You da man Fred. Answer is ~50 km (50.49). See the attachment for the calulations.

Max
Only thanks to Mac's starting calculations! Even just reading other people's ideas on a certain problem seems like accomplishing half the work already. Exploring possibilities, eliminating things that won't work. all this sounds like mumbo jumbo to me.
Hehe that's why I try to slip in a few supposed jokes/funny references here and there; make it a little bit more interesting to most of everyone. Like this Vi Hart video when she's bored in math class. (Dedicated to CloudSong mayor MasterSquiggle) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ik2CZqsAw28#

A machete. The AK might run out of bullets. For a blade, all I need is some flint to sharpen it. (Staying optimistic that I'll survive the "last resort" attempt)
Here's one from an old teen TV show (+500 respect points if you recognize it) Would you rather lick peanut butter off a hobo's foot, or be stuck in a cage with a crazy tiger for a week?

Added Dillimore to the map. It's a pretty neat, growing town. Reminder: The very first post of this thread is always up to date with the latest World Map version. (That way, you don't have to go all the way to the latest post in page 512 of this thread xD). I've also changed the 7th post into a changelog. ...Is there an official word that means "Bleach fan," much like "Trekkies," etc.?... you may call us Bleachers, Bleachaholics, Bleachfans, Bleachshippers or Bleachaddicts... but my favorite is bleachers XD
:o So we're one of these...? xD ShinSekai does mean "New World"... ...so eventually i got the name from an Anime and what am i talking about ? ihafdusajhd bla! It's a whole new world, A new fantastic point of view...
Lol. There's an Aladdin character in OP (he's a merman). And since Luffy is a Monky... ...but i chose it because in the popular Anime called "One Piece"... Aaa! I remember you explaining that to me one time. Slipped right out of my head. (To make up for it, I made that new doorbell in the tune of the first One Piece ending theme in my ShinSekai house) Flintwood actually comes from a medieval town in this story I read a few years back, I never really get why I choice to use the name, cause it is kinda random, but I felt that it would fit in very good cause both "Flint" and "Wood" is a thing in Minecraft, it is also a pretty sweet name for a town
And that is a quick description of how and why I choice Flintwood as a name for my town :p
Yay Flintwood! So that's where it came from. (Read ben501's praise of Flintwood here). Long live Phoenixia!!

Right on. *Bro fist* I actually got the question (and answer) from watching VSauce, but the dude didn't explain how. So I asked myself, "How did he...??", put on my philosiraptor face, and came up with this. C=2*pi*r Rearranging: r = C / (2*pi) If r and C have the same units, then add 6 to C and rearrange: r = (C+6) / (2*pi) = C/(2*pi) + 6/(2*pi) The radius increases by 6/(2*pi) using any unit, for any circle of radius r. If we said pi is about 3, then 2*pi is 6, the radius increases by about 1. Oh, and Tada, math! ...reminded me of--- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aa8U0nL-KXg#ws

The point from the center of the circle to the point the tangent "hits" the earth...
...I'll round that to 25259 meters...
But.. but.. That would just be half the distance, right? From one of the towers, to the point where the line of sight "hits" the earth. So, double that, and we get about 50 km straight-line distance from the top of the towers. We might have to pull some trig stuff to get the surface distance though. (Arc length stuff: s = r*theta). This center angle, "theta," (*does quotation gesture with hands*), can be found in more than one way. It's twice the smallest angle in the triangle Mac used, so it's 2*arccos(6380.05 / 6380). Then multiply that by the radius and that'll be the ground distance between the two towers.

Ok, assuming light bulbs work in this make believe situation like they do in real life I know 3 things.
1. When the right switch is hit the bulb turns on. 2. When a light is on, it gets hot. 3. When it doesn't go on it stays room temperature or cool. Therefore, just like before, three equations and three unknowns. This riddle is solvable.
Based upon this, I don't think I need to go any further, as i understand what I need to do. I'll leave the sequencing procedure for the switches to another person to chime in on.
That's my two cents!

Max
If you've never seen the riddle, good job! If you have, good job for not spoiling it for someone else, but giving a hint!
Aaaa!!! (lightbulb emoticon here; no pun intended) I see it now. When a light is on, it gets hot over time. Thanks Max! I'm inclined to leave it at that, hehe. My initial ideas were: 1) impossibru!! 2) have someone or something turn a certain switch on after you get inside the room 3) do /sethome inside the room, starve and re-spawn

The area of Triangle ABC...
...a=7.8, b=10.4, c= (you have to figure c out)...
But wait! With just two of the sides given, and no other assumptions, we can't find out what c is Maybe we have the wrong triangle. ...unless-- Is ABC a right triangle?

Just this past weekend I was tempted to get VIP to take advantage of ...the double XP deal. But then that would just give me more excuses for me to play longer than I need to. It was tough, to ultimately abstain (for now). But it had to be done.
It'll be for the best in the end. Everyone grows older, but maturity has a price. (B 9000.01:S 0) Lol... All the best, Minkzy!

Shifting gears here a little... we turn the spotlight to the names of the towns on the World Map. I found myself going over some of the names of towns in my head while I was reading my Accounting book, then the thought occurred to me... What does that name even mean?? And so I embarked on a little Googly research escapade on a quest to answer the question... "What does it mean?!?!" So, I picked a few towns here and there, and in no particular order, here are the results. Aponivi is a Native American name. It is also a town in Arizona, where the Hopi people live. According to Googled sources, Aponivi means "where the wind blows down the gap." I really wish I knew the cultural context though. Does the "gap" refer to a break in the mountain ranges? Or a gap on the top of their shields where they can see the enemy while the wind rushes by? Hmm. At any rate, ask the town's mayor, EliteMustangGT, for more details. I finally made the connection: the mustang is a free-roaming horse that Native Americans bred back in the day. It's his theme, so go ask him ShinSekai means "new world" in Japanese. Ask the mayor--my little bro--xXAnimeOXx, for more details on why he chose that name. I first heard the name Tortuga off of those Jack Sparrow movies. But it turns out, it's an actual place in Haiti--a beautiful resort/beach town. The name means "tortoise." As mayor of the town formerly called HeavenDawn, UnlikelyPirate enacted the name change. It's his theme. Read The Cap's story here. Karakura town! (Literally, "empty seat town"). Back when /tc and /nc still worked, Tortugan TA XXZEPHARXX (Zephy) held the title "EspadaNo4" so I knew right then that he was a Bleach fan. (A.D.D. question: Is there an official word that means "Bleach fan," much like "Trekkies," etc.?) So when he decided to build his own town, it was thus named. That's the Fred version of it. If you catch him online, pay him a visit! Or rather... the /town spawn karakura. I believe one of the admins owned/still owns a plot there. Glasgow, formerly Buckfast_Abby, is BuckieUK09's pride and joy. One can infer that he is a native of Scotland. Read his story by clicking here. Wikipedia states that the origin of the word Glasgow meant "green hollow" in Gaelic. Some time around when Cairo just became an official town, I bought some beacons from a guy named flamez900. But behold! I got tp'd into a nice sand/sandstone pyramid, with beacons and stuff, close to a desert. And I look around and see this guy who is dressed like a Pharaoh. Flamez is the mayor of Cairo. Pay a visit and see this wonderfully themed town! I just assumed that fish played Fable a lot. ...Or is it because he was wandering around Noobstown and saw this level plain filled with oak trees, while mountains towered in the distance? Idk lol. The founder, fish_james, created a forum thread about a large project. A lot of people helped. That eventually became the town of Oakvale. Gallifrey means "they that walk in the shadows." For those who are not familiar with the show, Gallifrey is the home planet of The Doctor. I'll stop there, because I confess that myself am not too familiar with the show And now for some Noobstown history. KochiraKoso was a town built waaaay back by lindatjuh. In Japanese, it means (roughly) "I could say the same thing." or "Same here." Geo's town, Entrolla, was one of the first towns established in the early days of Noobstown. All I can get from Google is that Entrolla is possibly a surname native to Italy. Ask Geoboy66 if by chance you see him on. You can read more about the historical town here. DiamondCreekNothing much here. In my research, I found out that a town from waaay back was also named DiamondCreek. Just something interesting. ----- I know I missed some great town names out there, so I may do a Part II. Nevertheless, you're always welcome to tell about how your town got its name. And finally, if you haven't already noticed, I've redirected you a few times to a thread that fish started called " What's Your Noobstown Story?". Check it out and share your own story.

Just walk a little further. There's a certain radius of blocks (200 blocks?) from the spawn that is protected (for aesthetic purposes). This is the same at the Mine World.
And... Welcome to the Noobstown community! Make friends and stay away from lava lol. You'll find there's all sorts of minecrafters here from all around the world.

The Noobstown spawn actually changes occasionally. Like for the Christmas holidays it was all snowy and there was a huge tree with presents underneath. For Hallowe'en there were pumpkins and scary things. And when there were new features, such as emerald trading, or pistons, these were also reflected in the spawn area. If you are talking about changing the whole spawn, ...then that would be a rather massive undertaking. But a valid suggestion indeed!
The spawns in each town can be made new, you just have to speak with the mayor of the town, or perhaps their head architect. Over time, I've seen towns redecorate their spawns, and even moved it to more convenient places. Town staffers consider changing their spawn in order to attract more residents to their town (just as you have implied: new spawn=more people).
...restarting the world? Now that's ...for a different topic.

Bacon. Because you can put it on ice cream (or rub it on anything) and it's all still good. A cup of yogurt, or a peanut butter sandwich?

New update: Since the image is now larger, it may not fit in the forum frame when clicked, but you can open it in a new tab, or right click and choose "View Image." Update Notes v3.5 (2/28/2013) - Font/color changes
- Image is now larger
- Added town Rockwood (also added it to Phoenixia)
- Renamed town SaiyanIsland to HawaiiIsland
- Renamed town DiamondCreek to Aponivi
- Moved town Mapleforge from Scotland to Yunaiteddo
- Updated map directory
Oh, and... Could my town (Dillimore) get added please.
I've added Dillimore in the spreadsheet, but because it is not a public town, I wasn't able to get its coordinates. You can send them to me in a /mail or forum message. (further rambling to myself) I usually don't bother asking around for non-public town coordinates; and if your town is currently non-public and you want it off the map (for the sake of privacy, or if it's under renovation, etc), inform me and I'll take it off the map. On the other hand though, the purpose of this map is to find out which places in the world are occupied, so that aspiring new town owners can pick a relatively uncrowded spot.

Here are my top 5 newbie noob moments in MC. 5. The first time I went to a chest shop, not knowing how to buy/sell---I tried to open a chest shop's chest. 4. After hearing about the Repair skill for the first time, I tried to do single-player repair by putting 2 of the same tools in my inventory. "Why won't my Repair skill lv up?!" 3. Repairing a Sharpness I iron axe in MineApoc on an iron block instead of an anvil, when there's plenty of mobs to get XP from and anvils had infinite use. It was a present too 2. While exploring a survival single-player world, I saw an exposed ravine far from home. And there was a cow close to it. I tried to push the cow into the ravine without hitting it. I succeeded, then I fell along with the cow for not knowing how to use crouch/sneak. 1. During my first hour in Noobstown, I typed "/home set" instead of "/sethome" after searching for 30 minutes and finally finding a good jungle spot to call home. Which brought me back to the spawn. ...of the Mining World.

Yay! Thanks Mac! For the longest time I thought jungle gave the most xp. And for the 2x2 Jungle method, if you already set up a Haste beacon, changing it to Speed might be helpful.
