Information: This "Presents a Wreath Snow Globe" (titled "Presents a Wreath Snow Globe" because it is a snow globe with presents and a wreath) once stood on the fireplace of the great giant Mavlock who stood 11 feet tall, making him the shortest giant in the land. It is said one Christmas eve night he shook this snow globe and made a wish. He wished to grow taller. No one ever seen him after that, but some say his wish came true and he grew so big that the Overworld actually sits on the knuckle of his left thumb.

Server Announcements / Re: Server Rules Update
« on: 18 Jul 2014, 03:02:39 »
Hi there Noobstown

I had a slight concern about the clarity in section e in the updated rules.  This pertains to swearing.  I have taken a direct quote for the new rules post. It is:

Profanity is strictly banned, we have a language filter to block out any swearing; however trying to     bypass this filter, by either substituting letters/words or using abbreviations (and so forth) is also against the rules.

I have highlighted the word "words" because this is the source of my topic.  I completely understand swearing to be unacceptable.  I also understand abbreviations and such are unacceptable (replacing letters and other forms).  However replacing a non-swear word for a swear word is not swearing.  The act of swearing is to deliberately communicate a specific word to express one's emotion, but the main idea is a specific word.  I do not believe using the word "strawberry" in the place of a 4 letter swear word to be bad.  Infact it is a mechanism often used to cure little ones of a potty-mouth.

Having said this, I may have taken section e in the rules out of context.  It just did not seem totally clear to me.  I also want to add that I comply with and understand the final ruling on this matter is that of the staff (not trying to step on any toes).  I also understand that some of these rules may be situational. For the most part, I am simply voicing my concern.

The number 6
[/b]

Several weeks past without word or return from the witch messenger, Eeyendar.  The changes in the Overworld were hidden to no one.  Every mob on land and sea knew that dark times would come to pass.  Witches were now fighting the spiders for control of the mines, but some spiders became accustom to there poison potions.  The hordes of zombies that would attack the villages got bigger.  It was just like before, when the giants once roamed the Overworld.  Talk of the Wither king traveled for villages, to swamps, to towns.  It seemed there was nowhere safe, even if a portal was far away.

While all this was happening in the Overworld, the Nether was becoming greatly populated with mobs of its own kind.  Skeletons taken from the Overworld were made into soldiers for the Wither king's army.  Witch children were made into blazes and began the construction of large fortresses.  Slimes that fallowed fell into lava and emerged as magma cubes.  All these, in addition to the villagers that would loose there lives in the Nether and thus become soul sand.  The Nether was growing, and everything in it affected the Nether itself.  The Wither king was not excluded from this notion.

For a third time the Wither king would travel through the portal that would lead him back to the place of his reincarnation, the fields of Windermere.  Yet he would vow to return this final time.  As the Wither king entered the Overworld he fell a surge of energy loss.  He fell off his steed and onto the ground riffled amongst the bones of witches he once slew.  He staggered to his knees huffing as if he had breath to breathe out.  He clinched his bone skeletal frame where his heart would be.  The Wither king gathered a few bones from the ground and placed them in a ditch where he drew a circle.  He called forth his steed and removed 6 pieces of Netherack and a skull from the satchel upon his Wither.  Then he stood up, and with all his might he summoned chains from the Nether through the portal and wrapped them around the bones in the ditch.  In his dark chilling voice he said " now... rise for you grave".  All at once the fragments in the ditch began to rise and glow a bright red.  The fragments formed a body, but the spell was not yet complete and the Wither king was exhausted.  The drained Wither king ripped off his cloak and threw it onto the floating body.  Suddenly a bolt of lighting struck the floating body and with a flash of light, the Wither king and his steed flew back.  The chains broke and there stood a man on one knee blanketed by the Wither king's cowl.  The spell was complete.  The Wither king got up and stood in front of the summoned man.  " You will serve me here in the Overworld, where the Nether is not", said the Wither king.  " You will resurrect me from the depths of the void, should I fall.  That is your purpose.  Now rise and become the 6 edges of darkness."  As the Wither king mounted his wither the man asked, " what shall I be called my king? "  The Wither king pointed his sword  torwards the man and said " you shall be my Hexidecima "

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Death in mining world
« on: 11 Jul 2014, 01:54:46 »
if this should happen there are somethings you can do.

First, don't focus on trying to escape, instead focus on typing /wild chunks home, as this will save from suffocation.
Second, you can activate your superbreaker skill and dig up.  If you act immediately you can break almost any block fast enough, even without a pick.
Third, you think you will not make it, hit f3 and take down your location (XYZ). in this situation the you make loose your levels but most likely can Regen your items but going back to that location.
Fourth, usually if you check the website before you log in, you can get a heads up if the mining world reset already.

These solutions are not full proof but they certainly can help.

These are the things I believe are disabled:

golems, fire (admin only), breaking blocks via explosion (explosions can still cause damage to all mobs), TNT (except when fished out of water), creating obsidian from redstone dust

In addition there are some things that are still bugged.  I'm certain the staff is working on these issues if they have not already been deemed un-fixable.

Fate of the Witch

It had only been a few weeks since the appearance of the first portal, and since then dozens more appeared.  Every time the Wither king moved from the Overworld to the Nether, from the Nether to the Overworld, it created two more portals.  This made the witches of the murky swamps very nervous.  So it was decided that the witches would call forth The Gathering of the Alchemists.

The Gathering of the Alchemists was a meeting held by witches all across the Overworld.  It was only called forth when there existence was threatened.  To the witches, the Wither king's presence  threatened everyone's existence.  The first order of business was to unleash the viscus lifeforms that protected the swamp lands; witch hounds called slimes.  They would help fortify witch huts and mineshafts.  Next on the order's agenda was they  order of marshal law that no witch may practice unauthorized brewing.  Many witches believed that it was dangerous brewing that brought about the conflict, and so this law was put into affect.  The final order of business was to arrange a meeting with the dreaded Wither king in attempts to form a peace treaty.  The idea was to give the witches time to assemble an army in preparation for a possible assault by the Wither king on the Overworld.  While many witches proclaimed this to be the best solution, no witch would volunteer to be the messenger.  Over the next three days a collection of names among the various witch tribes were taken. It was decided that a young witch named E'yendar (ee-yen-dar) would deliver the message.  Her family was outraged, but the order's decision was final.  The fallowing morning E'yendar and a small group of battle witches went to the windy fields where the first portal was opened.  They set up camp with the intentions of going through the portal the next day, but little did they know that the Wither king had plans of his own. In that moment the Wither king called forth his steed and flew into the portal that would bring him back to the place of his resurrection; the windy fields of Windermere.

As the Overworld shifted from day to night, the battle witches started a cauldron for insta-health potions.  The air was clear, the stars were out, the moon high, and the portal grew a dark empty purple.  The young E'yendar stood frozen, gazing at the portal.  The bottle in her right hand slipped from her fingers and smashed into the course dirt.  The sound of the bottle shattering caught the attention of the battles witches. The vacant stare of E'yendar then caught their eyes, and finally they saw what she was staring at.  Before them stood a darkness with the head of a crowned skull and a three-headed monstrosity.  One battle witch drew a poison potion from the left side of his tunic.  E'yendar yelped "stop!" but then the rumbling of a voice arose in the atmosphere.  "I know why you are here. There will be no treaty.  There will be no peace, and your lives will not be spared."  The battle witch ****ed his arm back and before he could toss the poison potion the Wither king vanished off his steed in a black cloud. The Wither king reappeared with his sword through the belly of the battle witch.  The other battles witches met a similar fate all within a matter of 6 ticks (0.48 seconds).  The Wither king then stood in front of the still frozen E'yendar.  She looked into his hallow eyes and said " you will never rule anything by yourself ."  The Wither king brought himself face to face with the young E'yendar.  He said " you posses such fire in your eyes.  Your words are true.  I cannot rule this world without the likes of you.  Perhaps you will join me."  Then suddenly he plunged the tip of his blade into the heart of the young witch.  Fire burst out from the sword and engulfed E'yendar.  She fell to the ground, but the flames grew higher. She tried to cry out, but all that came out was " bwe, bwe, bweoo".  The Wither king snickered and said " yes, your eyes burn with fire. Now they are...Blazing."

Towns & Nations / Re: Windermere Staff Application
« on: 24 Jun 2014, 12:59:49 »
IGN: Hexidecima
Age: 32

Location: Illinois, USA

How often are you on the server: Almost everyday

Past Experience: Unfortunately I don't have a lot of experience, just the time that I have been on the server (about 2-3 weeks) and the time that I've spent actually playing minecraft (2 years).

Why do you want to be staff for Windermere: Because Windermere is my home.  To be honest that is truly the only reason anyone should need.  I want the town I live in to reflect the way I feel about it, physically, socially, and aesthetically.  Fortunately for me I have the skills to accomplish such a goal.  Windermere may not be for everyone (which is why there is an application process), but it is for me (which is why I live there lol).

How long have you been on Noobscraft: For about 2-3 weeks, maybe a month.

Other: I will be sure to keep my finger crossed ;)

When Pigs Cry

"Bacon, Bacon where are you buddy?"  These are the cries of an unfortunate villager whose lost his beloved pet pig, Bacon.  He searches the village high and low, from sun up to sun down.  Still he cannot find his beloved pig.  As he walks to his tiny hut he hears a feint cry in the distance. The sounds of squealing fills him with emotion.  Suddenly he bolts to his hut, grabs a sword, and runs toward the squealing in the nearby fields. His fears have now become his reality as he witnesses his beloved pig surrounded by mouth foaming zombies.  One by one he hacks and slashes the mindless zombies among them.  Suddenly he notices a purple glow reflecting like a beam of light off his sword.  He turns to see the purple light is a cloud of some sort.  It is alluring, and yet something doesn't feel right about it.  The villager turns his attention to his beloved Bacon, who is barreling towards the purple glow, trying to elude the zombie that fallows.  Then, unexpectedly as the zombie and Bacon reach the purple glow, they both instantly vanish.  The villager hesitates, but only for a second.  He then charges toward the purple glow, unaware of the dangers ahead.
Instantly he is surrounded by darkness.  Shorty after, his vision begins to unravel, revealing the dreaded pits of this dark abyss.  A blood curtling squeal ripples through the magical fabric of the nether air.  The villager scans the area and finds his beloved Bacon and part of the zombie in the lava splashing about.  He runs toward them with all his might. If there was ever a chance that Bacon would live he'd have to be saved now.  The intense heat blurred his vision, but the villager could still see Bacon and the zombie trying desperately to escape the lava. To his surprise, both the zombie and Bacon crawled onto the spongy red rocks that infested the realm they lie in.  The villager became over come with joy and confusion as he nearly approaches them.  If his beloved pig had survived the burning lava then surely he was meant to live.  Now the only thing left to do was to slay the very zombie whom had been the cause of this mess.  Just as the villager stood in front of them both, he plunged his sword into the cursed zombie.  To the villagers dismay the zombie let out a whaling squeal.  " zombies don't squeal", he thought to himself.  Had he stabbed his beloved pig?  The villager pulled his sword out of the zombie, and as it rolled over, his sight became clear.  His beloved pig Bacon, had melted and fused with the retched zombie.  The villager stood paralyzed, questioning if what he had saw was actually true.  It was no longer his beloved pig and a zombie, but rather some sort of zombie-pig-man.  As the villager laid in shock, the zombie pig stood up, face to face with him.  It let out another high pitch squeal, grabbed the sword from the villager, and drove it though his chest.  As the villager plummeted to his knees he saw a multitude of pigs with zombies trailing behind, coming from the purple glow that brought him here.  In that moment the villager finally understood all of what was happening and began to envision all of what was to come.  As his life force begins to fade and his body turn to sand, he sees the rider on a three-headed beast create another spectacle of purple light, and disappears through it.

Finally I found a server I really like and now this happens. I guess the question I should be asking is "what can I do to help in some way?" Donations are a way of keep a good thing around, in a world where everything is about money.  Unfortunately not everyone has the ability to donate, even if they truely want to.I hope all goes well, and I plan on riding this server till the cows come home. I wonder if there was a way to get spondsered.  I would not mind dealing with a couple adds every now and then if it means I can keep my home in Noobstown. My opinion may not be sound but my intentions to protect my (server) home are.

The Wither King

Long ago, in a time where the Overworld was ruled by the creatures of the land, 3 aspiring witches sought to reach another dimension.  They searched every text of the witches art they could find that would tell them the secrets to opening a portal to another dimension.  They only found stories with minor information, but nothing ever substantial.  Despite the failed efforts of their ancestors they would try to recreate the brew that would send them into the void so that they may arrive in paradise.  The 3 witches gathered a list of items to fulfill the magic. One of the witches thought that perhaps the murky swamp air was to dense to complete the deed, so they traveled the Overworld. When they finally reach a flat open field they decided to begin their brew.
It was on this dark and clear night that they would bring about a fate they could have not possibly forseen.  With 1 fermented spider eye, 2 iron ingots, a skeleton skull, and an old broken wand; they brewed a ghastly brew. A great smoke rose up from the cauldron like a geyser from the ground and out came the skeletal beast that only tales spoke of.  His body glistened almost invisible.  His face was a skull with a crown a top his head and he wielded a large iron sword.  The witches were amazed but also very frightened. They tried to flee, but to no avail. The great skeletal beast hissed at them and turned them into an unusual sand. He then took the sand and crafted a 3 headed beast.  He planted a saddle on it's back and said to it in a cold dark voice " you are now my noble steed. I am the Wither King and you are my Wither".  Then he summoned a portal to a dark and grueling place.  He mounted his steed and entered the portal to the place he called the Nether.

Suggestions & Ideas / Re: Party Chat Text Change
« on: 11 Jun 2014, 16:37:21 »
Hi

I regards to the party chat, has anyone considered orange? I'm new to Noobstown so I'm not sure if it already exists. However, it is a text color I have not yet seen and it is a clear separation from most of the colors already used. Since yellow is local chat (which is kinda like a party chat) and red is for errors (which will grab the attention of any who make there own error) I think orange will suffice quit well. Just my opinion.

Wow, sounds like this is gonna be a blast. I've never seen any of these events, and with all the posts about it is sounds like something to get involved in. So I think i will, just hope there will be an explanation for us new guys (as I'm sure there probably will).

Server Announcements / Re: Username Changing - Minecraft 1.8
« on: 28 May 2014, 01:30:36 »
I don't understand what the big deal is. If you started with a username and have accomplished something with that name (good or bad) then why not keep it; it is your legacy. I'm sure there are some circumstances that drive one to change their username but what your name is are on the server (ill named or not) does not defined who you are. It is what you do that defines you. O.K. , so maybe that is a little to deep for most, but I happen to believe that everyone contributes a little bit of there psyche to everything they do; be it a trival blocky game or a source of living. What I'm saying is, embrace your title because the reality is that, despite it is a name for a fantasy world, there is a true story as to how you came to create that name. It could have been a miss-type, or something you were goofing off with, never-the-less the tale is real.

If you believe that I have wandered way off subject or got to serious about this topic, then please please please forgive me. I have been up for 34 hours and I just wanted to contribute to the conversation (lol). Hope everyone has an awesome time in Noobstown, konnichiwa (good day) people.
