It could be argued that forcing rhythmic structure from prose doesn't constitute poetry...

The long explanation is that when you try to /sell carrot, the Bukkit plugin that processes the shop commands is probably interpreting your command as "/sell 141" rather than "/sell 391".  Carrots (along with several other items) might use a common name between multiple ID's within the game: In this case, a carrot (item) is given an item ID of 391 to represent a carrot as dropped and held in inventory, whereas a carrot (block) is given a block ID of 141 to represent a carrot crop as it would exist when planted on tilled farmland and progressing through it's eight stages of growth.

While the game uses the name Carrot for both the block and item, when creating a chest shop, using 391 or 392 on line four will cause the sign to read 'Carrot Item' or 'Potato Item' - I can only assume that a chest shop sign with 141 or 142 on line 4 would read simply 'Carrot' or 'Potato'.

Of interest is that when carrots and potatoes were first implemented, harvesting planted crops would sometimes drop the 'block' as well as the 'item', so for a brief while, the ID 141 and 142 blocks were obtainable in survival mode via this bug.  In inventory, they used the texture of the respective block in early stages of growth, and had no use in crafting or as a food item.  You could, however, replant the 'block' and it would grow through the stages to maturity just as is you'd planted it's 'item' counterpart.  Ordinarily, the only way to obtain these 'blocks' would be with the /give command or similar workarounds.

Hmm. Why does it seem that the horses grunt like piggies?

They ate too much and are about to explode, dropping, uh, saddles? I hope it's saddles, as opposed to what horses usually drop

Music / Re: Strangest song/music video?

I like Pete Drake, but man, there's something strange about this video.

The truest 'heavy metal' band evar?

Warning: Pixelated gore.

It's easy to forget that this is a really sad song, with this really strange video.

He-Man was so... Fabulous!

There's at least a dozen more 'strange music videos' that come to mind but not many that are all-ages appropriate.  If you insist on seeing them, best to send me a message.

Man, all of Die Antwoord's videos make me kinda uneasy... <3 The Ponponpon videos though XD  And I've gotta back CraftyMatt up on the Pink Floyd video.  The Wall is a great visual art performance, and definitely worth a watch if you've not seen it before.  Best enjoyed in a dark room on a big screen - it'll really draw you in.

/party -> Party chat allows to you communicate with your 'family' without everyone having to simultaneously facepalm each time you announce in general chat that you need a mommy.  I mean, roleplaying *IS* in the tags for Noobstown on the Planet Minecraft listing, and it's not really a big deal, but party chat would help prevent more than a few /ignores.

New? / Re: older than average
« on: 30 Mar 2013, 15:31:50 »
Welcome!  Though it's true that a majority of Minecraft players are younger, the more important 'average' here is that we have a very welcoming and helpful community.  There is certainly a learning curve for getting the hang of things, between all of the chat window commands and the way all of the server plugins work, so don't be afraid to ask.  There's always somebody willing and able to help, either in game, or here on the forums.  For a head start, check out some of the treads at http://www.noobscraft.com/guides/ - there's enough information there to get you familiar with many of the unique aspects of the server.

I had the privilege of growing up in the golden era, back when MTV used to play music videos.

Now, how do you get Aeva to auto-embed a youtube link?

Noobstown General / Re: What are your plans for V6?
« on: 25 Mar 2013, 18:10:05 »
In lieu of a world save, if someone could put together a nice hi-res image of the world map, or even to run the world file through something like MinecraftWorldMap, that'd be neat to see.  Maybe even marker pins to flag the different town spawns?  I don't know how feasible something like that would be, but I've spent quite a bit of time just panning around the live map and trying to identify the towns from above.

I plan to start V6 much like I started out in V5 - Alone, confused, and living out of my inventory in the mining world for a while.  Once I get my feet under me, I'll wander to the borders of the wilderness map, find a tiny little island to call home, start a farm, load up some chests, and then go fishing!

On second thought, this time around I should probably join a town sooner, and work towards establishing some town farms and outpost.  A mark of a great town is the resources it makes available to its residents, and I'm thankful to have spent V5 in Dragonfire where anything you could want was only an /outpost away.

I believe this was levels gotten from actually playing minecraft, not sitting in your farm harvesting rows, and rows, and more rows of sugar cane, just to level up your skills to look like the cool guy.

Hey now, I didn't harvest rows and rows and rows of sugar cane to look like the cool guy - I did it for the money.  So I could buy stacks and stacks of diamond blocks, diamond ore, and a stack of spawners and look like the cool guy.  That, and to pump hundreds of thousands of noobz into the town bank to put Dragonfire ahead of Flintwood :p

I too have mixed feelings about change, particularly changes that mean leaving behind my power level and vast riches.  I'll say that in my 10 months playing V5, I've had a great time scrambling to make it on various top 10 lists for MCMMO stats, MCMMO overall, time online, richest players, and wealthiest towns.  I'd never played on a multiplayer server prior to Noobstown, and having been here exclusively thus far, I think it's safe to say I'll be here 'til the end.

I'll agree that the level of grief is getting pretty hard to deal with, particularly now that I've got an enormous town in the back yard of my wilderness hideout.  With the current system and rate of new member registrations, V5 just doesn't seem sustainable.  The server is growing at an incredible rate, and some manner of change is going to be necessary in order to put things back in balance.

Are the proposed plans for V6 the solution to all of Noobstown's problems?  I don't know.  But at the end of the day, the fact remains: The administrative staff has done a pretty amazing job over the past two years, or we all wouldn't still be here.  I've no reason to believe that, come a year from now at the 3rd birthday party, anyone will look back with regret for this change.

So long, V5!  It's been fun!

I, too, am having the same issue. Good ping to server, but after a long pause of "Logging in...", I get "Disconnected by Server, Took too long to log in".  I've tried several times over the past ~10 minutes with no avail.

Bumping this thread with a creature I encountered whilst harvesting sugar cane: The cutest little slime ever!

But wait, he looks familiar...  It's Dopefish!  Neat little surprise when I tried Misa's 64x Realistic texture pack  :D
