Quick update: The Mining World, Nether & End worlds have been reset for August now!
  • /warp mining
  • /warp nether
  • /warp end
As with last month the End world is slowly expanding to allow people to find new structures throughout the month!

Towns can now control whether or not passive animals are able to spawn, in both a town-wide setting and a plot-by-plot level (with plots able to override the town setting). It works in a similar way to the mob spawning setting but for animals instead.

By default animal spawning in towns is still on, but to turn it off, as a member of senior town staff simply use /town set animals off, and then /town set animals on to turn them back on again.

By default in the individual plots they are set to use the town setting, but this can be overridden using /plot set animals off and /plot set animals on, plus to set the plot back to use the town setting use /plot set animals reset.

This is only a small change, but it's something that has been brought up on a few occasions! If you've got any questions or feedback just reply.

So, with the latest update, turns out you can push other players. Was killed by a friend (who's name isn't important for this) because they ported up right next to me on top of a block to look at something. I'm concerned this could be used for nefarious purposes, trolling, griefing. Is this a server side thing that could be adjusted, or a Mojang "feature"?
As sir_Andrew99876 said above, it's a feature that Mojang re-added to Minecraft as part of 1.9, it's therefore something we're going to try and support. I can understand your concern regarding the potential abuse of it, however there are already a number of ways you could damage people without being involved in PVP; killing or hurting people purposefully when they/you are not in PVP is not allowed.

As ParanoidLepton suggested I'd recommend sneaking while teleporting if you're unsure, or ensuring that the person you're teleporting to is in a place that would mean you could be pushed around a little without issues.

I was trying to buy a sheep (Lost 40k nbz so far) and I get the text but it is not in the /pet menu nd when I do /pet sheep it says I do not have permission. (tested with a creeper pet, creeper works fine in the same spot)
When did you try to buy the sheep pet? A fix for this problem was already put in place during the restart on the morning of the 20th, was it before then?

It should be sorted for your account now though, if you've got any further issues with it then just post an update.

...it'd be nice to be able to use shulker boxes outside of the mining world so how about something like the ability to place them and after a short period they will return to inventory if you don't own the land? equally you could just have a system where if you place them on private land anyone can edit and destroy them so they don't cause people problems?...
This is definitely an interesting idea and something I'd not even considered, definitely something I'll consider doing a variant of in the longer-term if there is a good reason for wanting it.

Is there a particular reason you'd like to be able to do this that couldn't be solved by simply giving another player the shulker box with the contents temporarily anyway or by using /auction or a chest shop?

...would be possible for villager eggs to be buyable from a server shop, these villagers wouldnt be able to trade but would just be there for visual purposes. It would really bring some life to some builds and I would love to use them...
The reason that you can't keep the villagers around is because of the way we currently use them, I don't want to cause potential confusion with the static villagers we've got in a few random locations with what might be your decorative ones.

Similarly because we use them for the trades/shops and as part of the quests they're actually set to never despawn server wide, so unlike all other mobs/animals they'll hopefully never disappear, something which obviously isn't great long-term for lag if everyone has their own little hoard of them.

...it would be nice to be able to cure the villager zombies (at least in the wild) to add more life...
This relates to the answer I've given above. It's specifically been designed so that hopefully you'll not be able to get any.



If there really is enough of a desire for them then I'd potentially be willing to make some big changes to the mob/animal despawning mechanics but for now it would be a lot of work in the short-term for minimal gain. But as things are gradually changed over time anyway this might change in the future anyway.

Server Announcements / Noobstown - 1.12!

As promised this is a post to let you all know that the server is now up-to-date with Minecraft 1.12! This means you get use of all of the update features from 1.9 through to 1.12.

You can see a list of the more known Minecraft changes on the MinecraftWiki:

I've also updated loads of the plugins we use on the server to include loads of new features that'll be able to see as you use them, this includes a new Pet menu (/pets) and pet system, updates to the Auction (/auction) (can sell high priced items now ;)), updates to the Wilderness, Towns and a range of other plugins too.
Plus we've got a brand new simplified spawn at /warp spawn produced by MagicMan27, with easy access to all of the different worlds you might need!

All of the features should be working as intended, but as always with updates if you find any issues please report them immediately so that I can sort them.

I hope you enjoy this update, it's been something we've worked towards for well over a year now, and has been as massive hurdle to reach.

To celebrate as promised the rest of the weekend will be 3x mcMMO XP, plus if you're online there might be some randomly timed giveaways and events to take advantage of the new features!

Im assuming despencers have lwc protections so wouldnt it be logical that the chest be locked to the despencer lwc owner because how else is it going to be placed if not by a despencer. Id assume the owner would have to put the shulker box into the despencer. Im not sure were understanding eachother.
I understand what you're saying, I somewhat misread your original message; that is a genius idea and is definitely something that can be done. I'll have a look into how possible it is before the update is since things are pretty much waiting to go and I wouldn't want to cause problems at this late stage, but either way eventually I don't see why it couldn't work like this.

Due to the way that LWC protects anything with a lock, to begin with it won't be possible to break them (if locked) with a piston in any world other than the Wilderness. This is a standard across all LWC locked blocks.

If you manually place them this is what will happen, they'll be locked to you; however because in Towns the land may not be owned by an individual player there isn't a simple way to work out who is doing the placing if it's being done by a dispenser. All locks in towns work differently; things are owned by the placer rather than the land owner, so if it's not placed by anyone to me it makes sense that it wouldn't be locked.

How will protections work on shulker boxes that are despencor placed?
In the Wilderness Shulker boxes that have been placed by a dispenser will automatically receive the default protections (normally owner and organisers only, plus any chunk perms etc.). In the Town world since this uses LWC they won't be protected if placed by a dispenser; but this is something that I might be able to work on in the future if wanted.

Command blocks and posing armour stands are not normal features that you have in survival vanilla, so no they're not going to be possible.

  • Yes, we will be using the default entity cramming setting. If there are issues as a result of this then I'm open to feedback once we've seen it in action.
  • The new animal types will hopefully be added as spawners eventually sure, I'm not sure if they'll come under the rare types which aren't listed under /spawners though. Plus due the potentially hostile nature of polar bears that is something I'll have to consider too. But eventually I don't see why not for the others.
  • They won't work no, just like how you can't use enderpearls around spawn.
  • Yeah observer blocks will work just fine. They should work in exactly the same way as normal :).
  • Unless there is some further weirdness with how the structures spawn, then they'll be limited to the mining world only. As for the border, it will initially be staying at 4,000 blocks in all directions from 0, 0, but if it turns out there aren't really any sensibly available within that range then I'll consider adjusting it for sure. The mansions themselves are considered pretty rare anyway though, so it's unlikely we'll get loads of them each month.

As above, they hopefully will be limited to the mining world only. We never intended for the guardian temples to spawn in the Wilderness world, so if they're not already there then they won't be added to the Town world. I won't be specifically adding them to any of our permanent worlds, but if the update itself causes them to generate then I won't stop it doing so.

UPDATE: The server update to 1.12 has begun, there will be updates posted once we're back!


As previously hinted; the update for Noobstown to go straight to 1.12 is very nearly ready! This is a announcement to let you all know that the server will be going down from 8pm BST this coming Friday (30th June) (what's that in my timezone?) and will be hopefully be back up in the early hours of Saturday 1st July with the 1.12 update live! There'll be a update post here once we're back including some of the changes on top of the Minecraft updates. Due to the uncertainty of updates I can't give an estimate of what time it might be done, but I'll work as fast as I can do; keep checking the site to find out!

Plus once we're back up on Saturday; then throughout the rest of the weekend it'll be triple mcMMO XP! Plus to help share out some of the new things I'll be running a few randomly timed events/giveaways for those of you online :).

This is a massive update of things, we've not be using the latest version of Minecraft for well over a year now, so this should be a great change for the better. To clear up a few questions I've heard here are a few commonly asked questions about the update:

Q: What version is the server updating to?
A: The server will be updating straight from 1.8 all the way to 1.12.

Q: When updated to 1.12 do I have to play on a 1.12 client or can I keep using 1.x?
A: You will have to play the server in a 1.12 once we update so be sure to update your client as soon as you can do.

Q: Are you introducing the 1.9 combat changes?
A: Yes, the cooldowns, etc. will be coming to the server.

Q: Are any of the new Minecraft features blocked like in previous updates?
A: Since I've had a long time to work towards the updates hopefully none of the new features should be blocked! There's loads of new features, they've obviously been adjusted into the protections in towns and the Wilderness but almost all of new the features should be possible. I'm open to hearing about anything which could be adjusted if it's not completely possible though.

Q: Are you allowing the use of the elytra (wings)?
A: Sure! You'll be able to use the elytra in the same way you could do in vanilla. They won't work around spawn and a few other areas, but on your own land or in towns they should work just fine!

Q: What's the plan for the End updates?
A: The border in the End will be dramatically increased to allow you to make use of the islands and End Cities. (Need a way to get the elytra :D) You'll also be able to respawn the dragon, etc. as normally possible in 1.12 vanilla.

Q: Will you be resetting the Mining World, Nether and End with the update?
A: Yes, along with the update I'll be resetting all of the temporary worlds to allow you to get the use of the latest 1.12 features :).

Q: What about shulker boxes?
A: In the Wilderness Shulker boxes will be protected just like any other unit. You'll be able to do all of the normal cool Minecraft things there, including the placing and breaking using redstone! In towns they'll be protected slightly differently; by LWC, again just like all of the chests, etc. in Towns already.

Hi I'm Jack and I was formerly known as 'TheSilverAssasin', I used to play back about 4 years ago in the late days of V5 and early days of V6. I've recently decided to give minecraft another go and my first stop was this server. I'm so glad to see that it still has the friendly caring community it had years ago. Anyway, I hope to see you all around!
Welcome back Jack! I remember your old name around :).

It's great to see you've come back to try things again, I hope to see you online again soon :).

If you ever need any help or need some of the changes which have occurred in the last 4 years :P (a long time so a lot has changed) just let me or almost any other player know and we'll try to help out.

Just a quick post to let you know that you can now connect to the server using the new Minecraft 1.12. Again we've not completely updated server things fully so you won't get access to the new server-side features just yet, but you can at least play on the server even if you've upgraded, and will get access to any client side changes :).

We will however be updating to the full update of 1.12 very soon hopefully, so keep an eye out for that :)!

One concern-where is the link to go to this page, besides this post? In a few weeks or so, this post will fall off the front page and a player would have to know about it to find it. I was going to suggest that the link be added under Community along with the Free Chunks link, but I noticed the Free chunks link is also missing. Could these two links be added to the Community Tab?
This was my plan :P, I have now added it to the 'Community' tab. The 'Free Wilderness Land' has been moved to be under 'You' on the right, since they're relating to you really :P.



Alternatively, add it to the server Tips messages in-game.  There's quite a few players who never look at the site after registering...
Great idea! I've now done this too. The plan longer term as I said above is to make a similar feature available in-game, but for now a tip sounds like a great idea.

Sorry for my delay in replying to this, I thought of what could be a super simple solution to this, and that it could easily be added to the site. :P

Refer to the release post at https://www.noobscraft.com/site/server-chest-shops-search/. Plus you can now see and use the new simple feature at https://www.noobscraft.com/shops.

If this doesn't solve your issue or you think it's not quite suitable I'd love to hear of ways that things could be improved in that area.

Leading on from a suggestion made a few weeks ago about a lack of the options to find what shops exist on the server, I've added a quick and hopefully simple new feature to the site to try and improve this. It'll come to server too once I get chance if it's something that people like and find useful.

Simply by visiting https://www.noobscraft.com/shops and searching for any item in the game* you should be able to see a list of all active players' chest shops set up to both sell and buy that item on Noobstown. Using those prices it'll also give you a rough guide for the general average price of that item (ignoring the fact that some of the chests might sell unique items/enchants, etc.) and a colour coding system showing how you could potentially sneakily make some money just by buying and selling between other players.

It should hopefully be simple to use, but I'm open to any feedback, if it's something you don't particularly like the idea of, or something you'll find really useful I'd love to hear.



In other potentially exciting news the update of Noobstown to Minecraft 1.11.2/1.12 is really not far off now, so keep an eye out for that over the next few weeks ;).

I wish that we could sell seeds on the /shop. It we great, because then I can finally get rid of all of the excess seeds I have...
Seeds have now been added to /shop under the Farming section. If you think there should be an adjustment to the price then let me know :).

I'll definitely consider eggs, but my concern with them is that you can in theory infinitely farm eggs in a tiny space extremely quickly. Just by putting a large number of chickens on top of a hopper. Compared to seeds which are much more of a pain to get.

How much would you have thought eggs should be sold for?
