Ooo nice. We were a rookie team when I joined last year, where I helped out with programming. But the main guys moved to MN and there wasn't much interest among the students so, no team this year.

Team 1094. Sounds like you guys are pretty established! (Funny how only those familiar with FRC can surmise that based on the number). Although, new or old, it's neat how every team has an equal opportunity and they even help other teams during the big competition. First Robotics also has lots of aspects besides just building the robot-- there's the marketing/community aspect, etc, so it's a well-rounded program.

Good luck on the Chairman's Award! Have you signed Woodie Flowers's shirt? ;)

Heya! I was actually a mentor last year :) Man those were some stressful weeks, but when the big day came around, it was mind-blowing fun. I take it you're part of a team?

Counting down:

5. Least of the top 5, build a house. I've played with a few designs...

4. Hang out at Max's during breaks

3. Help out other people building towns, in some capacity

2. Earn money for the town and help with town builds

1. Establish wildy base with the Tortuga crew

Ohh and,
4.  Do something large and not necessary - I will try and attempt to make the largest tree on the server. That is, if I don't fall to my death first....

Reminds me of nole's jungle tree plot!

Post your stories and/or screenies of Noobmases of old! :D

Last year was my first Noobmas, and I particularly remember carving out a wide underground area for a steve statue in the middle of the ocean, at coordinates x:1225, z:2012 (or thereabouts). And several shenanigans with Anime and other friends.

You all are so depressing me.  It is absolutely HORRIBLE hot and completely lousy here.  It has been in the 80's for the past week...ugh!  It's 9:47 at NIGHT and I still have the A/C on.  I hate this place!!!!!

Max
I'd give this a like if this were facebook hehe. Although, I can relate, having lived in parts of the world closer to the equator. Those nights when you just grab anything flat and turn it into a manual fan.

Not much snow here as well, but the ice just lingers. 3-4 days of closings-- schools, churches, businesses. (Wanted to go out and get some supplies for my irl minecraft project)

I currently find this to be the most time-consuming, least exciting ingredient of a maxed out enchantment library.

2 blaze rods
One for the brewing stand, one for the first 24 minutes of blaze farming.

Either a Looting III book, or a revealed Map showing a Mesa biome
Just because.

Has anyone gone to see Enders Game yet?  The book was very good.
My brother went the other night and really liked it
I've watched Ender's Game this past weekend without having watched the trailer before. Really good plot. Without having read the book, I cannot say anything further.

I have also watched the space suspense movie Gravity in the past week. Also good. I still wonder if tears stick on your face when you cry in space, or if they would float dramatically toward the camera. I did confirm that when it's almost sunrise in the Sinai Peninsula, it's right about 8 pm in Illinois.

We are not customers, even those of us who donate. If we were customers, "donating" would not be called "donating".
Man, this nails it. Even the word "supporter" carries the idea of helping out and not necessarily expecting things back. If we were customers, we'd be "purchasing."

To add to other things to do while waiting for V6:
- Find inspiration from YouTubers for your V6 builds. (I was tempted to say "inspiration, inspiration, inspiration")
- Check out the new features when 1.7 comes out so you'd be all set for V6, if you haven't tried the snapshots
- ...Talk to a real life person! xD

When prototyping in creative, make sure to accommodate for a bit of server lag if working on things that need accurate timing (like music boxes or some timed games).

« on: 20 Oct 2013, 19:44:19 »
Posted mine in my siggy. I've taken on the Ace of Spades skin, to mean one's best quality (much like the idiom "ace up one's sleeve"), and also so that Burai-dono can still call me Ace (as in, One Piece Ace). But in myth/folklore, the Ace of Spades is known as the "death card" and I made some alterations accordingly... The symbol in blood red at the back is Japanese for "death." Then there's two daggers...

Is it too suggestive?

« on: 18 Oct 2013, 19:14:08 »
1. the increase of forum games is necessary. if we have nothing to do. we will prob all ragequit noobstown before v6 comes.

2. no. forum games dont need rules. putting rules on games for fun is the start of EVIL.

3. no i am not concerned. what does 'vermillion of post counts' mean?

1. Im pretty sure you can just go play another game or something instead of spamming 1 2 3 ect

2. Personally i think there needs to be some rules to stop the excess spam
Yupp. Oh, and ...

3. "Vermillion" is a color/dye made from ...eh, poisonous stuff xD "Gajillion" or "Bazillion" would work, or for a more flowery vocab, "myriad" or "bombardment."

« on: 23 Sep 2013, 17:32:44 »
I don't mean to spoil anyone's fun and maybe I'm just old fashioned, but I wouldn't allow pictures of my children to be posted online for every who knows who to see.  The way the world is these days, it's just not safe IMO.  And, yes, if you are under 18, you are a child.

Max
Bumpybump! I'm not a dad (as of now), but I have irl little buddies who've played here, and protecting them is very important. Depending on their parent(s)/guardian, this protection may run the gamut of no posting pictures, no sensitive topics on chat/messages, and no giving out personal details like emails and such (which is Forum Rule Number 9). Just remember that anything posted on the Interwebs is potentially seen by the whole world and can never, ever be taken back... and that there are baddies out there. That said, if you're a kid minor, you're not obligated to post pictures here. Just focus on playing the game and be excited for V6 :) (that was my attempt to end this post on a light note ;))

EDIT: To balance it out, I think we do have a great (not just good looking hehe) community here. I particularly like that we have people of all ages whose common ground is to enjoy playing mc.

Noobstown General / Re: Questions?
« on: 23 Sep 2013, 03:59:26 »
Figured I don't really need to make a whole other topic for this, but I had a question of my own.

Does anyone know if town/nation chat will be working in V6? It was one of my favorite features of the chat and when it finally stopped working with ours it was a very sad time indeed. I'd like to see it back up again, for a time I got by with just having everyone in the town in a party chat but then MCMMO made the party chats strange and hard to maneuver around and I just never got the full grasp of how to work it again.

So yeah. Town/nation chat, just wanted to see if that awesome baby will be back and if not if there would be a good alternative besides the confusing party chat.
Bump!! /nc was definitely one of my favorite V5 features too when we had it. Whenever a new TA has questions, people from other towns in the nation just pop up all around and help out. It also kinda gives townies a bigger sense of community.

And yeah, the mcMMO party chat has been removing inactive people from the party during the later part of V5, and we'd had to reinvite them next time they log back on.
