually reading all the rubbish you are writing.

Server Announcements / Re: VIP Update & Changes on Noobstown
« on: 6 Jun 2014, 14:33:47 »
Yay, I am VIP+ now, nice, thank you.
Any future plans to also incorporate my (oldskool) Veteran rank ?
Something like VIV ? (Very Important Veteran)
I still feel a tad bit sad that a 'bought' rank is more dominantly displayed then my 'earned' rank.
Cool update though !

I take it you live there by choice ?
Maybe you should take into account that its harder to breed or keep certain mobs when you decide to settle somewhere ?

Been down there, got killed several times, its though as nuts

Would it be possible to announce the exact moment the Nether and Miningworld are being reset ?
Perhaps a countdown timer, or Calendar widget on the main page ?
I myself am always worried around the time that people claim that Nether has reset.
I use a /home command to get to Nether and am worried I might end up somewhere nasty after a reset.
Knowing that it has reset, or when it will be reset , will persuade me to use the normal portal that day.

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Auction system
« on: 17 Mar 2014, 15:41:51 »
This may be out of Admins hands. but. If you could make the item sale history line graph visible prior to posting the item on auction it may help to keep prices balanced.
Say you want to sell a stack of wool, but you have no idea what its selling for or sold for in the past, the line graph might give you some insight.
No more posting items @ 10x the price of the same item 2 slots down the list.

Also, right after the restart I noticed that Treefeller (Woodcutting skill) was nerfed so now it's impossible to chop down multiple trees with it, making it mostly useless (and this certainly devalues bonemeal, too).

Dont know what the issue is, I was able to fell more then 1 tree with treefeller activated.

Server Announcements / Re: Revised Wilderness Pricing
« on: 25 Feb 2014, 08:20:58 »
Ah come on, its not that hard to earn some money.......
I have already owned 10 chunks of vulcano, bought plots (unattached!) in a NPC village, sold the lot and now own 12 or 14 plots in a swamp. (selling plots does not restore your money, so I lost it all)
This all before they lowered the prices................
And I estimate I play 12-16 hours a week.
By now I must have generated 100-150K (can the mods look that up somewhere ?)
Granted I have some Veteran and Vip buffs, so moving around is a bit easier for me, but still....

Surely some service level agreement should have kicked in by now.....
or don't those exist in the USA ?
This kind of downtime due to ISP would be unacceptable in Europe.

No need for safe houses, its survival mode.......
I have walked to the border without getting in real trouble, its not that hard outside.
You can claim a plot, spend the night and then sell it.
Or
Run like mad and leave all mobs in your wake
Or
Find an NPC village to hide in for the night, most NPC's will open doors for you.
(use the live map to find them)

The 'cloudsquid' banner at the bottom of this page is also not working, aren't they the servers hosters ?
Perhaps bigger problems then ?

I to feel that the worlds look quit artificial.
As you might know I am a lover of the wild, would have also preferred it to look wild.
Walking around in it might give a different perspective, from above it looks a bit 'disneyland' to me.
But thats the eye in the sky view, from down below I suspect that feeling will fade.

19
I am gonna enter Wilderness and run like mad, until my screen glitches and reads 'you have reached the border'.

Did some maths on uptime of this server.
Calculating only this 4 months of downtime against the 34 months of existence, uptime would be : 88.3%

Lets hope its up before the 3 year birthday on the 18th of March.

I understand your personal choice of what to do but that isn't going to benefit the entire community nor give a good impression, people want to join v6 and start building knowing things are going to be around a whole lot longer.

Point taken, will join ranks and wait for it to come on-line.

"The best Minecraft online experience out there"

Nah, not going to say it, to easy......

Thanks for the update Joe, I have been trying to make sense of it but sorry, I can't.

Just release as planned, and wipe the whole thing when we get to the 1.7.2 release.
Yes, that would give us only a few weeks of play in V6 before its all wiped for V6.1 but hey, some play is better the NO play, at least in my book.

Your explanation about why it would not work involves upgrading the world from 1.6.4 to 1.7.2, if I understand correctly, hence my suggestion : release now, dont upgrade in the future, but wipe, use the backup file you have and start over.
Heck, you could even just restore V5 and let us have some fun with that !

Effectively the guys at bukkit now decide when we will be able to play, I thought YOU were in control, my mistake I guess.

« on: 15 Nov 2013, 12:14:55 »
If you would of looked at some of the posts, the transition from 1.6.4 to 1.7.2 changes world saving meaning you have a high chance to lose everything you built (House, farms, towns, etc.) and start from scratch again, I think waiting for 1.7.2 is a better idea. :/

Let me try and correct that view for you.
Lets say they DO release 1.6.4 now, people who want to can play and risc losing it all when they upgrade.
People like you, who do not want to risc it simply do not connect.

Outcome for those who do not like riscs : same as waiting for 1.7.2 (not playing till release 1.7.2)
Outcome for those who dont mind riscs : being able to play now, with the upfront knowledge of losing stuff.
No downside for either party.
The team might even consider to reset the world on purpose when 1.7.2 is out to avoid that those who played on 1.6.4 have an advantage.

V6 was ready weeks ago, this wait is a waist.......
Rackspace and bandwidth is paid for I assume, lets use it.

While we will have @CraftBukkit dev builds, there are issues in Minecraft we can't fix that may prevent us from getting anything stable out.

If opening on 'a Friday', as I presume, were coming up to a three week delay now.
Three weeks where I could have happily played on it, even if it was only 1.6.x.
Three weeks missed out only because we wait for a third party.......

X-mass is only 5 weeks from this Friday.
At what point will the Noobscraft team reconsider ?
